Loved the fact that you didn't pause first time listening to the song (Although tempted) and did your 🧐analysis second time around 👍. Didn't think anyone could come close to Nat King Cole sing this song 😊. But that was Magical from the Thomas Family ❤. Your insight as a vocal coach was very informative and entertaining 👌😉

Jay gee O like the way she does her reacts, play through and then go back and talk. So many reactors will stop the video after only one line and "analysis" , and havent a clue about the whole song. Lucy always start easy and builds so until we hear the whole song who is to judge, I like the way she does her reaction, probably the best out there and she knows music !!

Really enjoyed your reaction thank you. It is a privilege to be able to track in real time the development of Lucy and Martha and so special to hear where it all started, you can imagine how the Thomas household would have been (and probably still is) alive with song from Louise, Lucy and Martha over the years. As you said during the reaction Louise is justifiably proud of her girls and fortunately for us had the foresight to ensure good classical training from a young age backed up her own talented mentorship. I think this video the most uplifting I have experienced 🙂

Juliet, I'm really glad you checked this one out and saw the beauty of Lucy's smooth silky full of depth voice (no gymnastics required) and how she really gets into her songs. Lucy and Martha sound similar in a way, whereas Louise has a softer voice. The B/W video is very pleasing to me for some reason. Just like me, you were affected right away by each of the opening phrases from Lucy. Also note the love shown when Louise is singing and the two girls are looking through the studio window at her. There's pure affection in their faces. This may be short but it packs a lot of emotion and beautiful voices in that short time. This rendition really affects me deeply every time I watch and listen to it.

BC1982 Yes and I have heard Louise sing with Lucy in the car and she can belt em out and I felt Louise was reserved here making sure Lucy and Martha got the attention, where both had more volume than Louise !!! Louise is a strong momma bear in regards her girls, which is great !!!

She is stunning, and Martha is maturing, we have to remember Martha is basically where Lucy was when Lucy first appeared on UK Kids, 13 years old, Lucy has 5 1/2 years development on Martha, and I do believe there is a reason Louise has not recorded anything until this special song, she does not want the attention singing to divert attention away from her girls. Louise and her husband Jason have their careers, they own a very successful fine furniture business employing quite a few employees, she does not need the attention !! !

All are great, but in terms of "better than the original", or "the best version of this song ever", - I would go for Lucy's version of Somewhere (west side story).

As I am a huge Lucy's fan, all I can write is biased 😉 I follow Lucy, for years and at each new video I am stunned how her voice is progressing from very good to awesome. This video is ,again, a proof. Louise voice is sweet as honey, Martha voice is pure as spring water, and Lucy's voice is , as always, enchanting as a magnificent sunrise! Love all of them🥰🥰🤗👏👏👍👍

Hi Juliet...You are one of my most favorite reactors. Your technical expertise is excellent but more than that, you extract a layer of emotion out of the presentation that is heartfelt. I can clearly feel that you love what you do and really appreciate the artists you give your time to. Thank you for that. Otherwise, what's not to love about this video, three beautiful angelic ladies bringing a smile and warm feeling into our lives. They truly make my heart sing. La Vie En Rose my favourite and even though it's no longer Christmas O Holy Night with Martha is beautifull at any time Memory from Cats musical amazing You Raise Me Up with Martha is great In the Arm of the Angel with a young Martha great song done beutifully. hard to go wrong perhaps go by views on her own site,

Juliet, a bit more. You mentioned how Lucy sometimes pulls out the lyrics and it makes it very pleasant. I agree, plus by pulling "if you just smile" it really brings home the meaning of this piece. And, on the very last three words their harmony really stands out. Excellent execution.

I really enjoy hearing your comments on the singing of Lucy, Martha, and their mother Louise. This is the 3rd video that I have seen of you commenting on Lucy's singing. Lucy's voice is absolutely amazing yet I could even hear how it has matured. Martha's voice has become so much stronger and it is a very pretty one. And I was glad to hear their mother singing because I had wondered what kind of a voice she had. Iy was nice. 11:54

I love now they are getting older and the sisters are sounding more alike, I have always loved hearing Lucy sing, and when I heard Martha sing at 12yo, I had a feeling she will sound like Lucy when older. Closing my eyes, it was difficult to tell who was singing between the two sisters. I love your reaction video, best wishes from Mike.

Good reaction! I think the black and white was a throw back to when Charlie Chaplin wrote the music (1936) and (1954) when lyrics were written and Nat King Cole recorded it.

Thank you for the great reaction. These three Lady’s have all the class in the world. What is not to love. I would like to request one of my favorite songs from Lucy, “Someone You Love”. This song doesn’t seem to attract as much attention as other songs but I think it is just outstanding.

@@jimivison5837 I struggled teaching secondary school English for 33 years, the last 30 of those in the same school and it wasn't exactly the student's favourite subject. It is grammatically one of the most difficult languages to operate with.

Martha here was 13 1/2 years old and Lucy was 19. it was about 1 year and a half between The Prayer and Smile. where Martha was 12 and Lucy was 18, and yes Martha is at a point in her life where she was maturing, but interestingly it was about 8 months between the CLIMB and SMILE, longest time for Martha between songs and Martha said she sings as a hobby, and understanding also Martha has other interest in her Horse activities, this spring have taken first place in her dressage competition and third in show jumping. that and Lucy being in college and working on Rosie who knows if we will see Martha again, she has said she was "thinking" about a solo when asked but it doesn't sound very hopeful. Hopefully she will but there is always a chance she may take the course her mother did and just sing for fun when she wants, Hopefully not !!

Hi ya Juliet - what more can I add to Colin's comment and Wilbur's reply? Please take a look at the Lucy & Martha duet THE CLIMB. You will get a much better listen and look of Martha. I too hope that Martha continues with a singing career. It isn't a competition with Lucy, but I really hope Martha does some solos in the future. Obviously not songs that Lucy has done so there aren't the competitive comparisons. There are already comparisons which may be why Martha is not in the spotlight more. Martha at her age is such a great budding talent and I don't want to see her bud nipped. Now that I have seen Louise sing, it is easy to see where Lucy & Martha get their talent. Unlike Wilbur, I am not on Twitter or other social media, so I haven't seen Louise singing before. I literally get tears in my eyes watching Lucy, Lucy & Martha duets, and now the 'triple treat' with Louise. Thank you for your reaction and I hope to see you react to more of Lucy and her duets with Martha.

Bruce I agree with you about the comparison of Lucy and Martha serves no positive purpose because the two are so far apart in age and development and would only discourage martha. Lets just support Martha and encourage her, she could use the support, she has a beautiful voice and there are a couple of songs Martha did by herself on Twitter at 10 years old and she was a great singer for her age and really got into the songs. I would love to hear her do a solo but that is up to Martha and we need to let her know we are supporting her 100%...

@@Peter-55 I agree but selfish people make dumb comments without thinking, Have gone through this twice, this girl thing is complicated, we raised 2 girls 4 years apart and older sister jumped right in "helping" take care of baby sister and as they grow the younger looks to older sister as almost a second mother, and the comparisons always start by people not thinking. We heard that often from younger sister that she was herself and NOT the little sister, and of course they are at a different development level, and the older sisters hormones kick in before younger sister and they are not the same. and we went through it again with our younger daughter 2 girls same dynamics. And people start making comment that the older is better or the younger not as good, well of course, they know that and DO NOT need to be reminded of it,

Juliet, more on Lucy's technique. After you mentioned it, I have noticed in many of her vocals she does the same pulling of notes, extending the note longer. I've also noticed that several other singers on KZfaq tend to cut short the notes and not really finish the phrase. Lucy has a very smooth delivery and she carries notes to the completion of the word or phrase. It makes her renditions more smooth, connected and just outright beautiful.

I think it is interesting to note that Louise was very reserved here, there are video on Lucys face book fan page of Louise driving Lucy to an interview and they are singing recorded on a cell phone the song was THE CLIMB and Louise was belting that song out, just her and Lucy having fun, they also sang Never and same thing she was belting the song out, but here it is obvious she wanted the attention to be on her girl !!! What a mom !!!

One of the best remake of Nat King Cole's song i sang this in a talent show in school many years ago ...... fantastic harmony and blending with each other. Lucy has that support and love of her mom and sister which helps confidence and enjoyment for her and her younger sister Martha

Juliet, in this reaction you introduced me to how Lucy pulls notes. I continue to hear that through many of her renditions. To me, that's a real defining factor in Lucy's singing and the phraseology of the lyrics. In your reaction to Evergreen (by Lucy) you referred once again to her technique of pulling the notes plus her ability to run high and low so smoothly, like a roller coaster. Thank you for your reactions to Lucy, and your expertise regarding music.

The studio videos showcase the vocal artistry without the distractions in pop videos. Most of the Lucy videos are looking straight past the microphone into the camera. This piece somehow seems to glide between the angle changes which may be easier by the video being in b & w

Juliet, something I noticed about this video. When Louise is singing she appears to be very animated but I noticed the camera gets into the act and moves around accentuating Louise' motion. Not trying to be negative, just a little technical thing I noticed.
