Snorkelling in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba, Melia Buenavista February 17, 2020
When we first arrived it was calm waters and crystal clear and unfortunately the go pro battery lost its charge! regardless the fish were plentiful, and there are 3 areas that are really good for snorkelling which helps depending on tide and wind. We did have one of the guides take us out well into the bay and on a calm day you can see manta rays and sharks if you're lucky!

Awesome video! We are going to Santa Maria soon. Did you go snorkeling with a tour or on your own?

Christina Mirkovszky we snorkelled about 4 hours a day for 7 days on our own in the 3 bays (and outside the bays towards the small islands but stayed on the inside of the islands) Miguel is a lifeguard at Melia Buenavista.....he took us out one day - there is no charge but we gave him a large tip:) He was simply awesome and gave us so many more tips for the best places there. It’s a small resort with 3 large bays and was amazing to snorkel at. We did not leave the resort since it was so good.

hi! nice video. My question is could I go snorkeling if I am from another resort? I would be to shy to go in the middle beach of coarse but is it ok on the side beaches, or is it not allowed and I will be told so. thanks :)

I would email/contact melia and ask - it’s along walk down the beach but I saw people doing it…..we were staying there at the time ….hope that helps - it’s truly a good snorkel spot
