Long time viewer.. fist watched when I had no plan to be a machinist. Like over 7 years. I was working in grocery stores. Now I am a machinist and support a family. You and others played are big part in my success. So my question comes from the heart. What is this channels goal? It’s purpose? Where acre you headed? It’s all of our dream to have a nice shop full of machines and tools. You’ve achieved that and it is great. What does this mean for your channel? Could you make a video telling us what’s in store? Other than seeing cool items I personally don’t gravitate to your channel to learn something and for entertainment. I see it as like the old speed tv show Trucks. Just showing off sponsors. A tv show. Are you going to hire guys to make parts for the community? Or customers. Or are you comfortable right here. One-man shoppin’ it with all those new toys. From the heart. Ken

Awesome seeing our T-Slot Covers being added to the shop! As someone who has been watching your channel since the early days, it really has come full circle. The new shop is a bright workspace with the capability to do most anything, and on your terms. I think the dream of most Machinists is to have the freedom to choose the projects we work on. I was so excited when you announced a new shop and started moving machines in. It took a while but i figured it was just the covid delays in getting tooling and everything. I would have loved to see new content in a much larger shop with new toys to play with (sincere). But its been so long and you have tons and tons of tooling coming in but hardly any jobs. I love a new machine day unboxing video as much as the next guy, and yeah drilling holes in plate steel is sometimes what you gotta do, but i have to find myself starting to agree with peoole that a lot of these videos are just about marketing tools. Thats fine if that brings in the money but do it in addition to the main content that people love you for in the first place. I love you adam and i love your channel. I still do, and i dont want to make fun of it like some do, but i do sometimes wonder where all those jobs went. I mean even with no one asking for work done you said yourself you have a lot of projects to refurb that pacemaker. Where is all that? Youre still my favorite machinist and i dont even mind some product placement and cnc work thrown in, but i miss the videos that were like 45 minutes long and just about cutting something in half with a shaper. That yard sale music was a psychological cue for peace. I havent seen that in a while. Occasionally one or two jobs but thats it

Hello Adam, I am not a machinist, but I truly enjoy your videos. I have learned a lot about attention to setup. You work to a thou with no effort and if you need half a thou, you achieve it. Truly a master at your work. I build ship models as a hobby and continually find it difficult to center drills. The drills are usually quite small so the tip of using a center when possible does the trick. Thanks for the tip. Looking forward to your next video.

Nice video. If I had a high end workshop and money to burn I would definitely invest into a good vise. Not necessarily this. It seems nicer than strong.

Cool! What a coincidence that you have bougth this vise. I'm trying to do a similar one, inspired by Orange design. Got the first one working, but scrapped it due to lots of errors. Currently I'm in a process of making another one. Engineering and design in this vise is really impressing.

Thanks Adam, I like to see new tools. I like the feature of the rear jaw coming past the bench, sort of like an old blacksmith leg vise.

Nice vise. I'd see about keeping a small level and set screw to plug the hole that hte 5/8 retianer bolt goes in. I can see swarf and chips getting into those threads and scratching the center. I agree on the toolbox, mine has the dual slids on the top and bottom drawers and pulls very smooth. Also, it's painted on the inside. I keep a small cheap shop vac mounted on the side of my mill and lathe for easy chip cleanup, at $30 it beats pulling splinters out of your hands.

Adam, you could easily move the vice body all the way out and spin it, so that entire vice is over the table. This would be a great way to park it, so that the handle and all is not hanging in the walkway.

Adam should design and build his own bench vise. This thing looks pretty but it seems like it's a lightweight vise.

I'm a long time subscriber. I used to devour your content in the old days, because it was authentic. The machines you had back then actually had a purpose - to get jobs done. You were humble, hard working and down-to-earth. Nowadays it's all about selling and promoting stuff. From the lubricants, debur kit, drills, mills, machines, micrometers, each and every tool you show only serves promotional purpose. No more parts machining, no more interesting projects, no more viewer mail, no more connection with the actual people who got you here, the subscribers. That's sad, it really is...

Years ago using my first cordless drill in a tight space I had to reach into with minimal light and vision I was drilling into sheet metal and I had the drill backwards for a minute or so not realizing what the problem was. One of those moments even though nobody is around you still feel like a fool lol.

Way overkill on the cost of that vice always remember a vice is just vice.

You know what would be neat for these "drill and tap a plate" operations? A magbase flex arm.

That Orange Vice is a Machinists vice not a Mechanics vice. Big difference, one you pound the crap out of stuff in and the other you make beautiful precision parts in.

I like that vise and the ways it can be set up and used. It appears to be made mostly of hard anodized aluminum so it’s probably intended for light duty work.

The drill bits sets shown include a lot of drills and are also available in metric. Cost is ok if you can get them exported from USA.

That is by far the most beautiful vise I've ever seen Adam..... I'd be afraid to use it. Might get it dirty!

This channel is disappointing anymore. Hardly ever see a chip fly since he got the showroom.

I think adding a couple level bubbles and degree marks are in order to make it perfect. Great vise for a lot of jobs, but it isn't a knock around vise for sure.

I miss the spray welding and lathe work.

You know when you have a passionate machinist when they comment on how attractive a drilled, tapped hole is! Think we can argue the slop on the mag drill isn’t that bad for its age! My father had the same model B&D drilled, it could power through anything with inch and a half drill! Thanks again for you vids.

Would be nice if 'Orange Vice Company' sent a Carboard (or other material) Template along with the vice to use as a hole guide to drill mounting holes instead of having to strip down the vice?! Looks good quality though, thanks for sharing.

Hell of a vise but for $1500 I can buy a good bench vise, a mill vise, and a restaurant dinner for the extended family. Sometimes cool is plain extravagent.

The hard sharp edges on that vice suggest it was designed for ease and speed of manufacturing, not for looks. Bring back castings...

This used to be a channel that did some really cool machining it has now progressed to pushing sponsored products.

This channel has changed, I used to love the machining videos. I don't think that vice is well designed with a centre pivot and grub screws. Is it made from iron because the finishes look like anodised aluminium and it costs £1500.

You should do a restore on the mag base drill. That would be cool to watch and leave you with a piece of equipment that you know will last for the remainder of your lifetime.

That vise is a motorcycle suspension tuners wet dream! Enjoy that beauty Adam! I may have to have one in my shop myself.

Cool solution for people that work with a fairly fixed position vise on the mill. Easy to maintain.

Can’t agree with the Cleveland recommendation more. I’ve had excellent luck with their drill bits. I had a CNC job where I had an open end contract for square foot pads with 1/2 holes in each corner. The Morse brand drill bits were getting me roughly 180 holes per drill, while the Cleveland brand got me roughly 760 holes per drill. For only $2 more each drill, it was well worth it. Eventually I did switch to carbide drills, but while I was using hss/cobalt, I got good life out of the Cleveland.

That vise is absolutely stunning! I just love products that are so well thought out.

The Orange vise is pretty nice - although like you said, it is not meant for heavy duty usage. I looked up the price and while it's a bit pricy for a medium duty vise, for someone who is more detail oriented and normally does smaller type work, it will give lots & lots of variable positioning. Looks to be extremely well made and finely finished - almost a sin to get it scratched or dented - lol!! That said, for more crude work, there is nothing like a vintage Parker or similar heavy duty cast iron vise. They are getting a bit more difficult to find in great shape and when you do they are ridiculously priced. All the more reason for those who are not doing heavy duty work to look at the Orange!

I wonder how much enginerding goes into those newfangled vices, and how much is just a desire to look different. Of course the problem for these manufacturers is that a good vice lasts 100 years or more. A few years ago I bought an old 27 kg Boley vice for 30 Euros, and it’s an absolute dream. Why would I even consider buying a new one?

23:52 What’s going on here? I’m no expert, but I would say that’s a bit of a fuckload of slop for a $1500 vice. You know, speaking in terms of value for money. Not that it really matters. Except it kind of does, in that price bracket.

Am I the only one that wonders where the work went instead of just getting massive amounts of stuff that average people can’t afford what made this channel is a regular guy doing work with regular old school machines giving people that might be able to obtain a machine like those hope to learn it and be inspired not unboxing videos

Before you lock down the split clamp you should throw the Stare-At-Eet level up on the top of the jaw to make sure it's level.

Love the way that drill cuts through that plate, like a knife through butter.

I have pretty much accepted that Adam now just tries to fill in videos with tiny little bits of work around sponsors products. This is just not the same as the reason i started watching this channel.

I made two aluminum sheets, it worked better quickly to pull out a little so that the water can run down ..and yes very little chips in the t slot

That vice is one fancy, super hi-tech piece of kit. It looks so simple, like a Lego set, but so much function. Nice install on the steel top plate. That rounded edge is a thing of beauty.

That is a beautifully engineered and fabricated vise. For the price, it really should be. The versatility and ease of adapting the vise to different tasks is impressive. The only thing that bugs me about it after first impressions is the number of tool sizes you need to adjust everything. If I were inspecting it up close it would probably be apparent why they couldn't make it with fewer fastener sizes, bit at a glance it bugs me. I'd want to make a rack for the most used wrench or two right there by where it's mounted.

Not a single job in the shop? Those CNC machines should be running non stop to be paying for themselves. Drilling and tapping 4 holes is not good content

He has a mix of subjects on each video. But I know what you mean. Anyway.....that is one screaming cool vise! Better machining though innovative design.

The orange Cnc vices are great. I never would have considered something like this for a bench vise but then again I have been known to change u joints in my Kurt so no room to talk I guess. Lol
