Happy New Year Mark. Great video as always. I was wondering what the size of your blower is and what the PTO speed is on your tractor to run the blower. I'm sure it's posted somewhere in another video, but also wondering with the really deep snow do you find you need to over run the blower in order to keep it moving at a reasonable ground speed.

Happy New year to you and yours. Thanks for watching. I run my pto at 400 to 540 depending on the snow. The wetter it is the higher I have to run it. In 8" snow I have to run about .5 to 2 miles per hour. My blower is 6 feet wide.

@@markwholbrook Thankyou for that info. That gives me a solid number to shoot for with this project. We are running at 2200 RPM on the blower engine and using about 85 horsepower. Problem is we are running the blower to fast, and bogging down the engine in 2 feet of snow. We have more speed then torque at this point. So I will be changing out the large sprocket on the main chain drive from a 48 tooth to a 60 tooth to get the blower speed back down to a reasonable 500 to 560 RPM and give me more engine torque for deeper snow. My ground speed is around 3 to 5 miles per hour, and we are not piling snow in front of the blower.

@@VikingShipExplorer I wish I had 85 hp! Good luck getting through 2 feet of snow. I have to about .5 mph and 540 pto speed when I do that.

Yes just my neighbors and driving distance with my tractor since I don't have a trailer.

Hi! Mark, have you ever measured how much diesel per hour your L4760 uses on PTO use?

It uses about 1 gallon an hour from what the dashboard says.

@@markwholbrook That's not bad really, this shows common rail engines are quite a bit more fuel efficient that mechanical injection, which is what mine is (48.3Hp). I use somewhere between 1.25-1.3 gallons/hr on PTO.

What is the grade on that driveway you’re going up?

It is about 10% grade. That's why I need chains on all 4 tires.
