We’re going informal for our first “One Day Build” video. Everything seen in this video was done in about 6 hours, and the build items (except for fuse) can be bought in either a hardware store and/or a home supply store. We hope this Vlog styled project isn’t too off putting, but ultimately we wanted to demonstrate how accessible and easy this project is to recreate.

I actually did something like this years ago before I saw this video. I made about 40oz of this candy fuel. It burned so hot that it exploded the canister (luckily we were outside and no one was hurt). It sent so much smoke into the air I was afraid a neighbor would call the fire department. Literally made a nice shade over the parking lot haha. There was melted glass on the parking lot for a while that's how hot it got. So moral of the story, I wouldn't make more than 15oz at a time

You could probably tie the fuse to a bit of wick, so that way the person has no clue it is devious in intent.

we used to make these in college with saltpeter and brown sugar in bottle caps...just line a bunch of them up and pour them like shots and the spillover serves as the wicks

You dont need the heating step if you're not making a "candle" just use confectioners sugar(powdered sugar) and never use an open flame

Well, aside from the carbon dioxide that is obviously not good for you, the potassium carbonate is what you really should worry about. First off, it is hazardous in case of skin and eye contact (as in it will irritate them), ingestion, inhalation, and longer exposure will be "slightly" corrosive to your eyes. It is toxic to mucous membranes, that is, mouth, nose, eyes, and insides, so... well... I would advice to sticking to safer pranks

When I wrote the post it seems like a good idea. The amount of smoke they use is huge. Then I realized, it's just better to go out and buy smoke grenades.

You could have gotten the potassium nitrate in the Walmart sold as saltpeter. I used to pour this in an ice tray and insert a match in each one to light them. Very intense heat as well.

technically you could have just made a cord fuse with the same potassium nitrate+sugar mix but instead cook the mix with water and then allow some 100% cotton yarn to soak up the water diluted mix, then bake the yarn in an oven (on a tray) for 3 hours at 300*c, and viola you have cord fuse that doesn't even look like cord fuse! disclaimer: homemade cord fuse may or may not ignite in damp/wet environments unless the mixture used has higher concentrations of potassium nitrate, KNO3 is a powerful oxidizer and should burn underwater

Yeah that part wasn't really mentioned. Fuse was bought online. There are a lot of sites that offer it. I got mine like 8 years ago from pyrocreations.com. Really, you could just use the wick but it might take a few hours before it goes off. Thanks!

The only thing that will make it look more suspicious is how the fuse is being lit. Like it burns out more faster than the white cloth one. Nowadays it would be used in all kinds of wars, or for the resistance fronts, especially what is happening in Europe right now.
