I'm a Cat guy, but absolutely nothing sounds as good as a Yamaha, especially the triple triple. My buddy still has his 99 SRX, even their 4 strokes sound the best. IMHO. Thanks for another great episode Jeff.

Thank you so much for what you said at the end I have seen trails shut down for people going off trail, loud exhausts and just new landowners that wouldn’t allow access anymore. We have to respect landowners or our sport will die!

Hey Jeff, thanks for doing a feature on the Rx-1 > Apex machines. I'm not sure if it was in response to my request last season( prob not ha) but in any case it was entertaining as per usual! Love your show 👍🏼❄️❄️❄️

Love this one. I bought a RX1 3years ago and with 18500km on it it still amazes me when I punch it. I will hand this down to my son next year and move to a apex with power steering. Trails here in georgina just opened this week. Heading to mid February so spending over $20,000.00 for a sled will never happen.

Ah the old RX-ton almost forgot about that sled they were great in their day but I’m glad the rider forward thing caught on cause my back is shot 😂

Just wanted to add that Yamaha didn’t bring 4 strokes into snowmobiling. It was arctic cat with the 660 then the T660. The t660 was a great performance sled to. Great show Thanks Josh G

Absolutely agree Josh! The t660’s were great sleds and I put a few thousand kilometres on them when they were in production. But I wouldn’t put them in the same performance class as the RX1.

2023 VR1 850 with 600km overheated and white smoke coming out of exhaust. Most likely the head gasket. All others in my group had temperatures at 50 C. Not a happy Polaris customer now. Sled at Edge Performance to see what happened.

Question for you Jeff. Do you think the triple 2 stroke will ever make a return? I realize that light weight is the mandate with all manufactures now but man, as a Cat guy, would it be cool for Cat to shoe horn a light weight triple in the new Catalyst. I know off topic, but just asking. Keep the excellent content coming.

I don’t think triple 2-strokes will ever come back. Too heavy and too expensive. I see a bunch of people putting triples in late model sleds as projects which is super cool! A DYI project is the only way it’ll happen.

Why no mention of the Arctic Cat 1100 turbo? At 177 hp it was definitely a hyper sled at the time

Those sleds were pretty spiffy, but still not sure sure if they’re in the hyper sled class… unless tuned lol.

Jeff if the VR1 Boost isn’t a Hyper Sled then what is it? Gonna have to respectfully disagree with you on that one

I think its close… the line as to what defines a hyper sled is getting fuzzy, but I had to draw one in somewhere. When Polaris lowers it down, changes the attack angel of the track, shaves the lug height, and calls the sled the “Storm” (or maybe “Wind Storm”) and gains 10mph on the top end I’ll call it a hyper sled. It would be great if Polaris did that wouldn’t it???

I'm curious as to why when ever classic Yamaha hyper sleds are brought up you never mention the the king of them all the VMAX4 i know it wasn't the best sled but there is no denying how fast that machine was my buddy just bought one for 800 bucks and just spanked my ass going down the lake on my apex, machine does have its factory flaws but if pure seed and insanity is what you are after it has it in spades!!!!

Part of the problem is we don’t have any covering footage of a VM4, part of it I hated those sleds lol. Noisy, rough, heavy, bad handling, slow (unless tuned up). Those may be fighting words… lol
