Improve your snowboarding turns and snowboarding technique by employing 'Torsional Twist' into your riding! In this video I teach you how to become a better snowboarder by using your knees and ankles properly. This important technique is often used by beginner snowboarders when they start learning, but then forgotten about as they progress. However it is very important when creating grippy short radius turns on your snowboard.
If you would like to have snowboard lessons with me here in Alpe d'Huez, France, then take a look at my website below to find out more:

This is explained alot better than in most other beginner videos. You explain how to get the board on edge perfectly. Many videos say "use your shoulder" to initiate the turn which is bad, because later you want a complete seperation of upper and lower body. Turning with the "levers" (lower body) is an awesome explenation

Great videos Malcolm, I’ve been snowboarding for over 20 years now myself but I’m not an instructor and I can’t explain properly how I do what I’m doing. I have just bought my 11 year old son his first board and teaching the very basics is easy enough but this lever analogy for torsional twist is genius Malcolm. I didn’t really know that that’s what I do when I turn! But now I can explain this better to my son. I’ve been watching a few more of your videos now and you explain everything clearly and well. Great job, and thanks.

The lever analogy and using your knees and hips to control your movement is really working in my brain. I’ve watched a lot of other videos and they usually say to just point while leaning in that direction, and then using the shoulders to turn but like you said it’s a delayed movement compared to using the hips + knees first

I literarily just did a Black using the lever technique at a local mountain here in Pennsylvania, USA! Turning on Black has never been so easy! It’s easy breezy! Not scary anymore when I just focus on pulling and pushing the levers! Thank you again, Malcolm!

You're my savior. Watched this video before hitting the slope. I went from not being able to turn toe-side at all to carving in 6 hrs, and this is my first season snowboarding. Thank you so much!!!!!

Man your videos break things down in a way that is so easy to understand and was so helpful for me. I went from zero experience or ability to carving down the mountain and hitting small jumps in only 3-4 days on the mountain so far. I can tell this season is going to be AWESOME THANK YOU so much

That's awesome man, glad you're loving snowboarding. I'll be back with more tutorials as soon as the resorts here in France are able to open back up, but that probably won't be until the end of Jan 😥

@@malcolmmoore here in the USA the restrictions are very relaxed. In my state at least we are able to buy passes online and ride the lifts with our own groups which has been amazing. On the flip side the virus is ripping through the country and many I know are infected so I'm not so sure it is a good trade off. hope you and yours stay safe and you're able to start making some runs in no time!!
