I don't play snooker, I'm a rotation player from Indiana USA, however these snooker drills have helped me iron out my stroke to be strait as an arrow. This in turn has helped my "potting" as you call it. As my potting has increased my confidence has increased. My new confidence has lowered my stress level's during really tough shots I need to execute during competition play. Needles to say out of the last 5 tournaments I have played in, I have won 3 of them. When asked how did you get to winning so repeatedly, I respond take a "Break From Life" and learn snooker techniques ..... thanks !!

I think you should definitely let the viewers know about the push practice routine to find the absolute dead center of the cue ball. It's a routine Nic Barrow introduced on his "The Snooker Gym" channel. It gives reliable feedback on your alignment because all the other variables are taken out. Shooting up and down the spots is a great exercise and it usually is good enough but if you're really looking for pinpoint accurate method to find the center of the white the push shot drill is the way to go. The idea of the push practice is to line up to pot the cue ball in any corner pocket. Everything should be done like you normally would when playing a shot. Then get the tip touching the cue ball where you think is the center. When that's sorted push the cue through and you'll instantly see which side spin you're applying. Very few players can pot the white this way immediately. If I remember probably a millimeter off center striking will make you miss pocket.

I've been playing for years, and recently started taking my game alot more seriously. I am right handed, but left eye dominant. Learning to cue in line with my left eye has proven very difficult, and awkward. I've had to change my stance completely. I am 6'3 so that also proves challenging. My right foot is well past the shot line. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work from Denver Colorado 👍

My best ever cueing improvement is the soft cotton glove on my bridge hand. I'm surprised how much wobble and incosistency and unwanted friction it eliminated due to wobbly flesh and skin effect. It also keeps my table cloth clean of dirt and moisture - less ironing. My cueing became dead straight and consistent like no other practice exercise could ever achieve. Can you explain why gloves are not common in Snooker?
@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 5 жыл бұрын
Not sure. Think it’s just because know one else is wearing them
@MrBobZack
@MrBobZack 3 жыл бұрын
The sweaty sticky feeling with a closed bridge (forefinger on top of cue) is more pronounced while snooker players do not wrap forefinger around the cue as done by pool players. So generally speaking, a glove is not needed while using an “open” bridge such as snooker players use. In fact, gloves are superfluous in snooker.

While wearing a glove can be beneficial in pool, the cueing being too smooth can also, create a problem in snooker. The cue may deviate because it slid too quickly. While this does not pose a problem in pool, it is a big deal in snooker because the most minor deviation in snooker can amplify by the time ti reaches the other end of the table.

Thanks for the drills. What is the purpose of having the balk line going from cushion to cushion? I can see why it is needed in the d, but what purpose does it serve outside the d. Alan Waggoner Blanchard, Ok
@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 5 жыл бұрын
Is because Snooker is played on an English Billiards table. English Billiards would be far to easy if you could play shots behind this line once you have CueBall in the D. So That’s what the line is for. It’s still there in Snooker because the game is played on the same table. Also it’s a bit like tennis when they are only going to play singles matches for a tv event or something but they still draw all the lines because that’s what everyone is used to

If you are striking the ball one side or the other what part of the body should we concentrate on. The placement on my right foot I find I crucial if I cue and aim right
@someguy4587
@someguy4587 5 жыл бұрын
One thing to try is placing the tip within a coin width of the cue ball when getting everything aligned. Watch that spot on the cue ball when feathering (taking practice strokes) try to stop the cue at that same spot and distance every stroke while feathering, this creates some muscle memory so your cue will travel straighter and to the desired spot. I was taught this by a person whose draw could be set to extreme, while my draw was pathetic and varied from stop shot to jump the cue ball. My draw has improved quite a bit since, and I still have a long way to go to get controlled draw. Also watch that your cue is aligned straight. I have a nasty quirk to align so my cue goes from right to left across the cue ball. This misalignment used to be severe, and through conscience effort, my alignment is much closer with regular shots, but I still notice very poor alignment if I have to jack up the cue.
@Breakfromlife
@Breakfromlife 5 жыл бұрын
If your doing this it’s actually a good sign. Possibly your whole body isn’t consistently in the right place. It more likely though that you are not quite seeing exactly where the centre is. I find this can change from day to day. Looks the same but the CueBall reacts differently
@TheSnookerShed
@TheSnookerShed 5 жыл бұрын
Break from life yes so I have bought a cue ball with a center dot so I know I am hitting center at the beginning of the delivery, using this with the practices in this video should show up any flaws in the cueing. I find placing my right foot a problem when I get closer to the table being only 5 6 the table just gets in the way so hence I have to engineer a new position to deliver straight. Thank you for the comments
@someguy4587
@someguy4587 5 жыл бұрын
@@TheSnookerShed , delivering the cue straight is my problem as well. This is probably a bad practice, but I find if for shot where follow thru is not needed that if my back cue hand is well forward of the 90° mark my shots are more accurate. My practice sessions at this time is to eliminate this 'flaw' in my stroke. Good luck with your cueing. For those think of getting a practice cue ball with all the markings and grid lines, I have one and found it useful for about two week. A speckle ball can have much longer use as it can be used in play with my mates. I can see the spin on the ball. For practice, the speckle ball can be setup to see how far you are hitting from center just by putting a freckle at the correct spot.

This happens to people a lot. Generally it has something to do with starting off just trying to play the game and then later looking to play better. All I can suggest is to try and keep playing the right shots as you see them. Don’t be too worried about how well your playing because it’s unlikely to affect your next shot
