Okay. So for his first pass he actually pushes snow to the left, which threw snow over the already plowed path. He should have angled the plow to the right, so he wouldn’t have to go over an already plowed path. Remember this. Time is money!!

I would like to see a segment on how to properly load a trailer. I know just the bare minimum like the heavy stuff should be over the trailer axles and lighter stuff near the tung. now that I am older I have a lot more toys. I put one sidexside, two 4wheelers, and three dirtbikes on a 8.5 by 16 foot aluminum flatbed trailer. of course I don't have a weigh station to check my work like you guys do. so you should do a segment on something like this

The plow will wear out the front end much faster than not having it on. You can't get away from the forces you add to the front end and drive line. Wouldn't say it makes the trucks useless, but i've been in a fair few that straight was 45 degree's one way or another or alternating even on the steering wheel.

It is a LOT easier to plow on a smooth flat lot. The real-world reality is that there are many obstructions that you will be working over and around. That's why I prefer Fisher plows, with their trip edge. When you hit an obstruction, you do not dump the whole load of snow. Even more important, it minimizes the shock being transmitted to the frame.
@znovosad555

Lol first tip to plowing is not to buy a boss. Two you really shouldn't angle your blade when traveling. It allows it to get caught on the ground and causing uneven wear on the corners of the cutting edge. It also blocks a headlight component so you only have one usable headlight and noticeable blinker. This video is a joke, put together by ram and boss. Do not take advice from the guy in the video
@bjmxd
@bjmxd 7 жыл бұрын
or you buy a plow with extra headlights above it so you dont have problems seeing
@znovosad555
@znovosad555 7 жыл бұрын
bjmxd that's what I'm talking about. Angling it while raised for transport will block the headlights and turn signal on the head gear of the plow on one side.
@swo-hooligans4436
@swo-hooligans4436 7 жыл бұрын
Zach Novosad years ago it was done like that to keep the truck from overheating. it also reduces width when travelling threw lanes of traffic. I often do that. my v blade it's a non issue
@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power
@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power 7 жыл бұрын
Zach Novosad if you run a junior plow, it's fine to leave it straight, but if you have a wide plow in an area where there isn't alot of room, then you want your truck profile as narrow as possible. if a truck is running a plow, only a negligible percentage of oncoming traffic is worried about front turn signals; they're waiting to see where you go before they make a move in front of you.

The ecoboost can't handle a plow. The plow blocks too much air flow into the radiator/cooling system. No manufacturer recommends installing any plow on a ecoboost.
@dragonbutt
@dragonbutt 8 жыл бұрын
Keegan Bray All the more reason for me to want to see one attempt to plow snow. Snow = cold = cooling issue mitigated somewhat. Apparantly theres teeny tiny plows approved for F-150 + Ecoboost use www.snoway.com/news.cfm/5/sno-way-is-only-plow-approved-for-use-on-f150

It seems that way but when plowing the truck is under a higher load than usual and it's not moving as fast (less air flow).

Driving down the road with the blade angled to the right is NOT the right way. When the blade is angled that way and you make a turn to the right at an intersection, the blade will be over the center line and in the other lane.
@alanack67

Wrong, very unsafe to angle to the left. If angled to the left and you touch the snowbank on narrow road, It will throw the ass end of the truck into the middle of the road and cause an unsafe situation

I have heard the same thing. That once you plow with a truck it ruins it. I could see why you would say that. But I'm not sure if it's true or not. You would think that using a plow would put the front end through a lot of abuse.
@unitedgray
@unitedgray 9 жыл бұрын
Chris Reese It's mostly in the transmission and the front suspension. Constantly going forward and reverse for hours on end puts a lot of wear on the transmission and 500+ lbs constantly hanging off the front of the truck wears out the springs/ shocks. I would never buy a truck that I knew was used to plow. Chances are it's probably OK if it was an HD truck, but I wouldn't risk it.
@travis8352

Chris Reese plows ruin frames and front ends of trucks over time. i bought a 1995 dodge cummins that was used as a plow truck since it was new and the frame is cracked in 2 spots. front end was just shot. but the tranny was rebuilt and only ahd 500 miles on it.

Snow plows don't ruin trucks, incompetent snow plow truck drivers ruin trucks. I plowed snow for 15 years with my 94 Chevy 1500, yes a half-ton Chevy. I bought it in 94, added a 7.5' western poly plow in 99 and sold the combination in 2014 when I got my Chevy 2500HD. And this truck had a V-6 and (gasp) a wide ratio 5-speed manual transmission. It is all about the driver, not the plow.

While I didn't do it, the guy that owned the truck and trained me threw the transmission from gear to gear without regard to the future. If I'm going to spend near $10k on a plow setup, promise my availability to people and put a company name on the line, prepping the truck for a plow is the least of any concerns.
