i think she's amazing and her 'disinterested' look makes it even funnier. she's being funny while not actually looking like a big ass comedian, which is natural and cool.

I agree, she's trying to come across natural and not deliver her lines "funny". That said, I think its a bad idea. Her jokes will come across funnier if she just loosens up and stops "acting" and just is FUNNY. Timing, cadence, voice pitch, all matter more in comedy than "believing" you're in a situation like a dramatic actor does.

Carmen San Diego You honestly believe a person can still maintain an accent after learning how to speak without one (which is what the American "accent" is). Once you go American, you never go back. There is no accent, it's just speaking.

ag, for the millionth time - Charlize is South African. When she moved to America she couldn't speak English properly yet - therefore, she learnt how to speak English in America - therefore she speaks with an American accent - why is this non-issue always brought up. Also, have you heard an Afrikaans accent? Who would hire her????

By practizing the accent... a lot. It's not like American accent is hard to begin with. Compared to Scottish, Irish, Aussie, any English speaking countries.

Her accent was not eradicated it never existed. I hate to admit, I just don't believe her. I have my reasons.
