Ali is a Finn sheep. The owner coats the herd to help keep the fleeces clear of debris. This shearing took place in the spring, just before lambing 🤘🏻

She makes it cool. I watched others do it and it's torture to the sheep. Especially the nicks and the blood. The sheep are in distress and it stressed me out. Not with her though.

@@Dawn-Songswhat are you implying? The fleece wasn't that long & done in the correct time (yearly), and appropriately before she gives birth, so the fleece doesn't get "sticky" with birthing fluids. Why wouldn't the ewe (or lamb) live a long happy life?

"There we go" what a sweet hug at the end. I loved how you held her head during part of the shearing. Seemed so reassuring to her, as opposed to just 'making her hold still' or something. That looked like a heavy and dense fleece, with a good sized amount of lanolin, if not just the lighting and color seeming more on the yellow tinted side.

Hi to both of you, I hope you are both doing well and enjoying the Summer wherever you are at the moment. This sheep was so calm waiting for it’s yearly hair cut, having a little tap dance while whatever she was thinking about amused her 😁. I love it when the animals you shear are so pink and white under all the mucky wool on top. Thanks for making my day. Have a relaxing weekend together, even if you have to work be relaxing in the evenings xx ❤️🌻🐝

Question: do some sheep ever get sunburned after being shorn?
@ariag.87458 ай бұрын
I am glad you asked that and I hope Katie responds or does a Q&A at some point and answers that question because when an animal is shorn really close and you see that pink skin you can't help but worry just a little that they might get sunburned once they're outside again.

You’re not gonna believe this, but, small, homesteading, ranch with sheep, needing to be shared, bought the sheep clippers and sheared a ram. He was unsure at first but if I kept the blade off him he relaxed! What an experience- at the final few touch ups didn’t even need to hold him! So cool when they trust you!

Raising gives some good benefits, the wool can sales it for company to make clothing or blanket sheets for the winter needs. The milk can provide very good nutrition needs for the family and her meat is very tasty when it's about time to get butchered.
