I took advantage of the demo ride tour yesterday. The axys is nothing short of amazing. Yes you sit high, but you use your body to keep this thing planted. I was taking tight corners on the trail at 50+mph with minimal ski lift, and I'm a light guy. The new 800 is very crisp and powerful. Sitting on it in a showroom does this thing absolutely no justice, hit the snow with it and see!

Extreme brand loyalty is silly blind ignorance; like the sled or not, developments on sleds like these are what keeps ALL manufacturers on the cutting edge.

Cool video but could you be more critical? I'm sure the new sled is as excellent as you say but this seems like an Ad more than a first ride review!

This video shows it handles pretty well. The sledhead video was showing inside ski lift. I'm guessing these guys spent somet time setting it up to handle. The riding position looks high on these. Not a very modern look in my opinion and they look short, kind of bunched up. Do they even offer a 136"?

A buddy of mine took delivery of his Switchback 600 a while ago. Apparently, just the 600 is a beast.
@kylefitzgerald44199 жыл бұрын
Donovan Bulmer It is. That new 600 has like 148+ hp and the 800 have 155 or 160 so pretty good for a 600. And those 600`s are pretty well bulletproof.

Kyle Fitzgerald I heard they matched the liberty in Reliability. I think the engine's called the CleanFire? My F5 EFI is wicked quick for a 500 and i can't stay with him.

Donovan Bulmer Well different machines right. Is his a switchback assault? And yes the polaris calls their motors cleanfires.

Nice job on the removable panels! Definitely do not want to use any tools at 20 below to get them off:)

Was 2016 the first year for switchback assault axys? I have A 2015 144” switchback assault which is a pro ride correct?

if that suspension is so great, why isnt it in their snocross sleds?
@davidrowley825110 жыл бұрын
Designed for consumers who ride on trail or off trail, rebuild their shocks every 1 or 2 or 3 years, and want good ride and good handling without having to stand up all the time. You don't see ninja bikes with Moto-X suspensions.

I just looked at it as: arctic cat is taking the new technology that makes them fast at the track, perfect it, and then a year or so later it comes on their production models. That's what advances the industry.

You can find all of the performance benefits developed for SnoX on the IQR. And people don't buy them for the trail for a reason, its suspension and chassis are too stiff for a whole day of riding. If you want a snoX sled, you buy an IQR. If you want a the fastest sled that can handle rough off-trail conditions and ride like a Cadillac you buy a Pro X. Its no different than any manufacturer except that Polaris has a separate model dedicated to SnoX rather than adapting the latest model for SnoX.

Still 2 Stroke JUNK! Actually those look like nice handling machines though! Wonder what the GAS MILEAGE is on those! I rode a SKI DOO 600 ACE with 4 STROKE, got 27MPG which is EXCELLENT for me! Although the 2 STROKES leave me in the dust(SNOW)! Mileage and handling on the SKI DOO was plenty enough!

Etecs get better mileage then most 4 strokes.

My machine is a '15 Ski-doo Renegade with the 800R Etec engine. My brother has the '15 Polaris 800 Axys 137". When we ride together, he is ALWAYS putting more gas in his tank vs what I do when we stop to re-fuel. Both machines rail around corners and handle bumps very well. The Polaris 800 mill however, vibrates a bit more than my 800 Etec does. Both GREAT sleds.

sounds like problem after problem all new sleds have problems computer run motors suck problem after problem basic is soo much better less problems and same performance

Well not really I have a 11 polaris assault switchback 800 144x2 and it`s fuel injected and never had a problem. My old 02,polaris, and 03 ski doo`s with carbs had more performance problems then I had with fuel injected. Yeah carb gets better response but the injected ones can get pretty close and save on gas, smoother running, more hp and torque.
