While looking at the pieces of the Valk and the Valk Power, I realized that they were basically exactly the same. So I tried switching the pieces around!

At the end, I really do agree. When I started cubing (a few months ago), I saw a lot of different options for cubes that I wanted. A lot of people suggested the GTS2, the Valk, and the GAN Air for the best cubes. I got a GTS2 and didn't like it, but I couldn't get another one since I didn't have the budget for a new puzzle until after a while. You really should try out cubes before you buy them if you aren't sponsored and don't have the money. Also, reviewers should be aware of new standards for cubes. A lot of people say things like "All modern cubes have similar corner cutting" or "Basically what you would expect from a modern 3x3." I think that 3x3 performance has definitely not yet peaked. Corner cutting, stability, and speed are not perfected yet on any cube in my opinion.

At the start I got a GTS 2M, I’m ok with it. But after I got Gans Air Sm and Valk, I realize GTS 2M is really not for me. It’s just doesn’t suit my style. Valk and Sm is just amazing. I like the feeling of the valk but Sm could function better. Nonetheless, Valk is really great.

Get a Yan 3 or a MFR3RS. These cubes do not necessarily require lube to turn just as fast as the high-end cubes. The yan 3 without lube is very fast like the valk 3 thats why people put heavy lube on the yan. The MFR3RS is very excellent.

From what I know, the holes in the corners are the main contributor to the signature Valk sound. When friction is created in the pieces, it vibrates the air inside the cube and sound ennergy is generated. That sound needs to go somewhere, and there are conveniently placed holes in the corner pieces, where the sound goes and bounces against the walls of the corner pieces, making it louder. This is what I believe to be correct, please do correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks, and great video as always J Perm!

My guess as to why the corners determine the noise is that, when you corner cut even the slightest bit, the corners are what accelerate most when the pieces move back to their places and collide.

Cubies with holes in them have a vastly different sound signature simply because of the holes. Example older Guo Guan. the metal threading in the power make a more rig and solid structure which probably reverberates at a smaller magnitude and different pitch also.

The reason they feel different is that the Valk Power has primary internals and primary plastic is supposed to feel identical to stickerless. So basically you get a stickerless feel but the caps allow for stickered variations.

The reason why the cube with Valk power edges and Valk corners feels kinda loose is probably because of the strength of the magnets. I'm assuming the Valk power had weaker magnets than your Valk 3, so the corner magnets outdid the edge magnets.
@JPerm
@JPerm 6 жыл бұрын
i don't think it's the magnet strength, but maybe the magnet alignment like i mention in the video. the magnets in the valk are not from my cosmic valk M, and it has relatively weak magnets, so i'd guess the 2 cubes i used have around the same magnet strength

@j perm Question I have GTS2 M and Valk power M. sometimes I like one and sometimes the other more. leaning towards the power currently, could be because it may be at a sweet spot in it's lubing evolution characteristic if that makes sense. would the regular Valk be worth a try, seeing as how neither one was intended to be better then the other?? TBH which cube I use is not a limitation whatsoever since I'm a 20-35s solver. I'm not expecting to suddenly start laying down sub 15 solves. I just like options and having the nicest items possible for my hobbies. (this is an extremely cheap hoppy for me fortunately. casually racing superbikes takes the lead there) So price isn't much concern with how much enjoyment and value I get out of the cubes. I been cubing roughly 2.5 months. I wish I discovered this world sooner, I'm going on 32. Maybe I wouldn't be so mediocre! Thanks for the worth while video content.

+brandon glover the regular valk overshoots less than the gts2m, and feels less elastic than the power. it's one of my favorite cubes (2nd behind gan air SM) so imo its definitely worth trying. I prefer weak magnets over strong magnets just because of how stable the valk already is, so weak magnets help it stay cube shape rather than help it align on every turn. it's pretty great without magnets too, imo best non magnetic cube.

J Perm thanks. I've never had my hands on a Gans either.

Thank you for the last part of the video. You have a creditability in your videos because you are more concerned with honest opinions than creating sales of the newest cube. The right cube is not always the new cube. Great reminder.

you can only put the valk power magnets in one place because it uses slots

+GAMER ISHIT cstimer.net in the video, I often use qqtimer.net as well. I highly recommend the valk since it's good at everything and not very specialized. The gts2m is also a good option because it's cheap and magnetic, but it's super fast so only get it if it suits your style.

How is switching pieces from different cubes creating new cubes and also how is it accidentally doing it?

That is the question isn't it, people aren't exactly sure but I think it comes from the plastic and the internal piece design, this is a well known trick but if you have a clear zip tie and a black zip tie, the black one lasts longer, but how does this relate to the cube? Well when you put the black dye in plastics it make the plastic softer and less brittle, as you saw in the video, the power has not been dyed on the inside so the plastic isn't softer and it feels "snappier". The other reason why is the power's walls for the pieces are thicker, this causes them to be even less soft, and higher pitched.

i think its cuz the power has primary internals and the valk has regular internals so maybe that has something to do with it
