I have a big secret project!! jk it's no secret... I want to write a book! Writing a book is a huge project, and I don't want it to just be another youtuber book. I want to pour my heart and soul into creating this, and it's probably going to take years but this is a start!

About Sierra and Stephen IRL
Hey friends! I’m Sierra Schultzzie and this is my shared vlog channel with my husband, Stephen. Over on my main channel, I make videos about midsize and plus size fashion and body positivity, but this channel is all about my real life! We started vlogging 3 years ago to document planning our wedding and growing together as a young married couple, and the channel has now really become our passion project. We love creating travel vlogs, disneyland vlogs, documenting our journey trying to get pregnant, showing behind the scenes of creating my fashion videos, and all the little ups and downs of our unfiltered, real life.

I feel somewhat bad for saying that, because everybody else seems super supportive. But I still think it's constructive input. I don't really think that a book is the best idea for you. Just having the irk to write a book, not even sure what to write about, isn't the best starting point in my eyes. For so many influencers, their books don't seem to add something. So often it's the same content just expressed through another medium. The same message, the same topics, just in bookform. And even if it's not meant in that way, without bringing something new to the table for which it would make sense to use a new form of media, it can seem like a cashgrab. If you're writing a fictional story, short stories or a novel, it's a different conversation. But your body positivity message in bookform (a suggestion I often saw on Facebook and in the comments) frankly seems unnecessary to me.

I agree! I felt bad for thinking this but seeing youtubers publish a book gives me the “here we go again” feeling. I think there is a clear difference between being passionate writing a book than having the sudden motivation for it. I think youtuber books always fall flat too, and they tend to never get the recognition for the effort put into it. It is an niche area, and unless if the person knows that they have they target audience for it. But hey, Sierra, if ya wanna go for it do it! I just think knowing the process and true passion for it needs it be understood.

Really really loved Skylar’s birth story. So brave of her to be so vulnerable. My sister has 2 kids and both times she had negative experiences. Glad to see people being more open and honest about something that is often romanticized.

That's so interesting you say that because when I was pregnant I feel like I heard nothing but all the things that could go wrong during my L&D. I was mentally preparing myself for all those things. Then mine turned out relatively short, and I dont wanna say easy but it was definitely not a negative experience at all. So now, if anyone asks me I tell them to prepare for the worst but hope for the best! In a sense That L&D is unpredictable but it can also go wonderfully right and be amazing!

My best writing advice:. Show up at the keyboard at the same stage in the day, five or six days a week. Don't wait around for inspiration. If you show yourself faithful to the writing, it'll be faithful to you. And when you said, "I get a big smile on my face," I happy-cried a little, because I know exactly how you feel. Go for it! PS Read Anne LaMotte's Bird by Bird. It's about writing a novel, but her chapter about "One inch picture frames" applies to all kinds of writing.

Unfortunately, I've got to agree with some of the other comments on here... I've been a professional writer and editor for years now; it's a hustle all on its own and I see people with passion, years of experience, and practice behind their books struggle to get them to readers. With this platform, if it's books you're interested in, maybe it would be good for you to start your own book club to promote books you're enthusiastic about, instead of trying to come up with your own book at this age just because you have this platform and probably a book deal on the table. That being said, I wish you the best in this endeavor if you decide to move forward with it.

I love the Office, but it definitely can get a bit old/annoying. You're almost to "The Dinner Party" (I think it's halfway through season 4), which is pure art from start to finish, just a thing of absolute beauty and probably my favorite 22 minutes of television ever.

I’d be more interested in a fictional book then body positivity. Since you could always work it in a fictional work as well. Why limit yourself? I’d say do it. I’m in a similar boat. Just don’t know if I’ll ever find the drive and time for it.. good luck writing ✍️

Going to be honest, just due to the fact that I've never heard you express any sort of interest in writing or reading or any form of literature at all, this kinda seems like something your manager mentioned to you/this is a cash grab for you rather than a genuine interest (not saying you're not genuinely interested in these things, but this is how it's coming off to me and probably a lot of other people). I think if you wanted to express your body positive message through some other medium, then try something more true to you and your brand!

I think you are going to be shook at how hard it is to write a concise book that gets your point or story across. Get ready for 1000 edits 😂 it will be great when it’s done though. I know you have an office team-but it’s all people you love, the office is only funny if you have worked in an office with people NOT of your choosing 😂 it’s 100% accurate and funny!!!

One thing I think would be really awesome to include and would make the book even more successful would be putting little self care/ self love activities in the middle or end of it. Idk if you know what I mean, but like I’ve seen some books with little cute activities, or coloring pages, or fill in the blank, or something along those lines and I always love it.

I wrote a book in three and a half weeks because literally I didn’t do anything but eat, sleep, and write. I pushed myself, averaging on 5000 words a day. I, looking back, still have no idea how I did it. I think it was a really well needed escape for me, it being at the start of quarantine, and K was able to fully subversive myself. But, regardless of how many words you’re averaging, it’s still a great accomplishment. My advice is, to start, you need to want to write what your writing, but you don’t need to love it every second. Sure, you’ll love it, but you won’t LOVE it. You’ll get blocked, you won’t be inspired, but that’s okay. Push through it, keep writing. It’s the starter advice, just write. You can always go back and change things later. Keep on pushing and you’ll get through it. You got this!

I think the body positive message is an important topic that needs to spread to others without devices. My mom always calls her self fat and see’s herself as the problem when trying on clothes or even looking in the mirror, I miss her being unapologetic about her body. I’m 12 and personally really enjoy your main channel and vlog channel. YOU SPREAD A GREAT MESSAGE! I tell my mom about you and she doesn’t listen she just stays REALLY REALLY depressed!! I've always wanted to write a book, ever since I was a kid and teachers would praise me for my writing and I absolutely loved doing it. Then everything went downhill and I stopped writing anything for years. I'm slowly getting back to it but it's so hard even though it's something I genuinely enjoy doing?? Weird how it works. Anyways, you saying you want to write a book and being so excited and positive about it reminded me how much I want that too and that I should just get to work instead of just...dreaming about doing so? So thanks for that and I hope we both manage to become authors. Can't wait to see what your book is gonna be about, what world you'll create. Good luck!!

I was literally the same way with the office. I didn’t find it that funny the first time. Then I watched it the second time and fell in love. It grows on you

If you want to write a book, go for it! You already have the platform, a solid fan base, and great content marketing skills. Honestly, you could probably be successful going the self publishing route because you have a solid platform and marketing skills, but self punlishing vs. traditional publishing with an agent is up to you! Just don't choose a vanity publisher! You shouldn't have to pay to get published. I wish you all the best! I can't wait to hear more about it! Also, I'm loving your hair! CGM is amazing! 💕
