A continuation from the VHS trailer reel video I uploaded and, unlike that, it doesn't seem to have been uploaded by anyone else before me (unless anyone would like to prove me wrong) so...here you go! This includes the fantastic "Making Of" featurette they put right after the film that has previously only been on KZfaq as a "shot through a TV" screen capture, which REALLY isn't as good as having it uploaded like this, eh? Anyway, ENJOY!
CONTENTS!:
1) "SOOOOOME DAAAAAY WHEN SPRIIIIIIING IS HEEEEERE" goosebumps / Le Fin / 1993 Remaster credits
2) The Making of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (This lasts for about 11 minutes and its absolutely brilliant so I'm not going to say anything else on this additional note here, just enjoy!)
3) "Coming Soon from Walt Disney Home Video"
4) Promos for "Mickey's Christmas Carol", "Sing Along Songs: The Twelve Days of Christmas" (Think this was what my hospital played in the children's ward cafeteria when I was in hospital once. Other than that, haven't seen this, looks nice though.), "A Walt Disney Christmas", "Winnie the Pooh & Christmas Too!" & "Sing Along Songs: Very Merry Christmas Songs" (...I should of waited until this Christmas to upload this now, ah whatever, no harm in something like this early, right? ;) )
5) "Also Available from Walt Disney Home Video"
6) "Bambi" Home Video Promo (Ah Disney, never stop misadvertising your infamous "this film ruined me, his mother died out of nowhere" movie as fun and whimsical.)
7) "Also Available from Walt Disney Home Video" (Twice? Oh, okay...)
8) "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" trailer
9) Jim Henson Home Video (AWR YEAH!)
- "A Muppet Movie"
- "The Great Muppet Caper" (Nice effect to literally turn London "upside down". ;) )
- "It's The Muppets!" (Who else was p-ed off when the 2011 Muppet movie changed the location of the studios of "The Muppet Show" from London to California? Just me? Well, okay.)
- "Muppet Sing Alongs: Billy Bunny's Animal Songs!" ("ROAR! ROAR! That is what we really do BEST!" Gosh, I would of loved this video as a kid, never had it though.)
10) "Look Out for Future Releases from Walt Disney Home Video"

Fun fact: the guy who animated the entire scene was really proud it that when Walt decided to not put it in the film cause it felt unnecessary. He felt so heartbroken by this that when Walt started doing Pinocchio, he felt pity for him and decided to make him be responsible for animating Jimminy Cricket.

When I watched this interesting documentary short on the making of Snow White as a kid in the 1990's on VHS it was interesting. But as a grown adult watching this again after so many years, it has gotten more and more interesting. Amazing into how so much time, money, effort, fear and sweat was endured into the making of a pioneering full length animated film. The computer animated films of today are just a load of peer utter disgrace and shame. Showing no interest or humor that are seen in the older classics. Snow White is a true treasure of a film.

+Great Western MGM I couldn't have said it better myself. I was a kid in the 90s too, so I guess you could say that we were spoiled to have grown up with such great animated films--it amazed me back then (and still does) how people could bring simple drawings to life like magic. And I agree that from my experience, CG animation doesn't have the same warmth, depth, and life of hand-drawn traditional animation. Even limited animation styles are more enjoyable for me despite being looking less "realistic." And because of the false stigma that animation is only for kids, most animation today is loaded with immature, childish humor that makes it less enchanting and more crass. I briefly considered an animation career but decided against it once I realized that most of the feature film animation on this side of the Pacific was going to CG, a move that greatly saddens my heart. How I wish we could have more animators take the kinds of risks that Walt Disney did with Snow White, or that others like Don Bluth made later on.

@Denchar1138, one of the few reasons I've been holding back on replacing my 2001 VHS copy. It has the "Making of" (commentated slightly differently by Angela Lansbury), sing-along songs and a 2001 studio rendition of "Someday My Prince Will Come" performed by Barbara Streisand, set to certain scenes of the film. I know I probably won't get the same means on a DVD upgrade and that's a childhood memory for me.

Don Ameche ( born Dominic Felix Amici; May 31, 1908 - December 6, 1993) was an American actor, comedian and vaudevillian. After playing in college shows, repertory theatre, and vaudeville, he became a major radio star in the early 1930s, which led to the offer of a movie contract from 20th Century Fox in 1935. He did the voice act of Shadow the dog. from Homeward Bound. The Incredible Journey.

Just as Ward Kimball was about to quit his job at the studio, hen Walt gave Ward Kimball the assignment of animating Jiminy Cricket, who carries most of the picture and is in most of scenes in the movie. Ward Kimball got to work with Cliff Edwards (then a massive film and music star). All good things come to those who wait!

Anti-Röra Creations Animated movies both CGI and handdrawn take a lot of hard work and effort to get right even on a basic level, but CG and handdrawn are made both in different ways and require different amounts of effort and attention. I do wish there were more handdrawn animated films out there that were released in cinemas, but I'd also personally would love it if animation itself wasn't limited to just "kids fodder" like a lot of animation is. Animation should be for everyone! But I mumble, I just think animation's an artform that people really should embrace a bit better.

It really did set the world alight in 1938 and was really successful on every reissue and outsold Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park, when the studio finally released it to VHS in 1994. Cecil b. While this is the 1994 video release with the behind the scenes, I have 2001, with the commentary done by the wonderful Miss Price, Mrs Potts and balloon lady herself, Angela Lansbury. I even remember the way she starts it off (very similarly I will add). "It doesn't take a magic mirror to know that the Walt Disney studio has brought us some of our most treasured film memories. That it was all started by a little princess. The one that started it all, and is still the fairest of them all." My copy also has the Barbara Streisand rendition of "Someday My Prince Will Come." Next to Hello Dolly! it was probably my first intro to the wonderful BABS and loving her voice.

I never had the 2001 edition of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (I chalk it down to how oddly they marketed it, given they zeroed in on the Evil Queen and that weirding me out) so that's actually pretty neat! Would've actually kinda dug that. Maybe that stuff's on my Blu-ray copy, hmm...

i just can't imagine how hard these people had to work, it must've been hellish sometimes. i mean the ends justified the means, but those poor animators must've been pushed to their absolute limits with the amount of detail in movement required in these films

Some of them apparently booked hospital appointments in advance so they can recover from working on something this huge! Which sounds silly now, but this was back when making a project like this was still a huge rarity and still very new to most people so...yeah. o_o
@alking7655
@alking7655 5 жыл бұрын
@jhibbit1, and to think it took 24 separate drawings for one second of film. You can understand why it was time-consuming and sometimes took 4 years to make. The reason why they knew they had to make the money back and the fact they made so much profit was a bonus. So, I can kind of see why it was justified in future films to at least use the same movement cells for other films. For example, Snow's dance movements are used with Maid Marian in "Robin Hood." Moreover, while so time-consuming, I still absolutely love the beauty behind 2D animation and wish they would go back and do more of it.

I agree with you there. Its definatley longer than on other Disney releases. I think the reason it seems longer though is because of the "Making Of Snow White" documentary being placed after the movie. I seem to remember watching other tapes like "Fox and The Hound" and "Aristocats" where there were only one or two previews at the end and thinking "What.....is that the end already?"

Enough that Ward Kimball, the supervising animator on that scene, was going to quit. But then Walt gave him the job of supervising animation on Jiminy Cricket in "Pinocchio" to make up for it. Thank God Ward stayed, otherwise we wouldn't have Jiminy, the mice and Lucifer, the Cheshire Cat, or the Mad Hatter and March Hare.

i don't think technology is bad in any way, it is a gift how easier the production for these kind of work got However, movies nowadays, animations or blockbusters, they have all this money and technology to make a good movie yet it lacks soul; watching this, or idk even silent movies, a time where it was so much difficult to embody special effects like in Metropolis, even if the effects were rudimentar they capture our interest to the end How much money and time and work was invested to make Snow White, delivered a masterpiece. In my mind it was made by people who loved the project, that's why it was treated with so much love I mean, look at this animation, look how fluid and soothing it looks, we have computers yet animators can't achieve this on machines; that's why i will always prefer the old-fashioned way of animating Snow White is a masterpiece

I feel that Mark Elliot (the narrator of this behind the scenes featurette) ought to have been a documentary narrator for *Star Wars*, *Harry Potter*, *Power Rangers*, *The Chronicles of Narnia*, *Percy Jackson*, and *The Lord of the Rings*.

"I didn't know what I had or what would happen or anything, we had the family fortune, we had *everything* wrapped up in "Snow White". In fact, the banker I think was losing more sleep than I was!" Funny how you wanted a written translation over what he said when he's speaking English pretty clearly anyway but, alright. =P

I remember seeing the Music in Your Soup part somehow before I ever saw the movie and I loved the part where Dopey swallowed his spoon. I was disappointed when I learned that scene was cut.

I've heard that one of the deleted scenes from Snow White featured the back story of how the first queen gave birth to her and how her father, the king, married the evil queen after the first queen died. Is that true? I know there have certainly been some licensed Disney merchandise that has featured this part of the story (and I've seen some of it).

And like I said to the other guy who echoed the same thoughts, I was more scared of the fact that straight afterwards, the VHS just becomes this big, black seemingly never-ending abyss that ends eventually by going into white noise. That irked me, like as if...well...if I kept watching the white noise, suddenly something may appear but I'd be too worried to look. VHS. It's a beautifully nostalgic format but also one that through its functions, can be so creepy too. xD But I digress~

As someone a little bit older than Snow White, 1937 I can't help but think what a tragedy it was for Walt Disney 1900 - 1966 to die so young of tobacco addiction. Cigarette makers have been as sleazy as the illegal drug dealers with their miss information campaigns. You know. "Cigarettes aren't addicting, they're habituating." as if there was difference as for decades they were hooking 3,000 school kids a day on their filthy, but highly profitable product.

I used to be afraid of that 'Look out for future releases' thing too. There's no Mickey or creepy 'hmmmmm' sound at the start. It just appears out of nowhere.

The more I watch this, the more tempted I am to share my memories of how things looked different at a young age. 12:22 and 12:49 When Mickey and Pluto look out the window, it always seemed like Mickey’s face had Quagmire’s huge chin and Dr Neo Cortex's moustache. It really did seem that way since it blacked out the first instance. Even today, the thought of it lingers in my head. :-S

When I was a kid, it wasn't that which freaked me out and creeped the fudge out of me, it was the realisation that straight after that message...well...the VHS ends so all that's left is a big, black silent abyss before going to white noise after what at the time felt like an aching eternity. ;) But there we go, different strokes for different folks.

Food for thought there. Well, I can tell you that that I wasn't one of those 3,000 a day. Never smoked in my life. And it'll proberbly remain that way as I don't have any interest in it anyway and I know why they're so bad. It would of been interesting to see how the world would of been like if Walt Disney lived for longer, that's for sure...still, thanks for the great comment! Makes a nice change of pace from the usual stuff I get for these uploads, that's for sure.
