Yeah this was an item where I just "rolled the dice" as it just looked good and it had the "Snowman" moniker on it which looking at other adverts there are a lot of people trying to cash in on the Snowman's popularity. As it came straight to you I have no idea of what the text on the box says and judging by the cosmetic damage it looks like its done the rounds. The company (pronounced shooey-u-fung-shen - my chinese is VERY rusty) I think means to "study and share ideas" but Im hoping someone will correct me lol. Overall I think it was a worthwhile punt and like you said there may be a few usecases out there that would take advantage of this. Thanks for taking the time to do the review Mike and Kath :-) Looking forward to the next chunk of metal I can send for review lol.

Bob as always we are both so grateful for you enabling us to check out these things, this one was an odd one and from what i can tell from the sales figures these sale nice crazy, and the actual cooling performance is really good, but some odd design decisions make it unsuitable for some, but for those with the right setup, an absolute corker!

Got the single mid fan version of this... at the moment 50% allocated to refurbing my old P4 640 (well actually the second one I was given by a friend - someone else replaced the Medion Air XL ducted cooler with a standard Intel (not an improvement) later found it was the GPU overheating. Also, the most powerful Snowman is the 120mm M-T6 dual fan - a 6 pipe version of the 120mm single stack

Thanks for your coverage of the Snowman product line! There's a healthy amount of videos now, and it has become possible to seriously recommend them to those who would benefit from them the most. They're a real "stand-out" in the market, and I hope they place some much-needed pressure on the cooler market (aftermarket and stock), as they prove just how much can be achieved at a low price. In an "ideal" world, there could be some kind of "mega" video, with all 4 of the "tower" designs (T4 120mm, T6 120mm, MX2 90mm single-tower, and MX6 90mm dual-tower), each in their single/dual(/triple) fan arrangements, but it's clear how demanding that would be, especially to also include some extra "familiar brand" models to ground the comparison. Snowman *also* make some low-profile "top down" coolers - the M100, the M103 (Intel only?), and the M400, all between £8 and £12 - that might be a more meaningful "direct" comparison to stock coolers like the Wraith Stealth and Wraith Spire. I haven't seen any videos on those specifically, only ones on "similar" coolers that were actually from different brands, and had different designs when paying close attention. Unfortunately, they all include non-configurable RGB (no "without LEDs" option), which might be why they've garnered less interest. As for their "tower" form factor coolers, there is unfortunately a "gap" in video coverage: the MX2 (90mm, single-tower), in particular the 4-pin PWM fan variant. There are some videos in Spanish on the older 3-pin variant, but they're not a great comparison, and can't be understood by a lot of people. At the very least, these single-tower models look as if they would avoid most of the RAM clearance issues of the MX6. Clearly, all else equal, everyone would "prefer" to use a T4 or T6 for their larger 120mm fans, but the approx 155mm cooler clearance can prevent them from being viable in smaller cases (like my own). The 90mm fans on the MX2 and MX6 are a bit weedy, but with a cooler clearance of only 130mm they might be the only models that many people can actually use. Anyway, that's enough rambling. thanks for the sub. like i mentioned in saturadys live stream, i am slightly against benchmarks as they are only valid for the exact same system in the environment tested in. most motherboards even if the exact same model will behave different with the same components, but i guess it does help to select a cooler or component, i just feel that it will be difficult to get an exact rating for devices.

This unit 92mm fan appears to be sold as the Snowman model MX6. The 120mm fan version is sold as the model MT6. There are also sellers that don't specify the model. Also some Snowman clones out there.

I use a 3-fan version of this in my daily rig with an i7-5775C and a Titan X Maxwell. I used the adapter ring and oriented the cooler by 90 degrees so it pulls air from the top of the case and pushes it down to the graphics card. By doing that I got enough clearance to use two ram sticks in an A2 B2 configuration. It performs well reliably since two years but the included Y-splitter cable was broken, so only two out of three fans were running until I got a replacement cable. Also the fan speed seems fixed, I never figured out how to get any fan control working.

I just had one of these delivered to the US and the protective inner packaging was the best I've ever seen. Even the retail box was in near perfect condition. The only way I can see damage like that happening is if it wasn't bought from Snowman Official Store or the person that had it before you caused it directly through use or inadequately packaging for the trip to you. ... That being said, I have only ordered one so I could be completely wrong as well. Going to be part of a "cheap an cheerful build" =ASRock b460m Steel Legend ($111 US), i5-10400 (149 US), and new pre-pandemic, pre-crypto boom EVGA 1660 super ($245 US) I've been sitting on instead of selling because I hate scalpers. Anyway, I really liked your vid, informative and to the point so you got a new sub here. Thanks!

Allright! finally watched it with clearer eyes and a coffee, at 7am. I've been lucky with both Snowman cooler I got. The box was beaten much more than yours, but everything was perfect inside. But I agree with you, better to get the 4 pipes 120mm Snowman. Or maybe an UpHere?😁

@@mikesunboxing The problem with the Veetro V5 is that at Amazon CA, there is 25$ shipping fee on top of a 37$ for the price. Which make it the same price that the Noctua nh-u12s redux....So it's either Hyper212 when it is discounted or the uphere if I have to get one fast for a build.

I have this 92mm cooler on my ryzen 2600 running at 4ghz, when running cinebench r23 for the 10 minutes using Core Temp to monitor the it got a max temp of 74°c with a min temp of 25°c. It is a little noisy but when I am playing games I use my Bluetooth ear plugs so it doesn't worry me. I would proffer the the 120mm it would be quieter and probably a bit cooler, but the 92mm is not bad for the price, but spending than bit extra I think would have been better.

High idle fan speeds cos they arent proper pwm. I bet. Thats a nice little heat sink , I bet it works better in push push (fans not in middle) maybe i buy one and a coupla arctic f9 pwm's statc pressure fans and try it.

I use this cooler with noctua nf-A9 (max 2000rpm) to cool overclocked 5800x 4.6all cores 5.00 boost. Works great 👍

I'm always looking for a shorter 130mm solution without having to go to the ultra low profile coolers that leave a lot on the table. I don't think it was way loud at 100%, hard to tell from the audio but I can imagine it's like a wraith stealth at 100%?

Before this cheap and low quality cooler gets delivered from Aliexpress I could afford something better.... I'd say don't cheap out on a cooler if you guys want to be satisfied. If you're on a really tight budget just get the Bequeiet pure rock slim, also pure rock slim 2 is coming out soon, and the first version is great at cooling 6c/12t cpu's.

This is not an official real snowman product. Just another Chinese seller jumping on the name bandwagon with any old product. The proper snowman coolers don't have a box like that they tend to use the same design across the board so compare it to the other product you have completely different box design. snowman have an official store on aliexpress I looked in their couldn't find this product but one like it M-X6 so I contacted them they replied with this is not one of their products packaging is wrong, different fans, on this model they offer snowman is on heatsink (they included picture of this also stated look at pictures from users which backup packing and snowman on cooler also different fans)

I'd just get an Hyper Evo 212 by Cooler Master for the 3600 cpu. It's a trusty cooler imo. Using it on my wife's system. Thanks for the look at this Snowman cooler Mike!

I bought it two months ago with 3 fans, but when I break the speed, the temperature rises after hours of playing to 96 degrees until it turns off, but I doubt about the hy510 Chinese thermal paste, is it from the cooler or from the processor or both?

better paste might help, and make sure the cooler is mounted centrally and the plastic film is removed

Shu-yue-fung-shun - sort of like that. My wife is Chinese and she's taught me a bit. Can't read the characters but I can pronounce the pinyin (the English version with accents etc). The "e" in Feng-shen is supposed to be pronounced abruptly - so fung-shun. X is pronounced a "sh" - you kinda have to curl your tongue a bit. FYI... if you ever get names with "Zh" - its pronounced like a "jh" - so Zheng is pronounced "jhung". and names beginning with "Q" are pronounced like a "ch" so "Qing" is pronounced like "ching".

The stock cooler for a 3600 isnt too bad, it does the job and isnt too loud. No overhead for overclocking though. When I got mine I found the noise a little too loud so upgraded to a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black.

The stock cooler is fairly good, but if you want better overall cooling an aftermarket cooler is preferred. I like the Hyper 212 or the Pure Rock 2, good value and performance.

@@z8318 If you can wait a little while then get the original Snowman cooler from Aliexpress (Mike has a video on this cooler, check it out) or if you need it sooner and dont mind paying a little extra get the Hyper 212 or Pure Rock 2, you wont be disappointed :-)
