Because without that than it's just an advertisement that says we need to be creeped out by smiling people to enjoy the movie. Shows that it might actually be a worthwhile movie to see for the people that aren't freaked out by smiling actors/actress.

One of the best elements of terror and horror is incorporating seemingly common, everyday occurrences that everyone encounters and presenting them in a fear-inducing way i.e. darkness, sleep, even things like time and numbers; it’s the association with fear that creates horror. People smiling at you? Every day. Good job on that idea

This looks great: I’m anxious to see it. I feel like I’m seeing elements of numerous horror shorts from over the years. Twilight Zone’s “Something in the Walls” (1989); Evan Sweet’s brilliant “Hide: Bloody Mary” (2016); various “Smiling Woman/Man” etc. shorts... Of course the creepy-smile motif in film goes all the way back to the silent era, but I’m wondering if there are more recent specific influences / references here.

Can't wait to watch this. A lot of horror movies nowadays are just recycled plots and jump scares that you can see coming a mile off, but when I saw the trailer for this in the cinema, it got my attention straight away. I think they should release this the week before Halloween instead of the end of September, but I'm looking forward to this early Halloween film. Update: Saw the film yesterday. I'd give it a 6/10. I don't really think anything was lacking from it, but it was just an pretty good film. Not a classic by any means, but it's worth watching.

This comment has been on every horror trailer for years. Most modern horror movies are woke remakes; moody arthouse wannabe films where creepy people stalk the protagonist for no discernible reason until the finale where the movie takes a sudden turn for the gorey/body horror (anything by A24); blumhouse horror comedies; and It follows knock-offs (see above). They don’t even make the kind of horror you mention in your comment anymore. Haven’t for like almost a decade now 🙄
@cccbeats_
@cccbeats_ Жыл бұрын
@@VideoGuy232 I could name a lot of modern day horror films that have recycled plots and jump scares that you can see coming a mile off. Firstly, a prime example of recycled plots would be the "Halloween" films. How many more times do we need to see Michael Myers until we go "That's enough"? What about the Insidious films? Yawwwn. The list goes on. Secondly, jump scares that you can see coming a mile off, Insidious (again), The Conjuring, IT (I think IT was actually a good film though, but the jump scares were predictable). There's definitely a lot of good modern day horror movies though. A few that come to my mind when I say that are It Follows, The Monster, Get Out (kind of a horror film, but more of a thriller), Sinister, and Netflix drop the occasional good horror film as well. It's not a dying genre at all, but it's just good to see a trailer like this one that actually looks interesting. It just seems like the more mainstream horror movies that are meant to be the scariest aren't at all, but there's some really good hidden gems like the few I mentioned, apart from Sinister because Sinister is a well known film.

Against the comments in this section, I'm gonna say it'll be good cause it's capturing a normal and mondaine interaction with people and turning it into a psychological horror aspect. With most horrors today, it's recycled material not capturing anything new or unique. They ride off the previous scare factor and hope it is still scary. Halloween, Saw, Nightmare on Elm Street, all of them have sequels that rely on the fear of the originals. Yes two out of the three haven't made new movies as of this new decade, but the fact is there there. This is newer to a scene that has been needing fresh air for a while. It may not age well in 5 or 10 years but it probably will be a big hype for a few years

@@sapheyersoftsounds7693 a concept alone does not make a movie horror inducing by any means at all. What matters is execution above all else. And based on this trailer,it looks like they botched that. Enjoy wasting $15 on this mid movie though
