I think great respect has to go to Sohyang in this one, and some of the other performances in this series for her ability to absolutely kill the on the vocals of these more current pop songs, like when she took the bulk of the rap in the song ‘day day’ simply because she was the best at rapping that fast for that long.pShe is of a different generation to the rest of the singers who are probably more familiar than the present artists & pop charts. You know she could kill those Ariana high notes in her sleep, but as is the norm when she’s part of a duet, she always brings her vocal level to enhance her partners vocals & let them shine, rather than use her superior vocals to push her in to the limelight & show everybody that she’s on a different level to everybody else. We shouldn’t be surprised by this from Sohyang because it’s just sums her up, the fact that she takes great pleasure on helping others & is probably happier out of the limelight. I’ve seen all of these performances from ‘begin again Korea’ that include Sohyang & have managed to see outtakes of rehearsals & the bits of folm after each song has finished & it is plain to see that the ‘youngsters’ in this ensemble can’t believe their luck that Sohyang agreed to join them, the way they look at her when they’ve finished a song, the way they stare at her openmouthed & sometimes in tears when she is singing alone, in complete awe of her talents. Amongst many other comments from them praising Sohyang, the comment that I always remember is that one of them said that having Sohyang sing with them was like having a living textbook on the art of singing with them at all times. You have now started to discover that in this ‘begin again korea’ series, Sohyang is tackling many genre’s & probably my very fav performance by her during this series is yet another completely different genre, her performance of Ella Fitzgerald’s’Misty’ which I highly recommend you give a few minutes of your time to, I’m sure you won’t regret, even if this type of music is not your cup of tea ( very British I know!) you can only marvel at her ability to not only sing any genre, but to sing it well.
