If you've never smoked a dessert on your Meadow Creek smoker, you're missing out on something pretty amazing!
In this video, we're smoking a pan of pecan bars using a paleo recipe we use in our own kitchen. Since more of our readers cook using more conventional flours and sugars, we encourage you to search for a recipe on the internet that works for you, then simply cook it in your smoker instead of the oven.
The Meadow Creek BX smokers are awesome for baking because they are insulated and hold temperature like a rock.
You will take your baked goods to a new level!
For this recipe, we used Rockwood charcoal and a couple of chunks of cherry wood as fuel. We baked the crust and the bars at 300 degrees instead of the higher temperature in the recipe to give the bars more chance to pick up a subtle smoke flavor. Just keep in mind that lowering the temperature will probably increase the cook time, but it's not difficult to adapt if you're used to baking.
