Glad you enjoyed the video. The M&P 40 compact is indeed a great gun. Thanks for watching.

I bought the M&P 40c as my first handgun and absolutely love it. No other handgun I have ever held has felt better. Really enjoy shooting the gun and have no issues with the trigger travel or reset as so many complain about although I may get the Apex upgrade to just because I can. To Oscar, I say "Go for it!", it will make an excellent first handgun.

Thank so much for this review. I own the M&P 9MM 2.0 and it is my EDC, but I realized after purchasing the 2.0 that I should of went with the 9c due to magazine compacity. The 9c and the 9 shield magazines aren't interchangeable and that sucks. I'm now looking at the 40 and was waning towards the Glock 27..but you just sold me on why I should go with the M&P 40c which for me IMO is a better built gun over the Glock plus giving me much more bang for my buck. I'm happy to see that the mags are interchangeable for a higher compacity without having to buy mag extenders.. This is the 40 caliber I am 100% going with when I go to purchase my 40 in 2 weeks. Great review. Thank you.

I have a small 'AIM' light on mine for home protection and bought a 'StormLake' 9mm conversion barrel along with 12,17 n 32 rd 9mm compact/full size mags. I'm really loving this gun. You can't go wrong with this shooter. Fixed my own gritty trigger the day after I bought it. Richardbeck has a video on how to do it. Don't try if your not confident or never did any work on firearms before. Gunsmith is always the best bet.

Yeah, I feel your pain. It's been really difficult to buy spare mags for my 40 as well. I ended up purchasing a couple of full size mags because that's all I could find. The search continues...

I'm in search of a nice conceal and carry weapon. I like both the M&P .40c and .45c. Went to the gun store today and held the .40c and loved the feel of it! I already own a .45 for home defense so this would be a nice one for EDC.

Great video and I'll subscribe to your channel. I'm new to guns and at the moment I only have a Glock 22 and am looking to get a small compact handgun. I'm doing as much research on what I should get and am liking what I am seeing from the S&W 40. It will be awhile before I can afford one, but it appears to be the one I'm leaning towards. Thanks for the video.

Yeah, I've been looking for more and havne't had any luck either. The last time I saw them at gun shows was last year (you know, before the buying frenzy). Hopefully as things settle down, we'll start to see more of them available.

the little peep hole to see if there is a round in the chamber is called a round indicator & when there is a round in the chamber the little arm on the side does not protrude, that is the extractor you are looking at. Good review

Great review bud! I have the full size of this but I have a question. When I first bought mine I guess I was a little to rough with it and my ring scratched it. Is the paint to you on this firearm fairly weak? Like scratches easy? I was so upset when I saw that long gash.. Other then that I tremendously love my firearm!

It's a decent holster. I wish the clip was metal instead of plastic. The one thing I really like about it is the adjustable cant on it. Gives it a lot of flexibility, specially when carrying a thicker gun like the M&P 40C in the video.

Safety catches were needed on older guns to protect mainly from impact initiated firing, modern designs have built in redundancies that they will not "just go off" either spontaneously or if knocked. You can only fear it going off spontaneously if you have no idea how it functions. Modern designs will only fire if the heavy 6.5-pound trigger is pulled and the holster prevents the trigger being pulled till drawn.

I personally prefer carrying w/o a safety. I carry with one chambered. I have no concerns with it whatsoever. I now carry using a Cross Breed IWB holster that's very secure with the molded Kydex.

I luv mine. It's very accurate as well. Just wish mags were easy to find & cheaper. Seems everyone has Glock mags but S&W doesn't seem to have mags for their guns. Been waiting since Jan for a couple of mags for my M&P 9mm.

I would luv to find some full size mags even. But haven't found them.

I have this gun on my wish list to buy very soon. I may be getting off-topic a little, but I think you should always carry a spare magazine.
@AZConcealedCarry11 жыл бұрын
It doesn't bother me at all. I rest the pinky underneath the mag. You get used to it. To me it's no harder to control compared to an extended mag. I've shot/carried the Glock 27 & M&P 40c for years with the flat plate mag. I'd recommend renting a similar sized gun to the Shield from the range to test approx felt recoil & grip. Try the Kahr CW9, Ruger LC9, Kimber Solo and so on. Of course be sure to rent a gun in the same caliber you plan on purchasing the Shield (9mm or .40S&W).

I got very lucky. I found them at a gun show. They're out there, but in very high demand still.
@cbwelch46 жыл бұрын
I'm considering this for my first .40. I do have a full sized .45. How is the recoil in this form factor., I ask because I have an LC9s, which is a big pocket gun, and it is quite snappy for a 9mm.

I've not seen to many gun shows of late. Cabela's offers them as a back order. They tell you when you call that they don't know when they will ship them or when they will come in. Oh well. Still like the gun. LOL

Great table review. How is the recoil on the 40?
@EE-vo3eh5 жыл бұрын
Gettysburg2013 for a 40 cal it’s not bad at all. The first time I fired the m&p 40 I was testing with my friend who’s a marine and he was testing it to decide if he wanted to purchase one and we put it thru all sorts of scenarios including rapid fire and the 40 performed really well as far as recoil is concerned. Obviously a little more kick than a 9mm but definitely manageable
@1timby11 жыл бұрын
Amen to that brother...LOL
@AZConcealedCarry11 жыл бұрын
Not at all. It remains securely holstered until intentionally un-holstered. It's not going to fire without pulling the trigger. Proper handling of a firearm is in my opinion the best safety.
@itsDarrell11 жыл бұрын
you're not concerned about it going off without you intending it to?
