The only company that was good at clone and TV Games back in the day was Jakk Pacific they had Pac Man, SpongeBob,Nick Games,Spiderman and from what I remember they were excellent products and they also worked on the early WWF and WWE games if I'm not mistaken. And I feel bad for kids nowadays because TV Games we're a blast back then the only control we're the 4AA batteries that didn't last long. But they were a blast. WHO else remembers TV Games and share your memories in the comments? Also I'm 20 and Nintendo Gamecube and TV Games we're my jam as a kid.

I, personally, Enjoy mine. I have 3: pac man, Centipede, and the SpaceInvaders one. I have a special place in my heart for all of the NES versions, so I really enjoy them. I guess it also helps that I have the Arcade versions of all 3 from Arcade 1up so, I’m not as Upset about this, but I DEFINITELY understand as far as the false advertising goes. Something needs to be done about that.

AtGames lied, there never was a Namco Bandai Blast with the arcade versions. Every one that were on store shelves were just the NES games and now Bandai Namco is taking them to court for decepting customers. Only John Hancock got the one with the arcade games.

I knew it! My brother got this for his son for Christmas. And when we hooked it up to the TV the *first* thing I noticed is that it was the NES ports instead of the ones pictured on the box!

The original AT games genesis that came out was actually the reason i got into retro gaming!! My son got it for Christmas and we played sonic and i told him that the sound was off and it felt weird. Found Super Street Fighter 2 at a flea market and popped it in and it didnt work!! Long story short i ended up getting a genesis and the rest is history. I now have over 1000 games and a dozens of consoles :)

Walmart requested an exclusive version of this unit. It was easier for @games to swap out the Arcade Roms for NES ROMs to add Pac-Mania because it would require less testing then to add the arcade rom of Pac-Mania because it ran on different hardware.

Analogue's KZfaq channel seems like it already has some footage for the Mega SG now that you mention it, and it looks and sounds leagues better than anything ATGames has ever produced.

Having been a vendor in the past, I can testify to the fact that Walmart underpays vendors, and the only recourse vendors have is to not do business with Walmart. Since Walmart has a near monopoly, few people have the balls to step-up to them. AT Games is far from the first company I've detected selling a garbage version of their product at Walmart.

I bought a Pong Atari Flashback Blast today for 5$ American. The 2600 Emulation is good...They always got that right, I have an Atari Flashback 3 as well....Most people won’t notice any issues with these products....I haven’t, for 5$ at Walmart it is a good deal....If you don’t have the games on Switch or PS Vita it is a good value....Plus I prefer the paddles to a touch screen or twitchy joystick of the PS Vita version. The controls suck on the Atari Flashback Classics Collection on PS Vita, this is better, not perfect, but much better....The games work somewhat better with the PS Vita touch screen...Still this is better! They are just sitting on the shelf not selling for 5$....It’s not bad...20 games for 5$.

This is PRECISELY why I purchased Retrobit's "Super Retro-cade" for my retro gaming needs instead of an AtGames product. It was relatively inexpensive, came with an SD card slot, and decent emulation software. I've been able to upgrade to a joystick style controller and I've loaded close to 1,000 classic games with artwork all due to the support of the retro gaming community because absolutely NOBODY knows LESS about gaming, computers, and programming than I do and even I could tell those weren't arcade ROM's on that AtGames product. Honestly, I think it's pretty funny and kinda pathetic how he went straight to "class action" over these little novelty devices. Come on. Get a grip. I'd get both versions to, you know, have both versions. Those with a collector's mindset should surely understand. But oh no, let's hassle a relatively small company over a relatively small device with ROMs on it that with not make or break anyone by buying one.

I remember a few years at a party with my local friends, someone brought me a Miss Pacman Pop Figures and she said that she tried to look for something for me that relates to video game girls, but that was all that she could find. I thanked her for giving me a Miss Pacman Pop figure but I also informed her that next year she could get me a Anime Pop Vynal as there are a few Sailor Moon and Sword Art Online Pop Figures and if she could remember it for next year's Christmas Party, that would be an easier area where to find something that I want. She got pissed off and tried to tell me that I should not be all about Anime and that I should have diverse interests instead of being all about Anime all the time. Well I guess she is just a casual person who wanted to force her values onto me, or something must have been pissing her off since she has this sort of hatred against Anime.

AtGames is the Moviepass of video game companies! They scam people with ripping off their consumers! I hope Sega’s mini Genesis isn’t made by AtGames, also that product is another plug in play!

I don't care what AtGames is saying, most companies produce inferior versions of their products to sell to Walmart because they are trying to meet Walmarts price point. Remember, to companies Walmart is their customer, not the consumer. Products made for Walmart are often smaller, or made with cheaper parts. This applies to everything from televisions to shampoo. I'll bet that the arcade versions of these games need more RAM (the main reason why some of the NES ports look so different from their arcade counterparts) AtGames would've needed permission from the original design company for each version to even include it in an "initial production run".

Publishers, computer magazines have shown the better versions of screenshots for decades, so that's nothing new. However I did try the Walmart version with the NES ROMs a few days ago and it did have graphic glitches hence why I am returning it. It also sucks that not all TVs including new expensive ones support USB power during HDMI use, thus meaning you need to use an external power.

The SEGA portable was the best IMO. Can we say SD card....roms.....portably!

Just use an emulator on a PC if you want to play old games, or better yet, by the old console itself...

Even before I knew who AtGames were, when I saw those boxes of theirs in the stores, all I could see was an extremely cheap product with no love or respect, and my Dad, who barely gives a care about games, is happy he skipped this when a co-worker of his talked about the AtGames product. I hope the company burns, I do, and the people that work there, should be ashamed to to sell inferior junk.

Unless they use the original hardware from way back then, it's an emulator. So either you learn to setup emulators on your PC or Android device or you buy the original hardware. Cause nobody has yet to make a proper clone.

I would say they are more ignorant rather than casual gamers. Even a casual gamer knows Atgames sucks. Ignorance just means a lack of knowledge on the subject & info, so it's not a bad term like most people think.

It is a known fact that walmart requests cheaper versions of products that are advertised as the same product from manufactures. They want to be able to sell it cheaper and make more. If you open a (brand x) tv sold at walmart a lot of times it has cheaper parts than one sold somwhere else even though it is the "same tv". They do this with TVs, and computers. They will typically change one small thing about the model number or something with the features to prevent it being bait and switch. In this case it has the different game. Buying electronics at walmart is always a gamble because of that. I think in this case they were just caught.

Considering the fact that their reputation is already in the toilet, this doesn't surprise me at all. This is actually one company that I think should go out of business. I hope the employees get better jobs afterwards, though. I met John Handcock btw at the gaming expo in August. He was a very intelligent and interesting man.

Seeing AtGames in the BedBath I work at, I'm disgusted every time I walk by that between customers. And know people keep eating this stuff up on top of my company selling this. It makes me wonder if I can convince my store to quit selling them as they'll ruin the holidays.

Nintendo did something similar a few years ago with their New 3DS XL where you randomly either got a capacitive or resistive type of touch screen. I don't remember the details but one is of better quality than the other and there is no way to either choose which you get nor pay less for the inferior one.

I mean... it's AtGames. I kinda question they way they went about doing things when I seen that most of the box art on the 80+ Sega consoles had stolen custom box art from the cover project.

At the price point ATGames is charging, just buy both versions, and get 2 versions of each game. Or, as you suggested, wait until after the holidays and buy these from the bargain bin, or on eBay, once people realize these units are crappy. I also realize that these are not for the serious gamer. It's for the Wal-Mart shopper buying a stocking stuffer, or a gift for their kid. ATGames own website has a "Where To Buy" link, and this is what they list: CVS, Meijer, QVC, Rite Aid, Target, Walgreens, Walmart. Buyers getting their video games from these stores are going to play it, enjoy it, not enjoy it, keep it, trash it, sell it, give it away, toss it in a drawer or closet, etc. Just like any other Holiday or Birthday gift. Serious gamers know better than to buy these - or at least they know what they are getting. And the average Joe won't care. I do consider myself a gamer, and I like ATGames, Jakks Pacific, etc. They are a great way to get a quick game fix if you only have a short time to play, and also a great way to introduce young kids to retro gaming. Will I buy these new ATGames things? Maybe. In the bargain bin, on eBay, or at the thrift store...6 months from now when I see them somewhere cheap.

What if the NES roms were done on Wal-Mart Dictate? Wal-Mart has been known to order Wal-Mart exclusive versions of product to be lower in quality than others. One of the Dell Laptops I bought had a non-Walmart version that contained a discrete graphics chip, but the Wal-Mart Exclusive version of the same model didn't.

I bet it's simply that Walmart wanted a profit margin that was impossible to meet with hardware that has enough power to emulate the arcade versions.

FWIW it ,might have actually been a bit of both issues. Wal-Mart is pretty well known for requesting cheaper exclusive variants of name brand products to sell in their stores, so it's possible a deal was made to offload the inferior, earlier product as the Wal-Mart exclusive. That said, most of their target audience of casual gamers probably wouldn't even notice these issues, and if they did, even fewer would probably care.
