Steph, this video 'triggered all the feelings and I shed tears'. Thank you for triggering all those sweet memories. After my Daddy passed (1992), Mother and I became even closer - we were all the family we had. Every week I made snickerdoodle cookies for her. She was unaware they existed until then - suddenly she was hooked. In order to 'keep her on her toes' I would add a few bits of lemon zest or a few shavings of carob to 2 or 3 cookies - I wanted to see if she noticed. It became a game. (Chocolate would have been too easy to discover.) She refused to share them, she would hide them. It was a fun game we played. I made more than she knew about, I took some to work to share. When she passed im 1999 I left my recipe with her. I thought I would never make them again. The lovely family in this video has changed my mind. I plan to use the Denman recipe and make this tasty treat. 25 years later (although it usually feels like yesterday), I believe it's time to try again. All thanks to Steph, Buddy, Cayden, Conner and Elora.

'Steve' growing up my mother was our baker in my house and I can tell Conor that he is one lucky fellow because my mom had fresh made sweets, cookies, brownies, breads and other fresh baked goodies for my sister and I when we came home from school. Those were good memories that last a life time. 😊

I have my mother-in-law's snickerdoodle recipe. I haven't made them in years though. It doesn't feel the same since she passed 7 years ago. She taught me how to cook and bake more than my mom did lol. I would make her shrimp salad because the family said mine was better. She would always tease me about that.

My mom made these for me when I was a child. Still my favorite and I am 75. 💜

Oh goodness Stephanie - you just took me back to my childhood as well. Cinnamon toast and rice pudding were the best!!! Mom would as take any left over pie crust lay it on a cookie sheet sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and then bake it. Nothing was wasted in our house!

When I was growing up my mom would make Christmas cookies and her and 3 or 4 of her friends would do a cookie exchange. As she progressed in her batches sometimes a few would get burnt. Those were set aside for me and my Dad. Yes, as a child I only got burnt cookies lol. Just kidding when it was the proper time in the Christmas season we got to eat the good cookies!! I love making cookies because it reminds me of my mom.
