Yeah, I loved the Card games. I collected EVERY card the last time I played the game, and that was one of the greatest moments for me as a gamer. It was so exciting to wait for the card you wanted to pop up... Got all nostalgic now. Too bad the Steam version of the game has that terrible midi music, otherwise it would be an instabuy.

Because people who'd gotten onto the FF bandwagon with 7 played 8 and decided they didn't like it because it wasn't 7. Apparently people also found the junctioning system to be confusing for some reason.

I'm not sure, I think 13 is the most hated. I love FF8, maybe even more than FF7. FF9 has always been my favorite though.

FF8 was my first FF and the only one I finished. Found 6 cliché, never finished 7, didn't like childish tone of 9. I really enjoyed 8 as an adolescent as it feels more mature than the rest of the series, was beautiful (even if the PC version was downgrade), got a nice story, excellent soundtrack. I think the main problem for me was the over-complicated magic system were you had to store up your magic and never use it or it decreases your stat.. Had to read a strategy guide to finish the game properly. If you don't know that you can craft magic from item with quetzacoalt, you're just fucked. Now that I look back at the game... God is Squall anoying. You have to wait until mid 3 CD to become a better character but before that you just want to kick his ass for being such an emo. There's like a ton of critics to say about the game, but I recommand watching the (long... 2 hour 42 minuts in total divided in 11 parts) critic from Spoony. I agree with most of what he says. But despite that, I still love the game, and still would play it today.

I can understand that people liked FF8, even more if it was your first FF. But for me, i played all the previous entry before FF8 and i was so eager to play the newest entry ! I mean FF6 and FF7 were (still are ) the best rpg i had ever played so FF8 was going to be near perfect. But instead it kinda killed the series for me... Too much focus on the love story, the battle were boring and took a long time to finish. The tone was too dark and i din't like any of the character.... Almost forgot the boring card game .... At one point i was only using GF to battle and their cutscene were so loooong, but you had to watch to boost their power .... GRRRR. After that the 9 was ok, i finished the 10 but it was more a chores than anything else. Did not enjoy 11 cause if you weren't a white mage nobody played with you, i quit after a month . Then FF12 came out and they changed the battle system.... I tried to like it but no.. just no ... Did not played any FF since then

they each have their own merits i'd say. I somehow never got 9 as a kid though. played 6 thru 8, 10, 12 and 13. 12 was meh and 13 was garbage though.

I was only 9 when ff8 came out so i spent my childhood and teenage years going through all the older ones i could get my hands on, but then lost my gba so couldn't play ff1-5 which i had bought for the gba. everything between 6 and 10 that i've played are all quality though.

RosieSquall I can imagine so. Square Enix has a terrible tendency to make near to impossible puzzles in their rpgs. Like in Star Ocean The Last Hope, that big ass mothership had puzzles so difficult that I had to shut ny system off twice because I was so frustrated.

I like the draw system. Sure, it's repetitive but it is worth it when you collect all 100. It gets easier once your Guardian Force learn how to turn items into magic.

ken thao the battle mechanics were absolute trash. drawing and junctioning took waaay too much time to figure out/ to do, the enemies gained stats faster than you do, thus forcing you to run from all the battles, the weapon upgrades were hard because the games doesn't explain how to get the items, and only squall gained some game-changing limit break, and the gf's animations took like 30 seconds to go through. if you liked ff8, it was probably because of the music, the graphics and/ or the story.

Luis Daniel Bencomo pfff, of course it's not hard. i've completed it twice. but hard ≠ complicated. besides, that wasn't the point of my comment. normally you have to level up to get stronger than your enemies. but, OH NO WE CAN'T HAVE THAT. we have to go through hours of drawing so to 1-shot every enemy, or else you will.

I preferred it to having to level all the jobs in final fantasy V
