If you verb once, then verb again... does that mean you reverb?

I think so

Toon Crate If you say a verb, and then say a verb about something you ate, does that mean you reverberate?

I subscribed for the overwatch meme and the gloriously dry humor. But here I am, being educated about sound engineering in the 80's. And loving it. Youre really insightful and informative. Never stop.

You should check out the Vox "earworm" video they blatantly copied for more cool information on modern music.

As much as I like the vox information videos, I kinda stopped watching when they made a video that said that fade outs are the best in music without giving any good argument.

the problem is that sound of "synth" and "gated reverb" combo is the BEST COMBO in music history lol.. and to try to come up with New sounds just can't beat it.. so the only way to make songs sound as good is to sound like the 80s.. which alot of artists are doing.. but i can't think of any new sound that can beat that HARDCORE DRUM mixed with SYNTH.. lol it's like we're stuck in the 80s for 42 years.. and still here

So far from what I've seen of yours, you're always entertaining and hilarious so when you posted a video like this I was like "huh, is he gonna know what he's talking about since I've never seen him do something on music alone before?" You uh... you a fellow producer or something? How is it I'm not mentally correcting you on anything here? You secretly a sound engineer? Well done and I definitely laughed

Toto Africa actually uses an analogue synthesizer for the main chords, it's a Yamaha CS-80. Source: Oct 82 issue of Keyboard magazine Toto interview. Keyboard Editor: What else is going on in "Africa"? David Paich: "The kalimba is all done with the GS1. It's six tracks of GS1 playing different rhythms. There's a high organ sound that's GS1, and I wrote the song on CS-80, so that plays the main part of the entire tune."

I came here looking for a video on why the new retrowave/vaporwave subgenres don't actually sound like the 80s. Such a video doesn't exist where I've searched, but gated drums are totally on that point. If you're ever interested in the subject, I do hope to see that video sometime in the future! You seem plenty qualified for it :)

FIRST DIGITAL REVERB 1976 NOT IN 1981 !! "EMT (the same company that created the first plate reverb) introduced the first commercial digital reverb system in 1976. The EMT 250 Electronic Reverberator Unit not only contained a highly adjustable reverb processor, but also the capabilities to apply effects like chorus, phasing, and delay." In 1978, Lexicon introduced the Lexicon 224. !!!

I hate to break it to you youngins but Phil had a big hit because he had a lot of money promoting him. Later he claimed he discovered discovered the gated reverb thing but we were all experimenting with it. The Knack was recording reverb and then playing it backwards long before Phil did squat. Who really invented the idea is anyone’s guess but I did it long before that album came out.

I THINK YOU'VE EXPOSED WHY I LOVE REVERB / actually think some songs feel wrong without it. In the first months of my life, i heard 60s 70s folk 80s rock I overuse reverb om my keyboard and i always wondered why it sounded so nice to me, but i realize it's because my aunt babysat me a lot, and the music i seem to obsess over is always 80s progressive rock/post punk

I hate the sound of the 80s, and I feel like everyone today just adores it and fetishizes nostalgia for that decade so much that they fall over themselves with vitriol just defend its signature hollow sound on the internet. The sound of the 80s maybe be appealing, but it was like McDonald’s: it’s shit, but you keep coming back for more. While there were of course exceptions, so much of the 80s sound and music and art in general was just totally vapid, vacuous, shallow and superficial, not to mention that coincided with the ultra-conservative climate of the time that served as a reactionary and terrible push-back against the countercultural revolution and real progress that 60s brought, and the soulfulness and organic sound and climate of the 60s and 70s will always be better.

I don't hate it, but it became oversaturated. When everyone used it, it became to overplayed. I just go by who mastered it and got the right balance. For me it goes to Echo & the Bunnymen.
