The Remake has cut out stuff I enjoyed. Personally I recommend sticking to the original.

Fatigue, unique weapons, club choices, breaking social links, the soundtrack, Fes, no longer have the unique battle system with AI, more teleporters in tartarus, changed how romance works also, generally just made everything easier and made it impossible to fuck up social links. They essentially removed all the unique elements to make it into persona 5 with a better story. Which is cool if you think P5 gameplay is great, but if you liked the unique elements of p3 they are objectivally just gone. Sure operation babe hunt isn't important to the plot as a whole, but replacing the trans character with a conspiracy theorist takes away from the authenticity, the game is set in 2009 and not in the 2020s. Also they are supposed to be stupid boys hitting up girls on the beach and I don't think the "running away from a hot chick because she's a bit crazy" thing is that realistic while to original "running away from a girl because it's actually a guy" scene is a real thing.

Persona 5 takes a bit to get started that’s for sure. I think you may like the themes of 3 better but if you don’t like the combat in 5 you won’t really like it here and it’s just not for you.

There won’t be a royal version this time. They’ve clarified that since it was a common concern.

This is the complete version. The Answer will be DLC, of course, but it really isn't needed to get the story. Plus, it isn't all that great to begin with. Now, if they announced they've tweaked it some (idk why they wouldn't), then maybe its "worth" it. If you have time, just play it, you won't regret it.

Xbox game pass ultimate lets you stream it for a fraction of the price, so you can play now but buy whatever SEES edition they release later and not double dip.

I think some things that are cut are because of political correctness changing in the West. Like there was a Transgender character in the original that has some dialogue choices that would make some people "uncomfortable" (even though it says M for Mature, but I guess people can't read).

I always loved the story here more and it's only issue was gameplay which wasn't bad and I love how well they remade this making it my favorite now because it's p5 but p3 in terms of gameplay

There was also censorship. The default TAAU on PC is also fucking 540p, you need to force an engine.ini change to have it be full resolution. That is asinine. The difference is night and day, ps2 quality vs ps5

Still needs Portable content, and The Answer shouldn't be paid post-DLC when the game is already $70. Better than nothing though!

From what I remember of the OG it looks like there weren't any party members spoilers outside of the first hour, or social links from like the first 5. But I'd say after 10 hours you're safe

Honestly? Could have been worse. They could have butchered a lot more.

Remake was in the work for a long time. Portable was announced with Golden, and its just a cheap port to get those games off dead platform (well, P4G had it worse since at least you can easily emulate P3P). And even then with things like dual audio (Undub patch is easily the most prominent Persona ROM hack going back over a decade) they at least show that they know what the fans want.

A bunch of folks bought P3 thinking it was the only way to legally and accessably play. THEN a few months after people already bought P3 port they announced the remake. The remakes cool but the way they went about things was shady af. Feels like a switcheroo

That is not the problem, on Series S, Xbox One and PS4, they do not use raytracing, they instead use screen space reflections and make some mirrors opaque. They likely didn’t feel like the file size or cartridge size to pay for would’ve been worth it or that optimizing it for a less powerful console would be worth it.

Probably they had to do a lot of downgrades to be able to run on Switch taking into consideration that Soul Hackers 2 also skipped Switch.

If your laptop struggle on Genshin it probably wouldn't run P3R well either, if at all (considering that Genshin runs reasonably well on something like the mobile 1650, which is about as powerful as top of the line iGPU like in the ROG Ally and Legion Z1 Extreme). That's also why there's no Switch port either. P5R was made with their inhouse engine, with the original P5 being a decent experience on the original PS3, and the same engine being used to port Catherine Full Body to the PS Vita, so the Switch easily had enough power. P3R on Unreal, not so much.

@@MisterNyte P3P is in a weird spot, since Reload already in a sense does what it did for OG P3, namely the writing. FeMC route overhauled the social link writing more to P4 standard, keeping the standout SLink of OG P3 (Hierophant, Hanged Man, Sun comes to mind) while replacing the lower quality ones with male party member links to expand on their characters. P3R kept the original links of OG P3, but also added the dorm hangout events, which effectively does the same thing anyway (interaction outside of plot events), and make SEES feels more like a friend group living together rather than coworkers. Gameplay wise, Reload is an overhaul of both P3P and P3FES anyway. Soundtrack wise, its a matter of taste, but the P3P FeMC route OST sounds a lot less like OG P3 than the new P3R addition does. It was composed at the same time as P4, the P1 PSP remake and Devil Summoner 2 and it kinda shows. Danger Zone in particular (Master of Tatarus replacement) sounds like a P4 track.

Play the journey with Persona 3 Reload. Then play the FES The Answer version on PC with a widescreen fix and 4K 60.

According to Atlus no, however, I can’t say I trust them lol. A leaker known to often get Atlus leaks correct said that they are working on DLC for adding The Answer, the FES epilogue, but I can totally see them doing an updated version maybe after the next generation Nintendo console releases that includes the female MC route from P3P and release it for all three consoles

Oh yeah persona 3 reload looks amazing at 1440 and 4K. I maxed out everything and put it to 200 render scale and it looks way better than 5 by a mile

I strongly urge you to check out Persona 4 Golden as well. It's probably now the weakest in terms of the battle system, but I think the story/characters are way better than Persona 5, which I also enjoyed a lot.

Not any crazier than paying $70 for RE4 remake, Demon Souls remake, or Dead Space remake. This is as much of a new game as all of those and an insanely good game with a lot of work put into it.
