So about the IGN Review... A ton of media outlets recently were allowed to post their impressions on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. IGN was heavily criticized for some of the things they had mentioned, I wanted to go over their preview of the game and provide my thoughts.

My issue with IGN review and some of their reviews recently is that they are injecting their preferences into their review versus critiquing. What is actually there. Just because you don’t like some thing about something doesn’t mean it’s bad.

I thought a few of IGN’s comments were a bit silly… “We’re killing the beloved justice league!?” In a game called SS: Kill the justice league… I would assume that’s what we’d be doing “I got hit by NOTHING in this clip!!!” Maybe it was the bright red projectile in front of you? Hard to miss. “The flash is too fast” That’s kinda his thing… “The bus reminds me of fortnite” Thank god for fortnite otherwise buses wouldn’t exist. Also flying buses were a concept in media before fortnite you know.

Absolutely loved what I played. Harley quinn unfortunately is too slow in traversal, loadout menu is cluttered and those tutorials kept popping up telling you to jump and slide or some crap. Otherwise it's a blast.

I'm with you man. Every review and preview that I see from people about this game is everyone just uncomfortable killing heroes. I'm sorry but the entire game is literally called. Kill the Justice League and you're playing as villains. You're playing as a hard gun assassin who kills people, a psychopath, Captain boomerang and a shark.

@sugarytoast691 Gotham Knights deserved all of the negativity. The story had CW-level writing, the combat lacked depth and utilized damage sponges rather than actual challenge, and traversal felt like major downgrades compared to the Arkham games.

It's been a while since I read a comic with Captain Boomerang in it but he's usually associated with The Rogues, a group of villains that regularly fights the Flash and for a group of villains they do have a set of rules that they follow so that the Flash doesn't take them down before they can blink or steal their speed leaving them stuck unable to move.

The issue I have with people saying it's such a departure from the Batman Arkham games, is that it HAD to be. We had 3 games with Batman in the Arkham setting, and an origin setting. Another one would have caused people to just want something different. Now that we have it, people are complaining about how big of a departure it is. What more could you have done with Batman in Gotham, that wasn't a retread of previous versions? Batman vs the Suicide Squad? Just go play Arkham Origins. It was done better than any version of Bats v SS could have been.

The true negative of this game that has been covered by nearly everyone is the live service focus honestly I'm not trashing on this game but I think it's going to have a very rough launch and what that means is if this game continues to die off and lose it's playerbase it will be closed off like Marvels Avengers.

And this was probably a precursor to a Justice League/Trinity/World's Finest game or Superman game, they were definitely laying the groundwork for one of those four games, so if this flops then we can kiss goodbye to that continuation because they will most likely do a hard reset. I feel like they wanted to try a shooter in between for a break and then set up a Superman type Arkham game, but they've probably got cold feet now and are looking for a way to backtrack or usher in new ideas

@worlddd7777 gotta remember it's all WBs fault at the end of the day. The old workers at RS pitched a Damian Wayne batman beyond game and a superman game. WB rejected superman and gave Montreal it but it got canned and replaced with Gotham knights if I remember right

@worlddd7777 That's the thing, they're done with the Batman stories, they've got five Arkham games already. They've made four of those - Asylum, City, Knight and Nightwing VR then there's Origins which is canon and part of the Arkham verse. I genuinely believe Superman was up next or a World's Finest: Batman & Superman or Trinity game. Either way, it looks like Superman type game was next and this game was the interim and taster whilst they work out everything for Supes. To me it seems like they wanted a break from the combat before they delved into Superman, also his game would be a huge undertaking from a flying/movement point of view which is why they put so much emphasis on the squad movement. Also, Metropolis looks extremely detailed and several times the size of Gotham, and Superman design is top tier, so that would be a huge waste if the sell numbers make them abandon ship. I really hope they don't backtrack and push forward with Supes, but I get it 💀 if SS doesn't strike a cord with the audience then I can see why they might pull the plug, it can go either way to be honest

You guys missed the point and are brainwashed just because it has a DC and Rocksteady title to it. Don’t get me wrong, I was excited for it too but my excitement has gone down due to the gameplay. This IGN dude makes a lot of valid points. It’s all just a sit and defend area while enemies spawn out of nowhere and just shooting at purple blobs. Matter fact all the characters do that, they all just shoot and they don’t have unique fighting. Sure, they have different guns and maybe different abilities but I’m getting Gotham Knights vibes from this. And to me, Gotham Knights was just ok… it wasn’t anything great but it wasn’t bad either just ok. But I do wish the game does well after all the hard work and the unfortunate leaks but this is a game I’ll have to wait till it goes on sale to buy cause to me, this game looks ok but not worth $70

I think the whole very dark and bleak but comedic is the point, The Arkhamverse has from the start been just a low down depressing universe, and it makes sense that these villains are 1 very much lacking in morals, but 2 can make any situation into a joke. You could compare it to soldiers at war when shits down bad you hear the most hilarious shit but in an ideal comic universe soldiers and heroes don’t act that way so I say it’s a breath of fresh air, now the live service is a different story😅

See I’m finding this very funny. In an article that was aiming to get views following a lot of negativity this game has been getting, they’ve actually generated hype for it. People are happy The Flash fight is fast, because gamers love a challenge. People are happy it seems like we will kill some of the justice league, gamers like a challenge. And people are happy you’re not going to get the movement down in a couple of hours… because you guessed it, gamers want as much control in their hands as possible. Oh, and they also like a challenge. Did I say that before?

This best showcases that everyone wants to be the villain until it’s really time to be the villain everybody the small segment of being the joker in Arkham Asylum and being venom in Spider-Man but now when you play the villain throughout the whole game people are saying it’s to heinous to do those things (the only I don’t like is poison ivy head bomb and the ui) and we know how hard it can be going against the superheroes

I really enjoyed the closed alpha. Going to be playing 2 player coop with close friend since its pretty story focused it seems. Def not going to be the best game ever, but its going to be fun.

the entire point of IGN's review is that the flash didnt have a down state or any way to tell where he is or actually hit him. Accuracy doesnt equal a good gameplay choice, exact reason why most of the justice league wont work in their own game, i dont like IGN but thats a valid complaint

But, the footage literally shows his down state being when he's charging? So you can dump your damage onto him and get on the move quickly before he releases his lightning attack? Seems pretty straightforward to me

I do think there should something in the environment or something in the your arsenal that will make The Flash slowdown, because it's like how do you defeat the fastest man alive? But to be annoyed and say the Flash is being "too fast" is crazy.

I don’t think their should be a time reversal or a reboot. Going forward with the Arkhamverse in a world where superheroes now have a reason to be feared ,especially now that Bruce’s identity is widely known, would be very interesting and fun to see.

When villains behave like heroes people complain. When villains behave like villains people complain. At this point, the game has become some weird pile-on party for a dedicated community of moaners. When the game launches all the discourse around it will be geared towards baiting this community for clicks. Expect countless write ups/youtube videos proclaiming its the next RedFall, even if its just a good (not great) game.

7:28 He didn't say he was knocked down for no reason, he said he was knocked down for _unclear_ reasons. And he's right. There was no reaction/movement/etc. from the plant to indicate that he hit an environmental hazard.

I think the point IGN was trying to make with the whole rewinding time after all the events that transpired makes sense. I agree.. we either have no future games within this universe when it comes to our beloved "heroes" because they've done so much evil or we actually kill them off.. Or we have to rewind time so we come to a point where our heroes, well.. are the heros, the good guys again who haven't commited any crimes yet.

IGN is such a convenient scape goat to you all. Most outlets are having the same reaction to suicide squad and the flash sequence like they did,but I guess it's easier to just target Ign cause of their "history". Which I don't even know much about cause most of their game reviews are always on point. They even gave Starfield a 7/10 when it first released and everyone collectively bashed on them for it and said that their reviews are trash. Now the game is sitting at mostly negative on steam.

A normal suicide squad game wouldve been fun, arkham mechanics but just as the suicide squad characters and set missions etc that can last for hours, while also having free updates with new storylines and missions as DLC, i would much prefer that.

So a couple thoughts here: First, there will always be chuckleheads on the internet who will be triggered by anyone who doesnt share their opinion. Second, we are now in an age where people are trusting content creators over Journalists -- and again -- there is nothing wrong with that. But... blindly not citing with an opinion because it isnt yours its kinda dumb and lazy. Like this whole "I dont like She-Hulk and because IGN gave it an 8, so all 8s must be as bad as She-Hulk" kinda logic is lazy and shows people dont know how to think for themselves. Lets not kid ourselves and pretend theres not a bunch of content creators shitting on something because its "the thing to do" for engagement. what I took from this coverage is that -- it was delayed cause it was a live service game -- and it still is. I dont any of these changes are gonna ultimate impact the final product at all. Time will tell, I want to love it. I guess we will see.

"Decoupler charged - shoot flash". The fact that is written up the top makes me fairly confident that the players just didn't keep up with the pace of the fight and were punished for it, games don't randomly hit you with no counter play, if it feels that way its more likely you're just not doing what you're meant to. The more I see people's complaints the more confident I am this will be a good game.

I think comparing a live service model to a single player experience is a disingenuous argument, also what’s wrong with hero’s being evil or dying injustice exists and some of the best comics are where our favorite hero’s turn evil. The multiverse exists so technically they’ll never really die. There are some really good villain characters that would make good ips for games.

To be fair about your point with dustin assuming what the potential ending is. He’s kinda right if the story ends up being a bland generic mediocre fetch quest go here kill here probably defend a point and so on. But regardless if that’s what the whole game will be then yes he’s 100% right and you yourself can guess the ending probably within the first hour

The biggest Problem is normal ppl don't have 3 friends with the same schedule and pacing to play a Story campaign with, and public matchmaking is always a shitshow where everyone runs in a different direction the main Feature doesn't work in the Real World. You can only play this coop if you have 3 ppl that wanna watch cutscenes etc. It's just not gonna happen...

I really wanna look forward to the game however it just doesn’t really look that appealing. Gunplay just doesn’t look that good, story seems kinda whatever, not super interesting to me. Idk it could be great but the people that made the Arkham games so great, the people that had the vision are long gone from Rocksteady. Oh well maybe we’ll get that beyond game one day.
