Women of the world unite: Together we bring in light! The artist village of Ruigoord has teamed up with Snowapple Collective and sisters from all over the world to address a pressing global issue - the water crisis.
This music video, created by Keri Pickett (Pickett Pictures LLC), follows an art residency during the 50th anniversary of Landjuweel festival in Ruigoord, collaborating with Snowapple, multiple musicians and international indigenous water protectors. Ruigoord is a community outside of Amsterdam formed by squatters in 1973 which ultimately became a harmonious magnet for seekers of music, freedom and art. More than 120 people were part of this project. The Water Song is about togetherness, protecting nature, sisterhood, and joy.
Our goal was to create art and music, and to exchange knowledge about our cultures, histories, and joyful actions. But above all, to honor the water. The water that connects us all, flowing between our countries. The water that builds our bodies, and the water that sustains our life. Water, creativity, and female energy have something special in common: they all need to flow freely.
Our guests from native lands shared knowledge from their ancestors about how to live harmoniously with nature. We thank their wisdom with the lyrics “Teach me to be water”...
