To avoid a slippery floor you can simply get a silicone tube Caulking and squirt little dots every few inches. I got that tip from another KZfaqr who does the same thing, as I do now, to inflatable pads. It will not damage plastic, it will be fairly permanent, it will be crystal clear, and it will give you the gift of friction for almost no weight.

Good idea I think I’ll use one of the rubber tips to put up in that spot where the trekking pole tip goes.

Excellent review chaps, very helpful. Always nice to see a review of something that's actually being used, not only on trail, but on a long trek. I've been watching your other videos, very entertaining. I can see this double-act going a long way... and I don't just mean miles and km!

Great review I have the SMD Lunar Solo LE. The LE has a poly floor is a bit slippery but recently I purchased a 1/8 " gossamer gear pad and it works great by reducing the slipperiness by over half. Take Care

The vent appears not to be adjustable - no closure method and appears that driving wind and rain can enter it. With the netting going about the entire tent, Winter weather would limit its' usefulness requiring a warmer sleeping system generating greater carried weight and volume. Basically it's a raised rain fly with a bathtub floor with mosquito netting. If you can get the "fly" down to the ground you can achieve an inherently warm environment with the exception of lacking air control through the vent and with a raised "fly" usage of the tent for Summer, late Spring and early Fall. Were you to add a loop of cord 100 to 200 pound test strength at tent peak you can hang the tent as well by about eight different methods providing multiple set-up opportunities.

This looks so much like the 3F UL Lanshan 1 Pro (£100/690g) I've just bought it's uncanny! Pleased with its performance stealth-camping in local woods during lockdown, but not sure I'd trust it for more severe use - I'll stick with my Luxe Hexpeak V4A (even more room!) for that.

Great review! I agree it's totally luck whether you do or don't get condensation in this tent. I've used it in bone dry Colorado and gotten condensation, and I've used it in humid muggy Virginia and it's stayed dry. I think it's a property of silnylon, which may cool faster when exposed to a clear sky such as after a rain when clouds move out. I just bought the 2018 model that's made of silicone polyester. Hoping it absorbs less water.

Cheers friend 🤟 full review here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ibRpodp3qdKnZoE.html brought it on the gr5 this year as well and it held up great tbh though if a katabatic palasade didn't cost soooo much I would upgrade in a heart beat.

@@twofoolswalking2109 did you seal just the outside? Or the inside too? Any tips?

U can get rid of the sliding in tent using seamsealer on floor, draw few lines whre you want the pad to stay for the smd, close to the mesh, and you good to go.

Hey Storm, we went ~ 16 Jul - 24 Aug. Twas a great time of year but in an ideal world if you could go when it was a bit drier I would take that option :)

Not if you like the 360 degree ventilation the Six Moons Lunar Solo offers when set up in the high position. Otherwise they both are almost the same but the S.M.L.S has more interior room , 48 inches compared to Zpacks 38 inches. That's livable space not including the vestibule and extended rain fly. The Zpacks is 14.8 ounces and the Six Moons is 26 ounces but there is a world of difference in the cost. 220.00 compared to 549.00 for the Zpacks. If Zpacks offered the ventilation and room of the S.M.L.S. in their piexamid I would;d of gotten one but they don't so I saved a bundle and only have 11.2 more ounces to carry.

I've had trouble finding good photos or videos of the floor.. is it a raised bathtub edge in the "back" of the tent like it is at the door?
@twofoolswalking2109
@twofoolswalking2109 6 жыл бұрын
It is raised all the way round but the back only rises if it is a PERFECT pitch. In our video “lentils” is a show of such a pitch. Tbh I rarely get it to bathtub at the back but this causes no issues. Hope this helps :)

I watched the lentils video to learn more about pitching this tent. Nice video, thanks. I bought this tent and I’ve put it up a couple times in my backyard bc this is my first hiking pole tent. What tips do you recommend so that I can get the bathtub floor and mesh to look like yours? When I set this up, the floor and mesh look a little “collapsed” compared to yours, not as tall. Thank you.
