100% agree! he could cut cake on the shaper and I'd watch. (in fact he should)

The only issue I have with the shaper is that Abom *loves* to try and hand-hold the camera, and he's not exactly a professional steady-cam operator. It's like watching the blair-machinist... I usually end up hiding the window and just listening to him until the shaper parts done.

Exactly. I don't get why people whine when he chooses to use the shaper. It's his shop, his customer, and his tools. Unless he's putting out substandard work (which we all know he would never do), nobody should be griping about what he chooses to use.

It's also super hypnotic to watch.

My grandfather was a machinist and watching guys like Adam, Keith Fenner and Tom Lipton at oxtool bring back some memories of him.

I have no tools and maybe never will... but looking these works it is satisfying.

The way those last two machined on the shaper, looks like the fixed the hard-spot issue. May have been able to shaper all the faces.

Filing the base-angle edge, is the flat perpendicular to the base, or normal to the angle axis?

The set up for these parts is pretty basic, so I newbies who don't know how it works would be best served by a tutorial. He did cover the (at least for me) unusual parts, namely the sand paper and why he choose to use the shaper. Also, a lot of the important bits of the set up aren't really visible in sped up (or even normal speed) footage. Namely making sure your vice and other parts of the work holding are square (lots of people just leave a square vice on their machine until they need to take it off), choosing the right cutting tools and parameters and making sure there are no chips between work holding and work piece. I would get bored pretty quickly if I'd hear the same steps explained in every video. On the other hand, I appreciate it when I get to see custom setups because sometimes I see really creative solutions I'd never think of myself.

Yes you are correct

The clapper is angled to swing the cutter away as well as forward on the backstroke. The table itself on the shaper isn't moving for these cuts at all, only the tilted "vertical" feed on the head is moving between strokes

@@ikbendusan He does make some money from YT vids but I'm pretty sure he spends a fair bit of time in that fully equipped machine workshop doing paid jobs, it wouldn't make sense to go self employed and just put out a couple of short videos per week, he must be doing jobs for paying clients.

@@ianc4901 you tube , patreon and a wife that makes good money. I don't think he's doing a lot of paid job shop work, but I could be wrong. He's definitely doing some. He does have 450k+ subscribers you know. Purely guessing he's making $1000+ per weeks worth of videos.

@@wrangler5729 When Adam worked for Motion Industries he was their top machinist and helped them fulfill some huge contracts which earned the company hundreds of thousands (maybe even millions) of dollars, he loved that work and would not give it up unless he was certain he could earn the same salary they gave him or better on his own. Part of the agreement he made with them was not to poach Motion Industries clients which he was happy to agree to because he had other plans. A man with a with the skills and reputation of ABomb is going to be in high demand in machining and he would never sit around while is fully equipped workshop sits idle and only produce one or two short videos per week. The amount of money he has invested over the past few years was substantial and he will be doing as much as possible to make that workshop pay for itself, I have no doubt that he is not relying solely on YT income and T shirt sales ! As far as 'unrealistic videos', he only shows the simple projects which he can upload in short videos to show viewers set up tips and different techniques. I am sure there is a lot going on behind the camera that we will never see for multiple reasons but Adam works up to 7 days every week in his workshop, you can be certain of that !
