Franklin was a hybrid character..he was based on multiple people

I have zero doubt that a large portion of the show was about Freeway......the fact that they refused to acknowledge it and pay the man is absurd......but hey......that's the American way.

The show was based on several people from L.A., not just Freeway Ricky. Louie and Jerome was based on Jemeker Thompson and her husband. Leon was based on Cornell Ward. Franklin was based on Freeway Rick and Waterhead Bo. And probably others...these are the people I know they pulled from.

Freeway Ricky Ross was definitely the motivation for Franklin Saint & Snowfall, but the show didn't steal his life story or anything like that.

It’s not the same story, but inspired by it. Ricky didn’t know the government was behind bringing drugs in until after he was arrested. And they didn’t supply him directly either. Snowfall is my favorite show so there’s that too🤷🏾‍♂️

The real story is that he is still alive to tell it!

I think it was tennis he got the scholarship in, not football. I remember him talking bout playing locally w Richard and the Williams sisters.

The CIA aspect is really the only Freeway Rick tie in. And its likely other dope dealers at the time had CIA connections back then too. Franklin's persona was nothing like Rick's.

When you really think about it, I say he helped destroy a lot of families and lives with drugs and I don’t think you should be rewarded for that seeing thats the info they used

This story also parallels Bryan “Waterhead Bo”Bennet, almost more than Freeway to be honest. Y’all should look him up. Bo came home after a quarter century. He just keeps quiet

The real question is does Freeway Rick owe the families that he destroyed by selling that poison in his community compensation? If Freeway is owed anything compensation from the show it should go directly to those families… Period. Freeway is not a hero, he’s not a victim, he is just a dude with blood on his hands.

Ever since John singleton died that show hadn’t been the same jus has a different feel or vibe when watching like the writting has changed jus don’t give since he past at first it was competing with power and empire

The Untouchables was a spin off from the Al Copone days and Snowfall is no different the producers used The Freeway Ricky Ross story and put a spin on it to make the TV series.

That show is addictive. I tried to avoid it. I caught that episode when Melody father had his gun n badge taking by that lady. I never stopped watching after that. I never saw that bullet proof vest episode

If people didn't notice the first episode is a nod to freeway Rick Ross freeway got the name cuz he lived under a freeway in snow fall franklin lived under a freeway

But the show wasn’t 100% his life story.I could see if it was a biopic but it wasn’t . Some of it may have been inspired by his story yes. But it’s public knowledge he doesn’t own the rights to a fictional tv show story. It’s fiction not intended to tell his life story . Freeway just needs to make his own biopic series or movie if that’s what he wants out there because snowfall isn’t that.

Free way Rick personally told me they stole his story after they asked him to be part of the production. They went behind his back and changed a few things.

There's a lot of cats from the 80s this could base of off I mean New Jack City was based off several Real-life people as well as how they ran their operations. I'm pretty sure Rick has some validation to stuff from the show that's from him, but others probably do too.

Since the show came out I've been explaining to people who haven't watched it that its loosely based on Freeway Rock Roas and the _Iran-Contra Affair_ whenever I recommend it to people.

Look up Waterhead Bo & Whitey Robinson (Whitey Enterprise/ The Enterprise) . Their stories are way more comparable to Franklin in Snowfall then Freeway Rick Ross. Freeway Rick is just more known in Pop Culture, so most people assume it’s based upon rick & the CIA Involvement. Whitey Robinson was an actual consultant on Snowfall & Franklin grew up in the Same Neighborhood as Whitey. Freeway Rick grew up in the Hoovers, Whitey Robinson & Franklin both grew up in Broadway Gangsta Crip turf. Freeway Rick was buying thru a CIA Informant, While Franklin Character was buying directly from a CIA Agent.

Im sure the actor who played Franklin Saint did actually go talk to the show people (including John Singleton) but he is only the actor on the show

while i do feel like MAJORITY of the show was based on ricky…the amount of people that were compared to franklin during the speculation time before we straight up knew is jsut too close as well so i feel like he’s a hybrid of people

The real rick Ross confirmed the first book he sold about his life for 100 bucks before it was released, guy that bought it took the story and made snowfall from it without a single mention of Rick. I love snowfall one of my favorite shows along with breaking bad. When I first saw the show I saw alot of similarities to life of Rick Ross.
