@hannessteffenhagen61 Books tend to be better at storytelling than the live action film adaptations of them. This is also the case with the new Disney+ acolyte series which was based on the books. I'm still 50/50 on whether I like the show or not.

Why would a bounty hunter hire another bounty hunter? And why would Jango go out of his way to kill his best friend/accomplice rather than take the chance to kill Padme, his actual target? I agree that Gunray > Dooku > Jango makes sense, but the rest doesn't add up.

Jango was just a smart businessman. Why risk exposure trying to assassinate a notorious senator when you can outsource the job to some expendable shapeshifter goon? Work smart, not hard 😁

And that could have prematurely lead to the discovery of what Dooku was doing far too soon, along with potentially expose Palpatine before his plan was near fruition. He needed the Senate and the Jedi to drag their feet as much as possible so that the time they DID grant him Emergency Power and finally go to Geonosis, the Clones could come in to save the day when the Jedi in their most desperate hour, and leave them much more vulnerable to Order 66 once the Republic deals the killing blow to the CIS. And of course, make the Senate think that Palpatine, being a successful Chancellor who actually gets things done, would leave it all the easier for him to persuade the Republic to reorganize into the Empire. Palpatine played the long game in the most intentionally convoluted way possible.

@@Spiralpaladin They’re trying to assassinate a political figure. Drawing attention to yourself is part of the job. Dooku was only found out because Obi-Wan went to Kamino. If Jango killed Padmé, that changes nothing. Padmé being dead doesn’t change any of that though. And if it did, then why would Palpatine take that risk? Palpatine’s plan is convoluted, but that doesn’t mean it’s good.

Same thing happens when any VIP’s life is threatened. So Django’s chances of bringing home the bounty that night was ruined, all he can do them, was make sure there were no any loose ends.
