I don’t play Inkling but now I better understand the character. I learned that if you tech after an inkling knocks you away, you’ll get buried. If you miss the tech, you won’t. That’s very very helpful.

I've absolutely loved your Art Of series since the Smash 4 days, and this is one of the best you've made. When you get around to making Art of Incineroar I'd be more than happy to help, my Wrestle-Cat has gotten pretty clean and I won around five sets in bracket with him a couple days ago. Also for future videos I would suggest trying to include the tags of the players whose clips you used in the UI to match how it appears in sections with your Inkling. While I noticed contributor's names in the corner they struck me as pretty easy to miss. Hopefully that change wouldn't be too much of a pain, I don't know much about editing. Can't wait to see what comes next!

You forgot to mention that the Splattershot acts like some sort of windbox against both Chrom and Ike's recovery, but I'm not sure if it gives a free kill every time.

5:07 something else I would like to add for fellow inkling mains, if you’re against a new opponent during a set test this out one time and see if they get hit by it, use it from ledge if possible when they’re ledge trapping, if it succeeds use it as a mixup for later if you’re in pressure but if they shield don’t use it again. Remember to not make a habit of it but keep it as an option

Inklingcord labmember here! ~12:20 where you say dthrow doesnt combo with DI away isnt actually true... its a shame that some people spread this around but it is actually pretty good at comboing. It works with IRA nair bair to be true from late 20s to around 40, fair from around 30 to 50, and bair alone with similar percents to IRA nair or plain nair. IRA gives inkling a regrab, jab, or something else and is very useful to learn. It even combos at 0% with some weird things but fthrow IRA bair is usually more reliable

ledge splatter gun is so troll i love it. nice clip here too 16:20 I'm thinking in kind of a casual mindset but the way it snuffs them out so anti-climatically is great.

Ultimate is my first Smash and I haven't been practicing at all. And I _really_ want to get good at Inkling, despite being mediocre! Your video is awesome and I will keep coming back to it as I get more comfortable with the controls and basic movesets. And to whoever put the subtitles... THANK YOU. I love Splatoon and its music, and it's so distracting hearing it in the video!

God, I watch many tutorials for inkling but these one gives exactly what I'm looking for : how to properly land your attacks on shield and how to follow up. I mean the other I watched didn't explain how inklings options work that well. (I watch Armada and Cosmos guide + some randoms ones) Thank's a lot !

Inkling is probably one of my favorite newcomers next to K. Rool and Banjo. I hope she gets plenty of buffs!

I main inkling and there was a lot here that I needed to see. The visuals and examples after explaining the techniques and strategy's helped a lot.

Actually a pretty good guide however there are things I think you should’ve mentioned. Splattershot is one of inklings most useful moves in that it refreshes the timer which I’m not sure you said which means occasional bursts in neutral helps a lot. It’s kind of hard but you can grab after the knockback of the splat bomb which gives a lot of percentage and ink so if you can up throw combo it will do *loads*. Final thing is forward throw to rar back air. After the combo you can read a jump or option your opponent throws out which can be lead by a bait into grab or something like that

Thank you so much I’ve been wanting to play inkling even before ultimate came out and as soon as ultimate came out I started playing inkling and it ended up making my friends salty because I was doing decent. This was even worse considering people were dumb enough to think she was the best character in the game. So I ended up dropping her and I literally started to pick her up again today and I found this video.

I was literally just thinking about picking up Inkling. Just Perfect.

Kinda happy ya did this, was trying inkling for fun and noticed how smooth they feel.

Have you noticed that Back air seems to do 2% more if you hit underneath the gun? If you hit on the gun it does 10%, and if you hit on the arm it’ll do 7 or so, but if you actually hit the opponent with the part of the hotbox that’s below the gun it does 12! I’ve been checking it over and over and I keep finding this. It even knocks down earlier for tech chases. Unfortunately, you have to come from above most opponents to land the hit box, so it doesn’t work quite as well in neutral since you would need to full hop to land that particular hotbox, BUT it could be really solid for edge guards since it will kill slightly earlier and you’re more likely to double jump to hit the bair offstage, or come from above the opponent. I just haven’t seen anyone talking about that part of Bair.

I used to hear “it’s safe on shield at close range” during these guides and be dumbfounded at how broken that seemed. However, I’ve leveled up in my gameplay and understanding of the game and I get it now. While you may always be able to beat a shield, there’s a trade off. Inkling nair only hits right on top of them, and to land it point blank on shield requires getting to point blank range. You’ll always win out if your opponent just sits there and shields, but you lose when you whiff because they outspaced you or they stuff your short range no disjoint move with a hit box. Jumping at lucina with nair will work out if you get to her shield, but you’ll get bodied by her ftilt before you get close and you’ll lose to other options, and that’s why bair is better. You can still make it safe on shield while also not losing to being stuffed out or eating a heavy punish on whiff.

Inkling is fun to use against heavy characters because of how fast your get in and out of their range to do a lot of damage

These are just like Choctopus character breakdowns, except these are actually done well. Keep up the good work. :)

f-throw could be a really good greed option if you want to keep the ink on really bad(like against a heavy or hard to kill character like snake or bowser). f-throw into nuetral-b poke can put a lot of ink on right away.

Grab - upthrow - nair - dragdown upair - grab - upthrow - nair - dragdown upair - (you should be at the ledge) grab - down throw - short hop dair. this is a ZERO TO DEATH STRING it's not true but parts of it are I use this for the first stock when playing elite smash almost everyone dies except lucario, k-rool, and basically anyone with a good vertical recovery. You can do this on FD from the first quarter of the stage, half of the stage, and third quarter on the stage(not DI tested other than in training mode with a lot of shuffle) your welcome hope you have a good day😄😄😄

Inkling is nice and all, but Art of DEDEDE THO? All jokes aside, you've helped me improve so much over the years. The art of Smash 4 is what got me into this channel, thank you.

Good info, thanks a bunch. One suggestion I'd like to make is to be consistent with your usage of "you" and "they". For most of the video, "you" refers to the Inkling and "they" refers to the opponent. However, there are are several points in the video where you seem to swap perspectives, so it becomes a little confusing who you are talking about. An example of this is at 2:51, where you suddenly start speaking from the perspective of the opponent and how "you can tech roll in to avoid these setups."

Please consider doing Art of Samus sometime, I loved the one for Smash 4, and Samus is even more badass now on Ultimate.
