Wait! I can analyze the story for everyone that is confused. Mama might not be talking about the Tattletail. The kid we are playing as in the game gets out of bed way past their bedtime and goes to the basement. The kid gives in to his weakness and opens his present early. What Mama means by "the children thought that Mama will never find them, as long as she couldn't see them" might be the player running around with the Tattletail and when Mama was coming close, the player still ran around not trying to be caught by Mama and trying to hide somehow. "The pitter patter of their little feet led Mama right to them" might mean that to make Mama go away is to be super quiet so Mama could not hear them. "Then Mama found the children. Every last one. And put them right back to bed." What Mama might mean is that Mama found the player because the player was making too much noise and what she means by putting them back to bed might be Mama killing the player. Mama might be telling the player what NOT to do when Mama is looking for them as a story. This is my analysis on Mama's story. But hey, that's just a theory. A Game Theory! Thanks for Reading!

I'm not a huge fan of Tattletail, and the things that come out of it are usually creepy egg shaped things with ears and faces that I would prefer to stay away from, but dang this is really well made. It's creepy without being edgy, and the drawing and animation is really good. I like the way you made everything look.

Considering the way she said the story, I think she was referring to actual human children who tried to hide from her and as the only way for her to leave you alone is to stay quiet with no movement at all when she's near and the music gets louder, she's referring to how the past kids didn't keep well quiet and she found them, then put them "straight to bed" (a term which is quite dark and obvious when you think about it). I could be wrong, but this is just a theory of mine based on listening to her creepy sounding story book tape over and over again.

Mama was sad for this , but she dont wants to live in a garbage forever . Therefore mama changed into a scary tattletail and she he gave it back what people did to him back . After one month ago , new tattletails come to life . Mama owned these tattletails and she promised she will take a good care of these tattletails . Once time someone got these tattletails and mama too . But mama was angry for this . She was not believe of this kid and she executed him or the tattletails one day makes a ritual of mama to stop being scary . Tattletails : " No more mama ! " And mama is destroyed. Like my comment if you agree .

I thought at first that mama's voice actor was a male, until I heard that Geneva Hodgson was mama's voice actor, and that her voice was pitched down to make it more distorted and menacing. But, if you listen when mama in the game's voice gets higher (this happens occasionally with the tattletails as well) it sounds more human-like.
