My favourite part of 6 is how even though Saejima isn't playable nor relevant to the story, the writers _still_ threw him in prison again.

Shinada flashing every couple of frames was genuinely hilarious. Also yeah, I wished 6 had more legacy characters since this was gonna be Kiryu's last hurrah. Nice to see Date, Akiyama and the kids.

Consuming your drink from the vending machine out in the street is the COOLEST feature that I desperately wish we could get back. I have no idea how such a small, but well detailed feature hasn’t been seen since. Oh, and that well detailed and developed character Shinada. Sega, bring him back. Plz. Shinada, my beloved

What's really cool is that with the new engine, they put their blood, sweat, tears, and cum into making the story cutscenes look fucking amazing. They didn't need to make such delicate shots like the baby formula in the opening but they did. Definitely the most beautiful Dragon Engine game in the series, and it hasn't gotten close to this quality again until Lost Judgment, and judging by trailers, the next two games are gonna either replicate the Lost Judgment standard, or maybe even look as good as Y6 again.

Kiryu's DE moveset seems to be more inclined towards Crowd Control, fitting since DE fights usually have way more enemies but it's a bit annoying having these elaborate drawn out animations when, with the previous moveset it was snappy, fast and responsive. I think the grabs exemplify this the most.

It honestly feels weird Tanimura didn't appear in 6 (or Judgement). The dude would be out for blood if he learned Little Asia was on fire

Despite its many flaws, I absolutely adore this game, and it's easily the one I can't wait to replay! The cast was lacking previous key characters, but the new ones were great (especially Someya!)

speaking of yakuza 6, it is worth mentioning that the encounters are definitely shorter than in the earlier entries of yakuza, which in my opinion is a huge plus;

For me the most outrageous thing this game didn’t do was give a nice send off to Kiryu and Komaki relationship. Komaki not even showing up was fr offensive to me

I honestly enjoyed how in 6 there's a bunch of little dudes kiryu can just one tap. It really makes him feel more like a badass veteran fighter at least that's how I always saw it

I have a soft spot for Y6 just because Onomichi is only about 40 mins from the place I taught English back in the mid-2010s. I never got it on PS4 but if I had known, I definitely would’ve picked it up sooner!

Y6's combat was a bit off, but it was unique, it was short enough to not get old, and there werent any frustrating fights. I really like Y6 actually.

Strange of RGG to do a lot of experimentations and changes for a "finale" game (at the time). It's almost like they used 6 as a lab rat, which is kind of a shame tbh. I wish Yakuza 6 was more polished, it being a major plot point of Kiryu's saga and all.

man, i really dunno. I don't think we need more of something that was really a perfect small arc. I wouldn't mind a passing mention, but IMO Shinada's story is already very nice and complete enough. In general Yakuza should really make more callbacks instead of just hugging yakuza 0 tight for its references as if there's no other game they could bring up. I like what they did in 0 itself - for newcomers they showed up a bunch of characters and events that invoke pretty much just surface level reactions, but for people already very familiar with the series they're nice acknowledgements (Teen Ryuji, baby Daigo and fortune teller stuff). They're not massive appearances that take the whole story, but they're a nice little nod. From technical standpoint it'd require getting rights from VAs for what's essentially a very tiny thing. oh, for anyone actually reading the comments - get a mod that brings back japanese exclusive tracks. Tatsuro Yamashita's music fits in this game so well that i get teary-eyed when i listen to the songs by themselves.

6 aka the original conclusion of the Kiryu saga. Here's hoping Gaiden does a better job being the definitive end of Kiryu's arc.

6s story is alot easier to swallow thanks to 8 being that celebration of kiryus life we needed before we were done with him. Now i can kinda just appreciate the unique stuff in 6.

On a lore standpoint, I find 6 to be passionating. I love the highly ambitious story and standalone antagonist fashion that was the Yomei Alliance

It stings so much that there were 2 baseball minigames, Mitsuo from the orphanage became a baseball athlete, and still no mention of Shinada. Also, no mention of Haruto in the video. He was one of the best characters in 6 ngl. Maybe he'll at least be mentioned in Gaiden/LaD 8 instead of disappearing into the void.

*spoilers* I still find it crazy that this was supposed to be the end of the Kiryu saga and previous allies such as Majima, Akiyama and Saejima did not show up at the final battle against Iwami.

I replayed this game a couple of months ago and I had more fun playing than I thought I would and I actually liked the gameplay more than Kiwami 2 because it felt a bit smoother to me.

Extreme Heat Mode is legit the only reason why K2 is my top3 game, double finishers where you have to mash buttons go wayyyy too hard, it sort of reminds me of Krushing Blows in MK11 which I also find satisfying (yes I know 6 and K2 came out before MK11)

This game is awesome. I loved every bit of it. And yes, i wanted more characters from previous games to be in the game, but the new cast is a 10/10 for me. The hirose family and Someya are sick

It's funny how you say Y6 should have been more a celebration of Kiryu's life and just 3 months later you got Yakuza Gaiden which is exactly that.

I frickin love Yakuza 6, it was on sale for $5 and got me into this awesome series, so it can absolutely be a good starting point if you’re itching to try out the series

It's always wild to see how much of these videos are dedicated to nitty-gritty combat details. Not a complaint, mind you, but this is maybe my favorite game series and I just couldn't give a shit about the combat. It's near the bottom of the list of things I come to these games for. Easy or hard, good or bad, I just find myself button mashing to get back to the interesting stuff.

Yakuza 6 long battles are very unique tho and plenty. All has unique music and LONG Fights

YK6 imo has the best OST - especially the themes of Someya, Hirose, and Joon-gi

I loved the mechanics they introduced in 6 but only in kiwami 2 for some reason. A lot of gameplay stuff in 6 just feels off while kiwami 2 feels more natural, like they knew what they were doing with 6. I love the dragon engine, but not how 6 handled it.

I have a big soft spot for this game. This was the first Yakuza game I beat. This was the game that got me hooked on the Yakuza series. I did play Yakuza 0, but never beat it. I just stopped playing it when it switched to Majima, and just traded it back to GameStop.(idk why I did this, it was a dumb decision) Fast forward a year or two, and I'm browsing in GameStop again just looking for whatever, and I see this game on the shelf, and I'm like "oh Yakuza, that game was kinda fun, I think I'll play this new one" and my god, am I glad I stuck with it Such a good game, with such great characters, great music, great content, just such a fucking great time. Made me feel like a kid again. This game will always have a special place in my heart ngl. I'm finally going back to Yakuza 0, and working my way through it, and Lost Judgment, and those two are phenomenal as well. I legitimately don't know wtf I was thinking when I just stopped playing Yakuza 0.

While Y6 is not my favorite entry, I actually still really like it despite some of the controversial changes. Yes there are definitely some aspects that are questionable in the story and combat department, but it is a pretty important game to this series. This was pretty much the end of the classic era of Yakuza after 6. Plus, for the most part, it was a good way to conclude Kiryu's saga.

Nice video! Happy to see you talk about Yakuza 6. I was really disappointed with the combat system when I played it for the first time and it made me dislike the game for some time, since combat is the most important thing for me in the Yakuza series. I used to hate how weak Kiryu felt compared to other games and how most of cool stuff was locked behind that extreme heat mode, and because of weird design choices the game was just really easy. But on the other hand, I love the QoL stuff that game introduced, I love Kiryu's look and I think 6 has some of the best OST in the series. Plus Onomichi looks beautiful!

Despite Yakuza 6 being really flawed, especially due to it being the first in the dragon engine, I think I will always appreciate how unique the game really is in the series even now.

Even though people may not like it, I'm glad that they're making Kiryu a main character again only because I didn't think this was a proper send off for his character. I don't want him to be a main character forever, but I'm hoping that maybe 8 can give him a better ending and then he can finally retire for real.

Great description of combat. RGG is either being lazy or not taking the combat to full potential. They removed leg holds such an awesome yakuza mechanic but just tossed aside. Slams removed and only spinning finishing holds which are useless on bosses as they take no damage.

This extreme heat combo is the same in LaD 8..i think The old cancer Kiryu just breaks the turn base system and starts to "one two one two" everyone

Kiruyu being a grandad And The father of haruto being a small Time Yakuza/Big Time IS what i Do like..

It feels like Yakuza 6 overshot with how many enemies to put on screen so to compensate they added Extreme Heat Mode so Kiryu had some AOE and armour. Fighting 10+ enemies who can all stagger you AND you don't have Beast's hyper armour? Yeah they needed a quick fix because the combat in this game is just pain if you aren't in heat mode

I love 6’s physics and dragon engine physics in general. I fucking loving kicking a guy to Saturn or when a boss flies off screen immediately when the victory slowed time thing ends .2 seconds before the cutscene.

My favourite thing about 6 is the fact that the demo originally included the entire game. I believed the entire game is still there in the demo, You just can't access the rest of it anymore.

On PS4, you can in fact save anywhere in Kiwami 1. I think it's universal.

If I had to guess why there's no recap for Yakuza 0 in Yakuza 6 despite it being the previous game, I'd say it was because Yakuza 0 was the previous game and it actually sold well in the West. At that moment in time, if you wanted to play another Yakuza game then you had to get a PS3. For PS4 players there was only 0 and 6.

Yakuza 6, I feel, is kinda in a weird position with most people. I personally enjoyed it, and I'll admit the combat is a bit weird at the start but as I played it started to click to me and I actually kinda like it a lot. Evasion strike in this game is also just pretty fun. I think what they were going for is because of all the enemies, Kiryu's new moveset is based on crowd control which is why he has a lot of sweeping attacks and his throws are the way they are. Also maybe it was just me but I found it easier to do combos on the bosses in this game (and K2) then in other games. The story, I do like and think it's good but I do admit I wish there were more legacy characters; I do like a lot of the new characters though. Also this game was actually the first time I've ever cried at a video game. Other games would have me feel like I'm about to cry but with 6, seeing Kiryu walk away from everything he loves just made me sad and broke me.

Yakuza developers try to include already established characters into the plot instead of making it just Kiryu with an entire new cast of strangers level = IMPOSSIBLE (99% FAILURE RATE)

I'm going to be honest i really liked 6 story and didn't care about not enough fan service like for example in gaiden i'm more excited for the new charcters like the watase boys and not morinaga rather than seeing majima and saejima again

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, but to me Yakuza 6 actually looks worse than previous games because of how terrible the aliasing and anti aliasing options. I don't remember the specifics but its something like that the lighting is rendered at a quarter resolution or something that causes everything to be so jagged. Basically means you have to set your resolution to 8k or something crazy to get the resolution rendered at a decent resolution. It wasn't til lad that they added TAA which mostly fixed it. I just find the aliasing so distracting that it takes away from the other graphical improvements.
