This just reminds me of what an amazing recovery story Jimmy has. He got his shit together and helped keep the Pumpkins alive for the past 17-18 years. So awesome and Jimmy is easily one of rocks greatest drummers ever. We all win from his success by getting to hear him kick ass on dem drums.

I think he looked over at James at that point because of something about the two overdose incidents that they both knew about....like maybe one of them was defending Jimmy and Jonathan OR one was accusing and then that person realized the truth and felt stupid, The way James chimes in it seems like maybe he was defending them or maybe he was telling Billy he thought there was a problem all along - something like that. Definitely seems like they weren't on the same page about it till after the 2nd OD based on what they're saying(and aren't saying) and their body language/nervous laughter.

BA BF bullshit. Throwing people under the bus is not going to stop them taking drugs. Only they can.
@betsybabf7486 жыл бұрын
You don't seem to comprehend it. It is not "throwing them under the bus" (and seriously, we're not 7th graders), but placing all responsibility and ownership on them, as they are the only ones who can do it, which only happens when all responsibility and ownership lies openly with them.
@despicabledog6 жыл бұрын
BA BF you're an idiot. I AM an ex-heroin user, and I've been one for 6 years before I finally was able to quit. Do you know what happened when people revealed my issues to other people? I told them to fuck off, and, if anything, I'd do more H because I was pissed off. I quit because I wanted to, not because people were talking behind my back (or not). Revealing private things such as drug addiction in an interview that is going to be watched by millions of people is not lying responsibility and ownership upon a person, it's being a scumbag. If they really cared they would have helped him, first by having a serious discussion and not pressuring people that have drug issues by asking them constantly "have you taken drugs?? are you sober??" like these idiots admitted they did, which only makes a person want to get high even more, and, secondly, having him rehabilitated in a facility that supplies buprenorphine or methadone (I don't know about the US but it's free here... and even if it wasn't, they have enough money to pay for one). They are scumbags (which I expected from Billy but not James and D'arcy) and no one should ever put individuals who have serious issues such as drug addiction and likely depression under public scrutiny. It has never helped and never will. Quitting opioids is hard, it's a lifelong battle, and has little if nothing to do with responsibility. When your addicted to heroin and you don't take it you feel sick and you need a long acting opioid like methadone to stop the withdrawal symptoms and to be able to taper off and gradually recover (upregulate) the opioid receptors. All the media coverage and pressure will not make any difference if a person is sick. They could have avoided Jonathan's dead but they did nothing even though they knew he had overdosed a few months earlier and this was after Kurt Cobain death so they all knew the risks involved in heroin addiction. They just didn't care, and the way Billy talks about him and Chamberlain shows what a little man he is.

I think some people have a hard time understanding addiction like that. Billy seems pissed off he was lied to, "We wont do it again" etc. But they weren't lying because they were deceptive bad people, they genuinely wanted it to never happen again. But they were being controlled by one of the most powerful addictions to exist on this planet. You have to at least try to understand what that means. They needed help rather than condemnation. I get that this is hard for a lot of people raised during the WAR ON DRUGS to appreciate, but it is true and has been proven many times.

Like, please Google this, it's well accepted that Billy Corgan is not only one of the most difficult people to get along with, that he is a walking contrarian who has contradicted himself about almost every celebrity he's ever dealt with just to get a headline or cash-grab. I mean, we're talking about a man that swears on his life that he knows lizard people are real because he saw someone once transform into another person in front of him. The band stopped making good music shortly after this interview, with Ava Adore being critically and commercially a flop, and Billy doing anything he can since then to maintain the status he once so enjoyed. Fantastic band and mixed feelings about Corgan. On the one hand, he is a super-talented singer-songwriter (one of the best of his day alongside Cobain and Stephen Malkmus, Jeff Buckley and many others) and is clearly very intelligent and articulate and I love their music but sometimes I just wish he would shut up and let the others get a frickin' word in. I don't know if it's his ego or just his mind going too fast or what.....maybe a bit of both.

I blame heroin as the major reason that Rock died in the late 1990's. I mean come on, how many songs about being a depressed junky and how many of your heroes can die from the crap, before you get disgusted of it?

Michael, both D'Arcy and Billy said harsh truths in the interview. Why is she a bitch but Billy, who is actually KNOWN for being insanely difficult to be around, not an asshole? For saying the same things?

I feel dirty watching this. They're talking about addiction like it's this moral failure. Billy only frames the story about Jonathan's death and Jimmy's overdose around how they were such a super inconvenience to him and his schedule.

@@LockedInWithLovebirds It’s not that celebrities can’t talk frankly (and if that were the case I’m not exactly crying on behalf of those poor oppressed celebrities). It’s more that we’ve come a long way in the past 20 years in our clinical and public understanding of how addiction works.

I was wondering how after Jimmy was fired from pumpkins did he come back after the band split up, or did he come back before they broke up? Did Billy get him back after Jimmy got sober? Really just wondering how that happened? Did Billy just really need Jimmy because they were the 2 that recorded the songs together on all the albums not James or Darcy
@mancmayhem81653 жыл бұрын
Billy Corgan was raised by his heroin addict Dad. He knows the brutal reality of addiction and that's why he didn't get into drugs himself and didn't want to have drug addicts in his band and life. Billy, James and D'arcy were so angry that Jimmy betrayed their trust and that a session musician they'd known for a month had derailed their career at the best most successful time for them.
