Hey, that's me in the first game! Definitely could have played better even though in the moment I felt I could have done worse, but it turns out the team is on the whole kind of a mess considering I lost 9/10 games with it from further testing! I'll explain some of the weird sets: -The Roaring Moon spread is one I yoinked from Jamie Boyt. It's guaranteed to live an Iron Hands Drain Punch before tera and Thunder Punch after tera while also outspeeding max speed Great Tusk. Considering I have screens, perhaps I might not need all that bulk and should instead EV to get the jump on Arcanines creeping Great Tusk. -The Misty Terrain on Grimmsnarl is a meta call. It overrides Psychic Terrain, protects my tera Steel Annihilape from burns and sleep (really good into standard goodstuffs balance with Arcanine and Amoonguss!), and gives my Roaring Moon some extra wiggle room against Arcanine. Overall feels like it was pretty deadweight into Wolfe Perish Trap because it doesn't have great bulk or damage output. It was also a Ghost tera so if I needed to I could have escaped Gothitelle. -The Volcarona has a Passho Berry so I can safely redirect or attack Iron Bundle once without having to commit tera. It also has Tailwind, and the combination of Tailwind and Fiery Dance allows it to clean up endgames. I built this team shortly before Orlando so it looks like I simply wasn't prepared for the new meta trends. I really like using Annihilape but it feels a lot harder to work with than in Series 1. Had a blast playing that game!

at the 1:02:00 mark, the perish countdown reveals the speed tiers. so that's probably the reason they forefeited! but you might not have noticed that. Great vids as always!

Whenever i see this team on Ladder i know its almost always a free win, such a difficult team to pilot but if you can pull it off you can pull off some crazy wins

Amazing videos, better drama and higher stakes than some shows.

This team is insane. Never thought I’d see a Scream Tail in a Tournament

This is an amazingly well crafted team and Wolfe piloted it almost to perfection, however i do think it has an extra weakness that wasn't mentioned. Palafin, Gothitelle and Arcanine all have Tera Water and nobody on the team except for Amoongus resists Electric, so i think having either an Electric type pokemon or Electric type move in your back pocket could put this team into an awkward position if you save it for the end game when a water Tera has been committed to.

Very smart play in game 1 there for the opponent to Dragon Dance the turn before you’d want to click Perish Song and then Throat Chop the next turn. If they had outsped, winning would have been much harder

I’ve been trying this team, very different to the pure offence I’d normally play but without being pure stall. I get what the game plan is and what the individual pieces do, and if I can get going then I’m likely to win, but it’s going off script that’s so difficult. Gholdengo and taunt are such an issue, and if I go a Pokémon down I usually can’t recover. Think the next step for me is to be going for two KOs and then perish song rather than trying to win with perish song twice and never actually attacking, but it’s so difficult to eek out those KOs while keeping the pieces you need intact. Props to Wolfe for winning with it

I've won every time I've played against this team on the ranked ladder. Whereas you and Wolf win most of your games with this team, therefore I have concluded that you need at least 5 regional wins to pilot this team successfully.

It’s interesting to see who does and doesn’t know that Gothitelle is the big threat. I had someone switch out their ghost type turn one and set the perish trap themselves, and some that kept attacking the other slot while in the trap.

QotD: I've been trying a supportive bulky Revavroom with parting shot. It's uniquely typed for the current meta, and is extremely strong into Flutter Mane in other matchups.

On the last game, you could tell that the Iron Valiant was faster because of the perish count. Both your mons were slower, so it was impossible for it to KO both before the perish count fell to 0.

The protect from Scream Tail at 23:10 was a double protect idk if you even realized, ended up not really mattering though lol

I’ve been running medicham or raichu with feint recently and it singlehandedly won me the game last time I fought perish trap. Busting through protect for free is massive against a stall strat

That Iron Moth had Choice Scarf! That's why it never protected and switched out after the Energy Ball since the player knew he would get one shotted by a Jet Punch.

The game 4 opponent has the same paradox pokemon as on my team I made but it works so differently from mine. His revolves around gravity while mine is for speed control and raw damage

Game 1, you got two double Protects with scream tail. I don't even think you realized the first one. GG!

Best answer to perish traps are of course Gholdengo but also: 1. Pivot moves (U-turn, Volt Switch, Flip Turn, Chilly Reception, Teleport) but not Baton Pass because it will pass the Perish Song countdown onto your ally. If you expect Protect on enemy turns, target your ally instead. Yes you will damage yourself a bit, but that's better then straight up KO. 2. Soundproof ability (Abomasnow can have it, but most players use Snow Warning, with the only other mon currently available with this ability being Electrode) - funny enough this ability will help you if you are Perish Song user yourself. 3. Ghost type pokemon (can always swap out and no fake out pressure aside from Scrappy users - but that combination of the move and ability is currently not available with the mons we have) 4. Ghost tera (you cannot swap immediately on the turn you turn to Tera ghost but you can do that afterwards, though it uses up your other potential Tera) 5. Taunt (many times people uses Perish Song mons without Mental Herb) 6. OHKO Gothitelle immediately. For that you can use Cover Cloak on your strong attacker (if it's ghost type then you don't have to). If you lack dmg, pair it up with Helping Hand user. Alternatively use mons that prevent priority moves with their abilities (such as Indeedee) 7. Use Feint and then KO something (ideally Gothitelle). Feint breaks Protects and Perish Trap rely on it to trap you in. 8. Use moves that force the swap (Roar, Whirlwind, Circle Throw, Dragon Tail) on gothitelle then KO Perish Song setter or swap out. 9. If you run bulky team and it's your last 2 mons vs their last 2 mons, make sure you go last so in case of Draw you technically win (utilize Trick Room if you have it, to make yourself slower on last turn) 10. If you can't OHKO gothitelle and you have no way to swap out - use Throat Chop wich blocks the use of Perish Song - it would stop it even if they had Mental Herb. As a bonus this move can stop Hyper Voice (common on Sylveon for example) and any other sound move that would bypass Substitutes. 11. Eject Button or Eject Pack may help too if you are utilizing them in your set. Just be mindfull or Fake Out as it might trigger Eject Button preemptively. Either protect turn 1 and trigget eject button yourself with the help of ally (would use use something like u-turn on you and you both swap - helps if your other mon has no pivot moves) or just have priorit protection ability on ally. 12. Skill Swap Gothitelle so it will be the enemy who is trapped by their own Perish Song and not you (might need Cover Cloak or Ghost type/ghost tera pokemon for that though in order to do it turn 1 when they fake out). This is propably the most fun/creative and unexpected method. 13. Role Play/Doodle the Ghotitelle - trade 2 mons for 2 mons. You won't swap out but they won't either. Trace might trigger this intertaction too, though it's a 50/50 i belive as it might target the other pokemon and not the gothitelle for tracing the ability. 14. Gastro Acid/Worry Seed on gothitelle is slightly worse then Skill Swap but it can get the job done of letting you swap out. 15. Final Gambit (i should propably make it higher on the list but whatever). Annihilape with Final Gambit is immune to Fake out and can OHKO either mon provided they are not having focus sash or they don't tera ghost. 16. Imprison the Perish Song (though it does take up 2 of your move slots and the only mons who can do it are Flutter Mane, Scream Tail, Gengar and i guess Mismagius/Misdreavus but nobody uses them when Flutter Mane is an option). You may also lose speed tie in mirror match. 17. Imprison the Protect - this is far more viable and can be used against other team (And more pokemon can use it) though while it doesn't prevent Perish Song from getting off. Still it does give you 3 turns of raw attacks onto enemy side without worry about them protecting so you either KO Gothitelle and are free to swap or you even KO both or you force them to swap as they can't protect and they need to abandon the mission. Worst case scenario you would trade 2 for 2 if you lack dps. 18. Fake Out the Perish Song user (if it's possible of course ghost types are immune and Cover Cloak might make it fail). You'd need Fake Out user who is faster then Gothitelle though, so that your Fake Out goes first. After that focus targeting the Perish Song user and KO it that turn. 19. Use Dondozo + Tatsugiri immediately. While it might seem to be counterintuitive as Perish Song want to deal with the Dondozo most of the time, the Dondozo can set up even if perish song enemies uses protect and then you can potentially OHKO something even if they swap. Yes your Dondozo will fall to Perish Song but it will most likely take down something with it and you would only lose 1 mon because Tatsugiri is protected from any damage that is not Sandstorm (for unknown reason i still don't get it) or Poison/Burn (and i suppose Sticky Barb hurt Tatsugiri too, not sure if burning ground from Pledge moves hurt it). 20. If you have moves that forces the switch (such as Dragon Tail) but can't target gothitelle, remember you can use those on your ally who lack pivot moves to force out your ally and save it from doom. 21. Trap Gothitelle with your own Gothitelle (ideally after you pivot). Let them eat their own medicine.

Would love to see some battles that you lose just barely.

That last battle was intense. I really wanted to see it play out but they may have knew that there was a good chance they wouldn't out speed the scream tail.

It’s easier to make decisions while watching someone else play + not being used to fighting against Sandy Shocks but I think it wouldn’t be a bad call to use Disable on Sandy Shocks instead of using Play Rough there. Even if SS plays around Disable and uses a different move, disabling the strong attack would’ve been worthwhile. I guess the issue would’ve been if SS uses Earth Power in that slot, dealing more damage to Arcanine then. Regardless, this video was fun to watch. Made my morning. c:
