If you like my videos, don't forget to subscribe! Sorry about the long video, these fans seem to have exceptional bearings and have a long spindown time.
I also show some old fluorescent light fixtures (probably preheat) starting up.
You guys may remember these fans from my other channel (see link below). I decided to take a better video now when there was nobody in the room, so I wouldn't have to mute the audio due to talking. You may faintly hear some voices from outside, and I tried to avoid them. At one point I ended up covering the microphone and ending up covering the camera...
These fans seem to be slightly newer than most of the fans in the school, probably because the classroom seems to have been built as an extension (the whole thing is made out of glass and metal and is not connected to any other classrooms, except for the ones below). They seem to have a somewhat smaller motor compared to the other SMC K56 in the school. They also have longer downrods, probably either to match the height of the lights or to help avoid heat at the ceiling when it is sunny, however this makes them less ideal for winter heat recirculation (destratification).
These are controlled from what seems to be transformer based/choke controllers (regulators). As you can see, the middle ones have been replaced because the original ones were broken in a way that all the speeds were not much different from high speed. You may also see a piece of paper with a bird drawing on one of them (I did that when I was younger) and a reflective nightime cycling band on the downrod (to annoy my teacher). The one with the band on the downrod and the bird drawing makes bearing noise, because the fan seems to have been dripped on during a roof leak that my teacher told me about, causing rusting inside the motor. One of them also goes REALLY slow (probably due to a capacitor issue). The back one also goes a bit slow on lower speeds and spins down first, probably due to stiff bearings. It also has one yellow blade (I don't know why, probably due to the roof leak as well or something). The front fan seems to be the only fan still in really good shape. These seem to be the version from 1990-2010, with the small stamped steel motor- that explains it probably.
