I have Alpha Gal Syndrome (allergy to red meat and all things mammalian for me) and I still have high hopes of getting future tattoos if I can find a shop locally that would use truly plant based ink.

I live in the southern part of the US and when I emailed all the tattoo parlors around me asking if they use vegan ink, they just looked at me like I was crazy 😂 luckily though one does and I’m now 5 tats deep

Funny, I thought I recognized Jenny but I though "nah, what's the chance". But same name? I checked and yep, it's her. I knew her work when I was living in Welly last year and I never met her in person, just followed her on IG and got slightly obsessed with her work! I had just a snail+mushrooms sticker on my car, never got to book a tattoo really. Gorgeous stuff you both make - I also thought before that your style is kind of similar to hers! Another coincidence is me describing myself as "artist and space cows" and you on one of your profiles (Id remember which) say "artist and space cat". Maybe it doesn't mean much but it got my attention. I'm also vegan and I started making YT videos about dreadlocks. I tattoo just with the needle since last year and I'm looking to improve my skills to make it maybe a living one day, but the one thing that really stops me is the amount of waste each tattoo implies. But it is quite a pull what I feel here tbh.... I'm not sure why I'm texting you all this, you probably won't even read it! Anyway keep it up like this you seem a really lovely person!

I was vegan for 4 years and 4 months. Now I’m vegetarian but I plant on reverting back to vegan for good in the summer once I can start preparing meals and work on my health.

I am not vegan but I am all for reducing footprints. My things is reducing plastic waste, one thing I have often wondered about is the use of clingfilm and the waste of this. Is there a recyclable version? Or a better way of protecting equipment etc. ? Would love to hear something about this xx

Do you have any other advice on reducing waste? Besides being a vegan tattoo shop, is there anything you do to make tattooing more eco-friendly and yet still being hygienic? I'm also a tattoo artist and I love my job but tbh we produce so many garbage :(

I am a “forced vegan” due to deadly allergies to even the tiniest particle of egg protein. I have been desperate to get memorial tattoos for years but the danger of exposure and anaphylaxis is too severe. A lot of vegan business in my area (Ontario, Canada) are also marketing themselves as “Allergy Friendly” and it has created huge boosts for them. Have you thought about marketing towards people like me who are allergic to components in traditional ink?

Interesting video, thanks. I have a question: if a person shaves themselves, there's a certain possibility for them to get rather nasty looking razor burns and I don't think this would make a fun tattoo experience for anyone involved. Is there another way of doing it? Is it possible to use something like a straight razor or safety razor and sterilize it somehow? Would using shavettes help?
