Thanks alot for this video! I have been trying to learn more about my grandfathers victory model that I inherited. Mine also appears to be an Australian as it is stamped australia on the bottom of the grip. My serial is all on the right side of the lanyard ring and I have no US property marks. Oddly enough I have what appears to be british crown stamp on the right side where all of your stamps were. Mine was rechambered in 38 special though it seems at some point in its life.

Very interesting! I inherited a Victory Special from my Grandfather. Oddly, it is a snub nosed version with faux stag horn grips like the Air Force used 1950's-1970's(?). It's chambered in .38 S&W, not .38 Special. As far as I can tell, it never left the US. The more I look into it, the rarer I think it is. I've read that fewer than 500 were made in the snub nosed version. I don't think my Grandfather ever fired it and I haven't either, probably never will.

Though I never mentioned the snub nose variant I did stumble across a bit of info on them and they are definitely rare, cool piece to have!

I love your accent! Reminds me of my english teacher from 15 years ago. A teacher in germany btw 😂

I believe if I'm correct that those 3 capital letters(initials) beside the marking Property of USA stands for the S&W factory inspectors name which I forgot shame on me !!!

I have a pre Victory model with a serial number less than 1,000,000. It is marked US Property.

Very nice, .38 Special?
@51WCDodge9 ай бұрын
All LendLease have 'US Goverment Property' marked on it, as you can only 'Lend' or lease' your property! so you have to let the recipient know its yours. My Mossbeerg Mb 42a has the same.
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry9 ай бұрын
Some of the early ones were actually purchased by the British and not part of the Lend-Lease program from my understanding, those are the ones that would be without a US Property stamp

@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry No ,38/200, but I can’t remember if it’s marked.38 S&W. I think they started the V at 1M as you said. I’ll have to look for other markings on it.

Hi Thomas, shame about the grips. Ian Hogg has the details in one of his book, you can date them quite acuratley by the grip pattern.

I’ll have to check that out, thanks for the tip!

I have a 38/200 no V. Bottom of the grip where you have a V I have a flaming bomb with a W B. Top strap does not say US property. Serial number 208856. Has no British proof marks. I got in the early 1990’s. Is it a pre Victory model. What is it ? Thanks
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry9 ай бұрын
Very probably a Pre-Victory, is it the five-screw configuration and what is the barrel length?
@scotttwombly65289 ай бұрын
5 screws 5 inch barrel like the one in your video. It looks the same. Did it leave the US ?
@scotttwombly65289 ай бұрын
One more screw on the front strap between the grips low down
@GreatNorthwestWeaponry9 ай бұрын
@scotttwombly6528 hard to say if it has no proof marks, the five inch barrel makes me think it is in fact a Victory Model and not a Pre-Victory but the lack of any V or VS stamps in the serial number is confusing

Thanks for your help. It’s a strange one. I see we are in the same area. I have been to the War front. It’s close by. I did a lot of collecting starting in the early 90’s. Guns home front gear.
