This video shows you what happens to a Snickers bar over 43 days. Of course I needed the environment to be humid, so I placed it in a plate of water, (not completely submerged), and kept topping it up as the water evaporated.

Snickers got its name from a family favorite horse. The Mars family, founders of Mars Inc., had a horse named Snickers. When they were developing the Snickers (the chocolate bar) in the 1930s, they chose to name it after their cherished horse.

As from own experience from old chockolate. Chockolate will whiten and it gets a more rought/grainy texture to it when eating it. Also they do not taste "bad" the taste mostly have faded. From once I refused to throw away an over 2 year old chocolate bunny and ate it instead.

Yummy! Interesting how some of the chocolate on top appeared fungus-free even to the very end! Wonder what would happen if you were to rehydrate it (and keep it moist, as you did here) and observe for another month. Would other fungi come in to feast on THESE varied organisms?

A friend of mine goes by the nickname snickers because they found a 6-month old bar in their fridge. Can't believe there's finally a timelapse of one! Would be cool to see how long (if ever?) it would take for one to disintegrate without the water!

Wow your videos are fascinating; I love them! Do you give the mold sunlight? It would be really cool to see if different molds grow in the sun vs shade (like the white one always comes out more when I give it some sunlight by putting it near the window). If you got really good at it, I wonder if you could cast a shadow of your logo and have the mold follow the pattern?

Can you do something similar but in tap water vs rainwater vs bottled water? I am genuinely curious whether bottled water is comparable to or better than tap water. Rainwater supposedly has no chemicals that come from filtering tap water too. So, they all should have different rates of degrading.

I get that without the water not a lot would happen. But the use of the water feels like a cheat to me. Foodstuffs with natural moisture or ones that get all maggoty seem more interesting than seeding the decay with moisture 🤷🏻‍♂️
