Throughout 2019 and 2020, I took a couple flights with Europe's largest low-cost carrier, through their hub in Dublin.
However, I never actually posted any of those since I focus more on Canadian airlines here, and I figured people might not be as interested.
By popular demand on my channel member Discord though (see below), here it is - a Ryanair trip report from Dublin, Ireland, to Rzeszów, Poland!

Ryanair is absolutely fine. It's cheap 'n cheerful and doesn't pretend to be anything else. You get what you pay for. I'm pretty sure that most of the online hate is based on received wisdom rather than actual experience. As someone who's flown the world in all cabin classes over the last 50 years, I'll also point out that the Ryanair 'hard landing' meme is absolute nonsense.

There is perhaps some truth in it since the landing speed of the 737 is higher than comparable aircraft like the A320. They operate 2400+ flights per day, so some of those landings are bound to be on the rougher side. Still, a firm landing is a safe landing. Safety is more important than passenger comfort.

Been on so many Ryanair flights. You get what you pay for with them. Ultimately it's a bus on wings and gets you where you need to be at a super low cost so as much as I'd love to knock them, I've had flights cheaper than a train from my hometown to London. Completely agree. I used to fly a lot between Italy and Spain, I used AirEuropa and was really happy about it, but after Ryanair restarted operations after Covid, I made the switch. It's way less premium, but it cuts off 70% of the cost, at the price of a slight inconvenience (worst sits, worst terminals or longer walks in the same terminal, sometimes boarding with the 737 built-in stairs). I saved hundreds of euros flying the same airplane type.

Ryanair flight attendant here! 7:13 trust me, sometimes there are times you avoid eye contact and then there is the time in which you actually have a very nice conversation with the people in front of you. Then there's is the problem on the new MAX 200 planes in which a cabin crew literally has to sit in the MIDDLE of the cabin facing passengers because of the extra emergency exits but we're not going to talk about that. Also fun fact on the first flight, the front plane stairs where broken because they used Dublin airport steps

To be honest I always found Ryanair was the way to go in Europe. They fly to many destinations that otherwise wouldn’t be reachable (e.g. Mykonos in October 2020 was only served from Ryanair as it comes to western Germany). Sure you don’t get anything fancy, there are delays and some weird customers but nothing I haven’t seen on full service carriers. I worked with guys from Glasgow who used to fly weekly for 3 and 4 day shifts in Dublin and could fly weekly because Ryanair was so cheap. They would book as far in advance as they could since they knew a year in advance what shift hours and days they would be working. Many shared accommodation in Dublin ( expensive) with colleagues who worked opposite shifts so to cut costs.

My three Ryanair flights have been, well, not great. One was fine, one had a rather messy cabin, and one was two hours late, and because we booked it last-minute due to a canceled flight it cost over 250€ per person. And flights over two hours should be avoided due to the miserable legroom.

@Graham Cook I have been a frequent business and leisure traveller for the past 40 years. To go anywhere from the UK into the rest of Europe on the national carriers back in the 1980/90's generally cost £450 unless yo styayed a Saturday night. Those fare levels have been history since Ryanair (and Easyjet to be fair) came along. My colleagues at work snobbishly laughed at me flying to Sweden on Ryanair for £30 while they flew SAS/BA for 10 to 15 times as much. It was not long before the management copped onto that! I have been able to afford to fly my family over the years to many places that without Ryanairs' presence in the market, I would not have been able to. You obviously do not like O'Leary, so what, he is outspoken and says things that many governments do not like to hear, but the proof is n the passenger numbers.

Ryanair have better legroom (30” pitch) than British Airways short haul Economy (29” pitch). Beside that, any LCC around the world operating the 737-800 will virtually all have the same cabin seat layout as Ryanair which is 189 passengers seats.

Thanks Alex from another tall guy. I have flown several times with Ryanair and, like you, it's a very adequate experience. So a low cost carrier, pay for bag, pay for seat, pay for food on board. Air Canada, Westjet, so-called full service airlines, pay for bag, pay for seat, pay for food on board. When is the Canadian traveller going to react to the highway robbery of flying in Canada on full service airlines. Love, Flair looking forward to flying Lynx. It's about time. Thanks again for your videos.

I've flown Ryanair a handful of times, and my experience has always been that they're very safe and they'll get you where you want to go, but flying with them can be hazardous to your mental health. The flight crew tend to be disinterested in their jobs, the cabins are cramped, there are always plenty of unruly passengers, and they nickel and dime you for everything to the point where what you end up paying including add-ons is more or less the same as what you'd pay for a full service carrier on the same route.

About 10 years ago, I paid £16 for a return flight from Birmingham to Marseille with Ryanair. That was about £10 cheaper than the first flight I ever took in 1973. It included priority boarding. The bloke sat next to me had paid £10 (without priority). The flight was fine, and on time both ways. If you follow the Ryanair rules on luggage, seats, etc., and don't expect Emirates or Qatar 1st class service, you'll have nothing to worry about. There was a woman at Malaga who tried to take in the cabin a grossly over-loaded 'cabin' bag that weighed 19 kg and did not remotely fit in the bag measurer. She went ballistic when the Ryanair staff told her it needed to go in the hold. The staff were patient, professional, and put up with a lot of swearing and shouting from that stupid ....... person (I won't use word I'm thinking of!)

I flew with Ryanair along with my family containing 4 children (2, 10, 15, 18) and two parents. Me and my dad are both about 195cm (6’4) with long legs but the leg room was not a problem for me, and should definitely not be for the majority of people that aren’t giants. Definitely worth it!

Honestly I've flown with Ryanair many times and I can't really complain.. it's very cheap and they have pretty good food you can buy if you get hungry. I would rather spend my money on extra things during my holidays than paying 10 times more just to have a more pleasant experience during a 2-3 hour flight. Just download a movie or listen to some music and before you know it you arrive at your destination.

People should stop trashing Ryanair. - They allow you to visit many cities for a reasonable price - Their seats actually offers decent legroom on a 737-800 - They never had a single fatality in their operating history Most of the flights are under 2 hours. So if you can sit on a bus for 2 hours, you can easily sit on a Ryanair plane for 2 hours.

I am 6 ft and there is enough leg room but what I dislike is the non recling seats.not because I like to fully recline the seat and annoy the person behing, but if the seasts are to be fixed, and I understand why they are, the angle of the seat back could be a bit more relaxed. I find it a little too upright. Some others have fixed seats but have a few more degrees of angled recline and feel better.

I have flown FR on many occasions on the route BVA (Paris) to Dublin . It must be said the prices are generally unbeatable and the departures and arrivals are within a reasonable time frame . I found that the staff were friendly and courteous . My biggest annoyance is the actual booking online . Incessant options and 'clicks' , overwhelming . This should be really tidied up . Essentially you get what you pay for though paying 300-400€ with a legacy carrier for the same flight as opposed to 45€ return with FR is a no brainer . In fact Ryanair has become the default national carrier of many European countries .

I Fly With Ryanair From STN (London Stansted) To RZE (Rzeszów) and Back and Flying Out and Into Rzeszów Is So Nice As It Isn't and airport like heathrow or chicago, It Is Really Easy To Navigate and Despite It Being A Small Airport, It Has A Lounge Which Is Great and It Is Not So Busy Unlike Heathrow Or Luton. I Am Polish Myself and I Belive That Rzeszów Is The Best Looking Airport (Terminal Building) and it has had so many events, which is awsome (B747 Landing) (C17 Landings) etc. And In Terms Of Ground Handling, Security, Airport Staff etc. They Are On Their Role as I Have Never Had A Delayed Flight From Rzeszów

But its fine, you get a seat, they fly you where you wanna go for cheap, no bullshit, no extras just a cheap flight. Why not? Oh and they are safe rarely any accidents or crashes no fatal crashes at all I beleive and theu generally have a good rep about their maintenance and safety procedures which they didnt cut back on

I think that the compact nature of Europe is probably a great asset towards the success of cheap thrill short haul flights. Canada is a large country and it's also a long way to get there. Any overseas long haul presents totally different circumstances. For example, when I fly to South America there is no such competition on pricing. However, what many people may not realise, is that when you fly to the third world, living is so cheap, and delicious foods so abundant, that it pays for your air-fare after one month!!!! - however expensive is your return ticket!!!!!!!
