Hey Marcus, thanks for the great video. I’m from Fl. I do have couple of questions.. when did you register your business? Did you register before you started earning or after? I’m traveling down this path and trying to make it work. Do you have anything else you can share with us as advise or so?

Hey! It’s can be difficult at times but I believe opening and running a studio has to do with marketing and constantly promoting the studio which will help! Running ads, flyers, and vintage fly showing your audiences that you have a space for rent! When I don’t do this then I don’t get as many bookings! It also can be challenging because if you are booked with rentals then make sure it doesn’t interfere with your schedule! It would be ideal to have a big enough space to rent to locals and a private studio space just for you which is always available to your clients so you won’t clash schedules! It can still work but you just have to manage everything and make sure you don’t double book! So the process has to be tight! So it’s not easy but it can be done and once so it’s rewarding because you’re using a space for free pretty much!

Just know that you’ll have highs and lows throughout the year! And try to add a little spice to the studio as far as props, backdrops, and setups to keep photographers wanting to come back every quarter or holiday etc

I also have a studio tour in my Camera Basics Course that shows everything I have in the studio just about! Not sure if you’re in need of something like this! I’ll be dripping out content teaching on all kinds of subjects like Studio, Natural Light, Off Camera Flash, Editing Photos, Best Lenses and Equipment, Posing Tips, Online Resources, and So much more! The first course launched is called Camera basics which gives to the answers to all things equipment and teaches you the fundamental in shooting great photos and videos! Where you get your studio and how?

Got it in my local city near downtown! I paid a deposit and I’m in there!!!

Hey, so if you rent the space you can still rent it out to other creatives who want to rent the studio and pay you?

That’s correct! You can rent it to the photographers who want to rent it for how ever many hours for their sessions! And I typically will use that money to pay for my studio rent! The key is making your studio stand out from the rest and market that you have a studio for rent!

@@MarcusDPorter if just the rent, not including utilities or whatever is 2500, how much do you charge them for one hour of studio time?

@@anthomedia It would be $75 per hour with a 2 hour minimum! Which means I would need 17 people to book two hour session per month for me to hit my rent goal! You can move it to $100 if you space us unique and has a ton of perks! And that would be like $200 or $250 your brining in per rentee if ya space! But also make sure you have enough free time to shoot your own clients

Yeah it was bananas but it was in a very bad area with prostitution and all other stuff!

is the renting of the studio to other photographers profitable?

It definitely can be. You just have to see if there is a market for it in your area. If you notice or hear a lot of photographers in your area that is in need of a place to shoot and there maybe not that many options which it then could work. Also, if you set your studio apart or give it a different vibe or theme then that will help as well. Also, you have to market it right through ads and etc. So it can be profitable especially if you're strict on your cash flow and making sure you hit your financial monthly goals.
