Awhile ago a girl at my work told me this movie was really scary. I thought she probably just frightened easily. I finally got around to watching it last night and all I have to say is she was right, it is really scary! Granted a number of the scares are jump scares but it doesn't solely rely on those to be effective. And you can definitely see the influence other great horror movies had on this director.

So I have avoided movies like this for 10 years because they terrify me and I can't sleep at night. I get nightmares. Yesterday, before the movies, they played this movie's trailer. I had to sit through it and watch. I couldn't sleep last night. So what can I do to avoid that experience? Because I know I will go to movies again and they don't prompt you before trailers at all

This movie is actually much better than it looks from the promo. Not just scary happenings and killings but very well played and planned what is the real problem and how to make it scare and imagine what if it would be on yourself. The main character was very logical and knowing the human intelligence level it describes very well how it can be very problematic and how you can be very alone instantly because of everyone's ability to believe and understand only something that they see and have learned. And the woman was in summary pretty smart. Although, I think in this condition, I would ask everybody just to lock me in chains or something and would have stopped to meet everyone completely just in case. But seeing how this spirit's ability to cheat the victim's mind you still can be never sure of did you really made everything completely right or if you just think so. 😀

So I have avoided movies like this for 10 years because they terrify me and I can't sleep at night. I get nightmares. Yesterday, before the movies, they played this movie's trailer. I had to sit through it and watch. I couldn't sleep last night. So what can I do to avoid that experience? Because I know I will go to movies again and they don't prompt you before trailers at all Demons don't scare me, jump scares don't scare me. Just watched the movie and it was genuinely chilling. Haven’t watched too many scary movies and certainly haven’t been scared by many at all but this one did it for me. I think the one thing that makes this movie truly terrifying is the fact that it’s psychological, and when something seems very real and human (very much uncanny valley), it brings on a different sense of paranoia since our features define us all too well. The scenes shot upside down in the trailer are referring to the scene at 0:56 that shows the scale of pain patients are in from 1-10. The poster shows an upside down smile on the scale (frown) is the worst kind of pain while a normal smile is no pain. The scenes that are shot upside down are imagery portraying the people who are smiling are actually in the worst kind of pain (according to the poster at 0:56).

That movie was terrifying. Felt like one of those old school practical effect horrors which feel super credible and disturbing.

I saw this last night and CRIED because of how bad I felt for Rose. Literally I felt like I was going insane with her 😅 it was very scary and extremely well put together. It was awesome!

I haven't seen anyone talking about it, so I'll add my opinion about one of the scariest parts of this trailer. The music. It sends chills down my spine, even though its just a repeating pattern of one note sometimes. But the way that note moves as if its getting closer or further away sometimes truly horrifies me. And there's something extremely uncanny about the breathiness and the perfect pitch of the note that makes my skin crawl. Trailer wouldn't have been half as scary without it. Even listening to the soundtrack alone without visual was scary for me.

Finally a happy movie I can watch with my 5 year old. Her mom always screams at me for watching horror and thriller with her. My daughter's gonna tell her mom all about it when she gets home I'll probably be asleep by then. Sweet dreams then a refreshing wake in the morning 😊

This movie is great. While not exactly the best of the best in the horror genre, but definitely one of the worthy horror films there is. The cinematography is amazing, the soundtrack is tense and unnerving, the jump scares are properly executed. Worth the watch!
