I saw a Cadbury bar recently that said “New Recipe! 10% LESS FAT!” How did they achieve 10% less fat? By taking a 100g bar and making it a 90g bar. 10% less product, 10% less fat, same price.

I personally think that when someone sells you a product and includes a free item you're paying for both, just at a cheaper price than both combined.

I was once offered that Godiva chocolate in a flight! I tried being decent by taking just one, but when I opened the wrapping I literally burst out laughing..! Had I seen this video before I'd probably have taken at least a couple more.. 😅

I found a year or so back,Dial rectangular soap bars became hollowed out on one side similar to the cadbury bars you showed. The weight of the Dial package went down dramatically,but the wrapped bar looks the same !!

I've seen companies calling their high fructose corn syrup, water and food colored products juice, by adding 1/2% real juice in it...there needs to be laws against false advertising like that!

There was another thing that apple did a couple years back. They basically made their phones stop working to force customers to buy the newer more expensive models. It’s illegal now, I think, but my mom had to get a new phone because of it

THESE are the moments coming more and more often when I'm just SO GLAD to live in Europe...with the EU's laws and standards and and and and. Like, don't get me wrong. It's not like there's NO malpractices here...But half AND MORE of what you show here is just outright not possible in the European Union.

As a merchandiser in a grocery store, I see this all the time. On one of our cereal resets, many of the boxes changed from 11.2 oz to 10.6 oz and the price remains the same. And last year, the sharing or family size bags of candy (m&m's Hershey's miniatures) changed design. Instead of bags, they are now pouches, and most likely contain smaller amounts than the original bags.

The Apple iPhone 11 only uses one camera for actual pictures, the other cameras may help it focus better, but it does not take the pictures. 🤓

I've always been annoyed by candy bars and their ever decreasing size. Another trick was the "whipped" candy bars. They are like half the weight but they look the same size. People don't realize that they are paying for air. My theory is that in the next 20 years "King sized" candy bars will be the size of the little bite sized ones of today and cost $20 a piece.

Small thing I noticed. Walmart has some small acrylic paints 50c each and larger ones $2.50. The small is 2 fl oz the large 8. If you buy 4 small you would get the same quantity as the large but 50c cheaper.

Every company now participates in "hidden price increases". To put it simply, they reduce the size of the product, reduce the amount of the product, and/or cheap out on ingredients but leave the price the same. Little Debbie is a great example of this. I don't eat that junk but I have noticed over the years just how often they resort to hidden price increases. Same can be said with cereal. Ever notice how cereal boxes are getting thinner and thinner from front to back? Yeah, the contents are being reduced. An excuse used when a customer notices "too much air in the container" of any product is "The contents settle in shipping.". Yeah, sure. You just reduced how much is in there and left the bag and/or box size the same because you still have a lot of the containers in stock. You will adjust the container size once you run out of current container stock. When a price increase is dramatic enough that the company thinks too many customers will notice, they will reduce the size only a little and jack up the price a little to try to smooth it out.

I remember a candy bar (I think it was 3 Musketeers) had a "30% less fattening" version. And when placing the regular and the "less fattening" side by side, the "30% less fattening" was also 30% smaller for the same price...

So glad someone else noticed the gradual size decline over time. absolute garbage.

The rounded chocolate from Cadbury has a good reason behind it. They had done a study and people claimed the round ones taste better although they were presented with the exact same chocolate as square one.

What irks me is when they come out with special deals for new customers only so us customer is they have been faithful customers for years they don't get the good deal only the new people do that come there and leave when the promotional deals over

another thing apple does is they release "new" features that have been out of android for years then they make the phones that have the "new" features 2x as expensive

RE: Toilet paper; even total square footage is of little value. I once took a cart filled with every brand of four roll packages to the produce section where I weighed each package and priced the brand per pound. The point was to determine what I was actually paying for how much paper. The results were surprising. Try it yourself.

My Husband’s cousin bought a whole living room surround sound system one time for a “too good to be true” price.... ultimately we ended up with them and they were literally weighted with rocks glued to the inside to make the feel like they were much better quality than they actually were. No joke!!!!

When I was younger, Coldstone creamery ice cream used to sell dipped ice cream bowls that was the same depth of the paper bowls they would have them in. Now the cone only goes down to about 1/3 the depth, with the top of the bowl being dramatically shorter as well. When I call out store managers for that, they say they have always been the way they currently are, just that it looked bigger just because i was smaller. The cones were their original size all the way up till I was about 24 years old. I'm 33 now. I have not grown anymore in height, just width.

“Shrinkflation” pisses me off the most. I UNDERSTAND that cost of manufacturing goes up and that inflation is a real thing. Just charge more money, and I’ll _probably_ end up paying it.

What about apple advertising the wireless ear pods but then turn around and sell a cord to hold them incase they fall from your ears

a simple fyi my fiance taught me (33 years with no clue this existed) on most upc's on the shelves they'll put the price per oz or price per gram, etc.. it really really helps when grocery shopping.

Kit-Kat used to have 5 sticks. They dropped to 4 & upped the price. Also, some juice bottles have concave bottoms. The bottles are the same size, but less juice.

I remember seeing an advertisement in a language I don’t know. I think advertisers intentionally put ads with foreign languages assuming you dont know the language so you can misclick and visit their site

To make matters worse, the chicken fillet was 1/2 cm in height and covered only half of my palm in size. • McDonalds: bought a quarter pounder cheese burger. The beef patty was 2mm in height.... Yet we pay exorbitant prices for it. Not even to mention how the safety of our vehicles are being compromised. For example, the exact same vehicle that you would purchase in Europe would have 6 airbags. In South Africa you will have 2. I can carry on and on.

RadioShack used to do a pretty shady business tactic with their xmod RC cars. See, the motors and electronics were specifically designed to absolutely drain regular batteries. When I got mine, I put a fresh set of Duracells in mine and it literally drained them in under 30 seconds. I went in to refund them, and they informed me that if I wanted the battery life to last longer, I would have to purchase the radio shack brand rechargeable batteries. on top of that, the swappable gears and driveshaft were all made of plastic and we're prone to breaking easy forcing you to have to order more if you wanted to continue to be able to play with your RC. It really was quite sad. The xmod was actually a great introduction into hobby grade RCs

What about how apple wants you to buy their accessories. Like when you have off brand headphones, charger, aux, a message appears, “ this accessory may not be supported”

9:59 The soda companies did this for a while... shrinking bottles from 20oz to 16.9 oz or 18oz. Now 16.9 Oz bottles are available and always have been, but usually only in 6 or 8 packs. But I know several stores that would sell them for the same price as a 20oz bottle and they would oddly not have any 20oz bottles. I think mfrs (Coke/Pepsi) have gone back to 20oz bottles, but they just upped the price (now a 20oz bottle of soda is about $2 at the store, whereas it used to be $1.50 or so).

Chocolate bars that advertise a bigger bar usually 20% more at the same price. This always precedes a price rise or product reduction where you end up paying more for less after the promotion ends.
