So happy to see him coming back with incredible recovery! Let's go Novak!

He had a meniscus surgery and then 3 weeks later, he goes and does this. Just insane. GOAT for a reason. He's in the mix for Wimbledon if he can sustain this level and continue to make progress.

@@BrotherTree1 This was only a practice set, and Medvedev isn't a great grass court player yet, no surprise, real test is against sinner alcaraz and zverev.

He played solidly, but way below his level. He was very tentative. Meddy played like trash, so this is not a good indicator of how well Novak will do at Wimbledon. But having said that he was holding back in this match and the one with Sinner to gauge how his knee was. In Wimbledon he will likely go full force and see what happens.
@chrismp32 күн бұрын
Goes and does what exactly? Beats Medvedev on grass? That is no test I’m afraid. He lost his set to Sinner which is more realistic. He won’t be in the mix for Wimbledon…

To anyone wondering a meniscus tear especially if it's a small tear isn't very serious. Your ACL and MCL tendons do most of the stabilisation of your knee. All he's feeling now is tightness from them puncturing his knee capsule to reach the meniscus.
@zhouzen5172Күн бұрын
That helps a lot cause how the f does he come back so soon, must have been something very minor
@sophieoshaughnessy9469Күн бұрын
A meniscus tear can be very serious depending on extent of tear and location. If I had to guess I’d say Novak’s was minimal And prob on the outer rim with the better blood supply. Just a trim and he’s off. Still impressive he can pull something like this off after 3 weeks. Mind blown.
@gaonyadiwemokone3489Күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Perspective is key. We simply do not know how serous the meniscus injury was: still remarkable that he is able to play.
@kiki13121984Күн бұрын
that "small tear" perhaps isn't very serious for someone younger, whose body can recover more easily, but at the age of 37 - same as with Rafa, for example - every small issue is a mountain to climb, and a potential "backward step" whenever the "veterans" play matches...

I hope Djoker will reconsider competing at Wimbledon, cuz his knee is obviously not ready for that kind of stretching, running, sliding, etc. His serve is great, but his movement isn''t. And if he's about to compete at the Olympic games, too, risking BOTH tournaments with a possible serious injury really isn't worth it...
@bigrobsydneyКүн бұрын
The scary thing is, I didn't think he was moving optimally, and his serve looks like he's using more left leg. I hope he improves physically, because I want to see him at 100%. He's going to need it, if he's going to play the young guns over 5 sets.

Does Wimbledon also pay Appearance Fees for athletes who attract ticket sales? And would an organizer even admit this? I dont think it’s a bad idea. It can boost ticket sales and I would love to watch a famous or legendary player even if he doesnt win. A piece by Roddick opened my eyes to the possibility that maybe even the bigger events do this too. It is a business, after all. Coz to me, this could explain why Djokovic is pushing himself to play even when he isnt at 100%. Of course he doesnt need the money but what if there is a binding 5-yr contract? Or he just needs to play one or two matches then retire… Not saying that he is. Playing a scenario in my head and Just curious….
