Everything Laura does is spine tingling, not even one! She sings Time to say Goodbye on a Romanian talk show, very casual setting ,very casual clothes but nothing casual about the performance at all! Glad to see you have discovered her as well! I told you once that we will never steer you wrong!

I remember watching this when it was on... that thing she does at 3:39 is one of the most emotive things I've ever heard/seen in singing. When I was growing up, my dad would listen to opera in the car all the time...so I have heard many hours of it in my life...never liked it. My dad passed when I was a teenager and I went many years without hearing any opera other than just in passing (movies or in the background somewhere). Jackie Evancho came along, and I was impressed that someone so young could sing so well, but it was still just opera to me. It still didn't do anything for me... ...But this girl, in this very performance was the first time I ever really "felt" opera, and I suddenly got it. I got what my dad was listening to all those years. I still come back to this performance from time to time... and every time I find it hard to not tear up a little.

Kevin Neal Thank you so much for reacting to Laura. She is now 17 years old and she is amazing. I have followed her ever since her audition on AGT. It is said that she gives 50% of what she earns for each appearance to charity.

She is the best female singer in the world. Second best overall to Dimash who is not human.

Dimash is a vocal technique master, a wizard and an acrobat, but Laura's natural voice sounds much better, especially her natural vocal timbre. Dimash's natural vocal timbre is a little scratchy .... and the natural timbre is a traitor because nobody can hide it forever. It's lake fingerprints ... For me more important is the quantity and quality of vocal textures (colors and shades) than the vocal range which I would compare with the contrast of colors. Sometimes a wrong combination of contrasts can be harmful to the eyes or hearing.

@@williamkelley2036 It doesn't matter how old is your comment because I actually referred to the natural voice. I know that Dimash is a master vocal wizard because he trained hard since he was five years and he had an excellent vocal training. His mother was an opera singer. The fact that Laura sings more pop doesn't bother me, it bothers me that for more than six years she hasn't done anything to master her classical vocal technique. The fact that she sounds better now than in the past is just an illusion caused by the maturation of the voice, not by the improvement of the vocal technique. In terms of vocal technique for classical music she even forgot what she learned from her first canto teacher, Nicoleta Roman. Laura chose crossover genre for her career. The other crossover singers I know graduated classical singing at masterclass level in order to respect the art and themselves. Laura just dumped it more than four years ago because she probably wants to change what she really is ... and she is the most capable voice for heavy classical music. That not a fair attitude coming from a singer, is just the attitude of a fiddler ... and that makes me sad. I'm sorry, but this is the way a see this problem.

Laura is very talented as well as blessed with inner and outward beauty. She is from the northern Chicago area and is of Romanian decent. Her grandfather wished her to sing in Romania's Got Talent, which she did and won but sadly he died (as far as I know) just prior. Though Grace Vanderwaal won that same year that she also entered America's Got Talent, she did well and her quarter final performance of "The Prayer" was simply phenomenal. She travels, performs and is well loved in Romania as well as Italy. The song written for her to represent Romania in EuroVision entitled "My Father" is worth noting. A very special, seldom viewed and most intimate video is kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idqgadKKptrac4k.html were she sings along to Pavarotti's recording of "Panis Angelicus" (I believe in her mentor and teacher's home). The sensitivity, depth and beauty she displays in this casual setting may well be a glimpse into her potential legacy on stage to move the hearts of millions. P.S. Another interesting performance is entitled " D0285 Laura Bretan - Acolo...." where back in 2010 (before she developed her operatic voice) she sings solo on a large stage at her denomination's (Conservative Romanian Pentecostal) convention in Atlanta. Note the 24 elders to her left. Handkerchief after handkerchief are pulled and not a dry eye remains by the time the stoic little girl is finished.

The traditional religion of the Romanians is of the Orthodox Christian type, the rest of the religions derived from Christianity have appeared much more recently and Romania has accepted them. The right for Romanian citizens to freely choose their religion, no matter which, has always existed in Romania.

Of all the young talents who have evolved at music competitions, Laura is the only one who has been blessed with a voice that has all the qualities required by the opera, and even far above. In fact Laura was born for opera and heavy classical music. The truth is that Laura was the only one prodigy voice out there. At the age of 15, Laura performed one of the most difficult opera arias, "Vissi D'Arte" with a disarming ease. Please stop pausing for "copyright purposes", it is completely unnecessary. Playing the whole thing, for purposes of commentary, is covered under fair use. I have yet to see one of these reaction videos facing any copyright problems with KZfaq. Cutting out parts only serves to make the video that much less watchable.
