The perfect snow is falling and we're homesteading in it. We have fun almost getting stuck with the log cabin wood, go downhill skiing and our truck breaks. We also prepare for the upcoming snowstorm and freezing temperatures to arrive this weekend. Thank you so much for watching! Take care, -Shane and Lindsey Krumrie

Yay Krumries. Hi guys. I'm glad you had fun skiing. Hey Shane! You didn't really waste $400. Those plugs were on there way out anyway. You were "ahead of the game," plus if you took it in; surely they would find a million other expenses for the truck. Money well spent. Take care guys. 😊

Hello!! Skiing was super fun, love being in the woods, skiing! We were pretty impressed with Upper Michigan. It is always good to give the truck a tune up but was a little disappointing that it didn't run after all that. Hopefully the next thing I try will work out! Thank you so much for watching. Hope you have a good night.

It is good to have the new plugs and coils but I wish that was all it was. It did start when I added the starting fluid so I still have some work to go with adding the new fuel pump, hope that works. Thanks for your comment!

Hello! Yes, homesteading is tough... we find it so nice to have a variety of things to do in the week. It's so nice to get out and do something physically with my hands - I appreciate that so much. Thanks for the nice comment! Wow, that sounds like a super cold arctic front out there in Montana. Stay safe and warm. It's coming our way very soon. I know we'll be really warm in the cabin but the generator will sometimes act up when it's below zero and I also worry about my chickens. Fingers crossed that all goes well! Take care and thanks for watching!

@@KrumriesCabin have you checked the fuel pump relay in the fuse box? Pull it out and check for continuity, just a thought before getting into changing out the pump! Good luck 🍀

Hello fellow northern Wisconsinite! With that mouse nest having been there, I’d check the wires all the way along before sticking too much money in. It’s a decent possibility that the little buggers chewed part way through the fuel pump wire and it broke the rest of the way off while you were installing the coil packs. Also, I’m guessing you checked the air filter box? Good luck, we’ll be looking forward to the next video!

Well, I am sure you watch youtube enough to know, you should never, ever just start replacing parts, without checking them first. Could be a fuelpump, could be wires, a mouse, whatever bit broken, check the wires first! And, yes, check, test fuel pump relay also, I guess it did not hurt replacing those plugs/ coils anyway, depens how many miles you have in your truck??, and...I did not see you checking sparkplugs, you ALWAYS have to check space in them, even they are new, you can google correct space, and also torque them in a specs!!!! Good luck =)

Thank you, Ideally we would have a nice shop to do it in but just don't have that yet. One day though! I have more parts arriving in a couple days and it's going to be -10F so we'll have to see how this is going to go. I don't think it's going to warm up around here until the following weekend. At least the tank is already off so that is good. Thanks so much for your comments. Have a great day!

I knew listening to your truck from past experience that it was lack of fuel pressure and like your average guy you would not have a gauge to check the fuel rail. Napa is a typical parts store, here’s what you need, well shit that didn’t work, now you need this part. Just want to sell you parts whether you need them or not. Hope you down around a quarter tank of fuel and not full. Good luck, probably will need new tank straps as well.

How are land prices up in your area? Looks so nice to build a place and pull the plug on over populated areas. Thanks
@KrumriesCabin
@KrumriesCabin 5 ай бұрын
I think it really depends on the land you get... if it's just raw land with no well and septic and it's off grid like ours you can get it for about $1,000 an acre. If you're on a lake the price goes way up. What's so nice is Northern Wisconsin has so many forests and not a lot of people. Very quiet. Thank you for watching!

Thx for the answer on the tarp. Was curious. I'm looking for a small town to retire in (with some snow) where there are people to help if I can't do it all by myself. I do want power though because I love to sew. I want a little garden so I can play in the dirt and 🪴 a little bit of food

We have a cottage in NE Wisconsin. Our main source of heat is a wood stove. So nice to sit in front of it and read. I cover our wood with vinyl tarps, but the top layer of wood is always wet. Does anyone have a suggestion other than to build a shed? I am 78 and have arthritis in both hands so my building skills are diminished.
@KrumriesCabin
@KrumriesCabin 4 ай бұрын
Nice to hear from other folks in Wisconsin. The woodstove is a nice way of heat for sure. We find that the wood dries out nicely under a porch so long as you bring it up about a week in advance. If you're burning nicely cured wood that isn't still green, only about a week of drying under the porch is what we do, otherwise it's okay outside in the snow until you need it. Happy cottage living and thanks for watching!

Why not store your food outside covered maybe in a building, like you did with the chicken coop, instead of running the refrigerator? If you lease a vehicle, you will have a new vehicle every 3 years or so and you won't have any problems but a payment every month. Having a used vehicle is constant problems depending how old it is.
@KrumriesCabin
@KrumriesCabin 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Storing our food outside is challenging but a good idea - we did have to do it for awhile there when our gas fridge broke a couple years back. We had some major issues with things freezing because the temperatures here can be frigid. It's a good thing though to consider more options, we do like to have things at the ready right in our kitchen - but our root cellar is a work in progress and we'll hopefully get that up and running this summer which should be able to house some cold items too int he outer portion, like cheese and produce. Thanks again, hope you have a good night!

Bad Gas ??? was your last fill up 87 octane I still would add a couple bottles of heat or seafoam just to know that you checked all the boxes befor going to the new fuel pump. Also I agree tarps suck for covering wood, did that my 1st year never again..
@KrumriesCabin
@KrumriesCabin 5 ай бұрын
Your thoughts are interesting, I have no idea if it was bad gas but I suppose it could be. I have the gas tank off already, I'll probably install the fuel pump, hope that works. If not, I will definitely look into adding the heat, this is the second comment about that. Thanks!
