I'm watching this in the middle of summer to cool off and it worked! haha :) I suddenly miss the snow when the weather is hot like this, and found it so beauitiful to look at, and I just love that fireplace! I was born in Vermont and moved to Maine when I was 5 years old. I rememner my childhood winters being fun, but cold haha and probably complained a lot. This video brings me back fond memories of playing in the snow and having hot coco while my brother and I went sledding down our huge hill in the back of our house! As usual, such a calming and peaceful, yet gently inspiring video Haley. It has been snowing a lot lately in the Hudson Valley, where we live. I find that allowing myself to embrace a slower pace, indulging in puppy cuddles on the couch, a cozy cup of cocoa, noticing the church bells from across the meadow and the sparkle of the snow, are how I stay centered and optimistic.

I've thought about getting a subscription, but then it would bother me if the magazine came all squished and torn, shoved in the mailbox. Sometimes I just read through old copies to relax, because the photography is soooo beautiful! :)

Loved this cozy winter video. Never heard of Willow & Sage magazine. Found it online, but would love to subscribe for the hard copies. Looks like a delicious magazine to read and be inspired by. I too am enjoying the winter months: lots of hot drinks, candle glow, nature walks, reading and finding things that fill my creative well. Taking pop-up workshops and talks at the library as well as talks at my local bookstore. I live in town filled with museums and galleries. So that is inspiring. Today is Imbolc. And I will swap out all my winter greenery and make the transition from winter to a soft winter decor…I have some lovely pussy willows I’d like to decorate with. Maybe take a walk and see what other things from nature I might find to decorate the house with. Happy February! 😊

I'm jealous you got to read in front of the fireplace, even if it was temporary! I lean into winter decor because I feel like I need the pick me up later in winter more than I need it in December. So I make paper snowflakes for the windows and I set up my paper houses with lights behind them like starry skies, and this year I got an aurora borealis projector. Hanging out and journaling, reading, or watching a movie feels cozier and a bit more special! It's finally been cold enough in the past week, so I've been making ice lanterns for the back porch as well. I spent a few minutes getting cute pictures of those last night, which was fun. I try to make sure that I have some kind of project in mind for February. A couple of years ago I spent it revisiting nostalgic books/movies/games (Harriet the Spy, The Egypt Game, Earthbound, stuff from childhood through young adulthood). Last year we got a dog! Oh, and I do try to make it a point to enjoy the winter sun whenever it comes out, even if that just looks a quiet minute drinking coffee on the couch with a view of the sky.

We’ve had a week of snow in the Scottish Highlands and now we are waiting for storm Isha to arrive. I try and get outside everyday for a walk, it helps immensely. My dog is not always so keen though 😂

When I go to bed tonight this is what I want to dream about.....

Haley darling, You are my hero for abandoning such a cozy fireplace at all --EVER--, especially to go frolic in snow 😄 But who could resist waking up to that view!? I live on the beach in Sothern Cali so my winter has no snow and barely dips below freezing but I still get the blah blahs when there are no flowers in my garden or warm sunshine on my bare skin. I dive into books (currently gobbling up Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger) and I do Diamond Paintings while listening to music or podcasts to keep my brain engaged. I also cook new recipes, practice new art skills (crochet and watercolor) and I color a lot, using different mediums. If I can't go to color, then I bring color to me!! 💐

I loved learning a little about your back story here. How did you two meet if you moved east but both are from Montana? How beautiful is it out there. I love the fireplace and how big it is. What a lovely video. I have heard of huckleberries but did not know there was a syrup made from it and that people put it on pancakes either! That is really cool. Your pancakes are nice and fluffy too. Just being with my family in general has brought me comfort. I watch renovation shows with my husband or movies with my husband and kids. It is nice. Simple indoor winter thing to do.

Having spent 10 years of my young life in far NW corner of Washington state and many moments in just those very snowy conditions, I totally understand that calm feeling of crispiness and gentle quietness that surrounds you during a snowfall. I now live in NW Arkansas on the edge of the Ozark’s. It has its own beauty and rare moments I enjoy and often a rare snowfall and when it does, I still want to get out and play and walk in the snow! Mostly with my grandchildren. 😊 But, I often wonder if those times of early childhood instilled in me that craving for the quietness that settles the soul and quietens the mind. We live in such a noisy and busy world. Never slowing down to just breathe. As a Taurus, I feel my ultimate best in Nature and that quietness and gentleness that comes with it. I enjoy your quiet soft voice as you move us through your gentle life. It stills those kinetic vibrations that keep us all tense in this world of speed and fast pace lives.
