There are a few snowshoe basics that you need to know before your first time snowshoeing.
SNOWSHOEING GEAR | WINTER HIKING GEAR | SNOWSHOEING CHECKLIST:
1. BASE LAYER: Make sure you have moisture-wicking base layers. A lot of people overlook this simple tip for snowshoeing. Having a moisture-wicking base layer will keep you drier, and warmer for your beginner snowshoe gear.
2. SOCKS: In my opinion, one of the most essential pieces of gear for snowshoeing is actually your socks. Think about it, you're walking through the snow. So, the area that is going to be most prone to getting cold is your feet. The best way to combat that is with quality, wool socks. Don't skimp on your socks, this is one tip I have for snowshoe tips and techniques.

3. LAYER UP: I've found one of the best ways to stay warm while doing winter hiking or winter snowshoeing is by wearing winter gear that is fleece lined. That's why I showed my fleece-lined hoodie and fleece-lined sweatshirt in this snowshoeing basics video. Having the proper winter gear is important, that fleece lining makes such a huge difference to stay warm when doing winter activities.
4. OUTER PANTS: If you watched my video, you know that I ordered myself a new pair of pants for snowshoeing. The pants my friends wore were moisture-wicking and fast drying. They were the perfect piece of gear for snowshoeing, and a piece of gear that I think is going to be part of my winter gear essentials moving forward. My friends that were wearing these Kuhl pants were guys, but these are great for winter hiking gear women as well.

5. COAT: If possible, get a coat that has armpit vents. The armpit vents are amazing and really made such a difference for me when I was choosing my winter hiking gear.
6. GLOVES: My gloves are my favorite because they have wrist straps. They are also mittens, so they keep my hands really warm.

7. GLOVE LINERS: These glove liners are my new favorite piece of winter gear, they were so perfect for snowshoeing because they have electronic touch fingers, so I can take photos and videos without my hands being completely exposed.

8. BEANIE / HAT: You need a hat to keep your head warm while snowshoeing 101 for beginners.
9. SUNGLASSES: Don't be like me and forget your sunglasses. This is a huge must-have for snowshoeing for your first time.
