My very black very southern mother was IN LOVE with Kenny Roger's. To quote her at the time, "That's one sexy white man." I was so shocked all I could do was laugh.

I married my husband twelve weeks after our first date, which was one week after we met. Everyone we knew told us we were making a mistake, but we were young and stubborn and didn't care what anyone else thought. Thirty-two years and two grown kids later, we are so happy about the mistake we made that we figure we'll continue making it for another 30.

@@patches1589 Ruby was a favorite of my dad’s too! He was an aspiring country singer/songwriter and he used to play that one on his guitar all the time. I can still hear him sing it. He passed away in ‘87 when I was 13 years old from a work accident. There are so many songs that remind me of him, but Kenny definitely holds a special place in my heart because he was a favorite of my dad’s.

I was nuts as a kid for Kenny Rogers. Loved his stuff. You've done six of his songs (one with Dolly), but there are so many great ones to check out. "Coward of the County" is another great storytelling song, and then you got "She Believes in Me", "You Decorated My Life", "Don't Fall In Love With a Dreamer" (duet with Kim Carnes), "We've Got Tonight" (duet with Sheena Easton, who you REALLY need toa dd to your Female Friday lineup), and, if you want go ALL the way back to Kenny's beginning, he released his first single in 1957 at the age of 19 called "That Crazy Feeling".

This by far is my favorite Kenny Rogers song of all time. This is a song I danced with my father at my wedding. I gave my Dad a DVD of pictures of him and I through my childhood up to modern time for a Christmas gift with this song playing in the background. Along with the rest of the Share Your Love album, the song was produced by Lionel Richie - they had previously teamed on Rogers' hit "Lady." Richie is the one who decided "Through The Years" was a good fit for Rogers. "Kenny was actually the third or fourth person that was approached with that song," co-writer Steve Dorff said in a Song facts interview. "Barry Manilow and Mac Davis passed on it. Glen Campbell passed on it. Those were the notable ones. Lionel Richie had heard the song and loved it and played it for his people and that's how it happened. I got a phone call from Gene Page, that great arranger, who called me and said, 'Congratulations! We just cut your song with Kenny Rogers, and it sounds amazing.'"

I didnt know that! I am playing the song in my head and substituting Barry Manilow's voice in. I am convinced it would have been a hit for him. Strange that he gave it a pass. But this is a amazing song by Kenny Rogers, probably my favorite song by him

The first time I heard this song, it had just come out and I was 7 years old, and was at a 50th anniversary party for a relative. Someone had this song playing on a boom box while scrolling through slides being projected onto a screen (no computers or PowerPoint in those days). Anyway, I couldn't possibly imagine the concept of a relationship, let alone being in one for 50 years at that age. But now, after having been with my wife for over 20 years, every time I hear this song I think about being a little kid, just starting life and sitting in a room of old people crying to this song while thinking of all the memories of a long life together.

Kenny was able to sing in a way that touched women's hearts not unlike Humperdict and Jones. Now, given the lyrics of this beautifully romantic song, women, young and old, weep at hearing it so wonderfully performed. Young women weep because the song represents what they all seek and pray, yet older women shed tears and give praise for the recognition of the life they have been blessed to lead. More romantic songs are difficult to find and greater performers than Rogers are also. I'm very glad y'all have continued to learn about Kenny and the value of great music and its commentary on life, love, devotion and passing.

This is my song to my husband of 27 years this coming Thursday, 9/1. We had another 🎵 when we were young married. This one is for our marriage that has had a lot of up and downs but we stayed the course. This is our song.

I met my wife the last part of 2004,( around Nov. or Dec.) and we got to know each other pretty quick. Proposed to her Valentines 2005, ( I just knew), my parent had been separated since I was 5, lived with my mom in Arkansas till I was 12, then went to live with my dad in Texas till I was out of high school. So when I took my wife to met my dad he had brain cancer for about 4 years, he loved her and told me to treat her right. We where married April 2005, and then the beginning of July 2005 my Nanny,( my mom's mom), passed away, then at the end of July 2 days after my dad turned 50, he passed away. She helped diagnose me with our doctor's help with anxiety and depression. The end of Nov. we had a bad wreck on the bridge between Texarkana and our home in Hope. There was also like 3 or 4 semis be hind us. God really watched over us, he sent me a angel in my wife. I really believe this, because we have now been married 18 years. Like I said in the Lady comments, she is my Lady.😊

I can't remember when you weren't there When I didn't care for anyone but you And I swear we've been through everything there is Can't imagine anything we've missed Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do Through the years, you've never let me down You turned my life around The sweetest days I've found, I've found with you Through the years, I've never been afraid I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad I stayed right here with you Through the years I can't remember what I used to do Who I trusted, whom I listened to before I swear you've taught me everything I know Can't imagine needing someone so Through the years, it seems to me I need you more and more Through the years, through all the good and bad I know how much we had I've always been so glad to be with you Through the years, it's better every day You've kissed my tears away As long as it's okay, I'll stay with you Through the years Through the years, when everything went wrong Together we were strong I know that I belong right here with you Through the years, I've never had a doubt We'd always work things out I've learned what life's about by loving you Through the years Through the years, you've never let me down You turned my life..

Kenny Roger's was such a fine gentleman and a great singer. His love songs sound so heart felt and genuine. He carried himself well and set a high standard in the music industry. What a great and nice personality he was. I for one was truly sorry at his passing. God bless your soul and rest in peace Kenny.

Kenny Rogers is such an iconic singer and I have been married 27 years but on my 25th I made a video for my wife with this song playing and my wife is not a big crier but she was non stop through this song and video. I didn't mean to make her cry but smile because she completes my life but Kenny's song just says everything a great marriage should be like.

This is my favorite song by Kenny Rogers. I cry listening to this because it was my parents' song...they would dance to this together at home all the time, my Dad passed away when I was 27, in 1995. This is so emotional for my mom. Oh I miss my Dad so much! 💖😥💔💖

Kenny Rogers' career crossed over many genres of music. Started in Jazz, then onto Folk music with the 'New Christy Minstrels' then onto pop and rock with 'The First Edition'. Towards the end of 'The First Edition's' run they moved into country music. After 'The First Edition', Kenny went solo focussing on Country / Pop records. Kenny has over 120 hit singles over his career. Kenny is an all around great singer. Kenny also played bass with 'The New Christy Minstrels'. 😎
